ballet pink & zippers

Paige Denim Edgemont Ultra Skinny Jeans; top: Forever 21 (old); sunglasses: Prada;

We went out to dinner Saturday night and although it was scorching hot and I normally would've used the opportunity to wear a cute little romper, I could not wait to wear these jeans.  I first saw these jeans online in white and fell instantly in love with them, but thankfully did not get around to buying them because then I saw them in pink.  PINK!  I definitely didn't wait to buy these.  As girly as I am, I love that these jeans aren't 'too pink' (if you know what I mean) and the zippers make them edgier and add a unique touch.  Because these jeans aren't too girly, I paired them with a lace top and opted for no jewellery because I always feel less is more.

soleil

tank: Madewell; shorts: AG Jeans (love - and have - these daisy print ones); hat: BCBG
bracelets: H&M; shoes: MICHAEL Michael Kors (similar); bag: Louis Vuitton; sunglasses: Prada}

Yesterday was such a gorgeous day!  A lot of people think it was too hot, but I live for this weather.  Of course I had to pick up this adorable 'soleil' tank when I was browsing the Madewell site.  Orange and pink are normally my favourite colours to wear, but especially in the summer because they're bright and fun just like summer.  Besides a flowy dress, this is my go-to outfit for summer - cutoffs, a tank and espadrilles.  And a hat.  I already got one sunburn this summer and it will be the last.

pretty pastels

{Talula Keisei Dress, Talula Kent Blazer; pumps: GUESS (other colours here and here);
bracelets: J.Crew; sunglasses: Prada}

I love pastels, especially paired together, so when I saw this pretty blue dress at Aritzia, I knew instantly that I would pair it with this pastel blazer (that I also picked up from Aritzia a year, or two ago) because the dress has spaghetti straps and an open back, which are not appropriate at my work.  But that's why I love this dress so much.  It works for the office by adding a blazer (or sweater) and it's perfect for drinks on a patio after work without the blazer, especially when it's super hot.  And if it gets a bit chilly, you just throw the blazer over your shoulders because it's so lightweight and drapey.  I love this dress so much that I also picked up this polka dot version and knew I could pair it with the same blazer that I also have in black.  I also just realized I have these pumps in black too.  Hey, when you love something that much, why not buy two?

sick day + cozy shorts

Yesterday I was talking about how I became sick on the first day of summer.  Well, I attempted to go to work on Monday, only to feel worse by the end of the day.  So I took yesterday off and slept until around 11:30 a.m.  I made a tea and sat down with my mail: a new issue of Marie Claire and my $500 gift card for winning Holt Renfrew's #HoltsHappy contest on Instagram (see here).  I may be sick, but there's nothing like a new issue of a fashion magazine and free shopping money at one of your favourite stores to put you in a better mood.

p.s. These J.Crew shorts are SO cozy.

hello, summer!

It was the first day of summer a few days ago and I woke up with a migraine from the sunburn I got the day before and a sore throat.  (I had just gotten over my '100 day cough' earlier last week!)  I started to feel worse as the day went on but I had a birthday party to go to so I dressed up and hoped for the best.  I wore this super pretty Stone Cold Fox for Urban Outfitters cropped top.  I've been coveting something from Stone Cold Fox (specifically this jumper) so when I saw this piece for under $100 at Urban Outfitters I had to scoop it up.  In the end, I only lasted about 2 hours (after getting sick a couple of times from the nasty cough I now have).  I just hope it's not another '100 day cough' because I've been dying for summer to get here and I'd like to enjoy it, thank you very much.

goodbye, spring

{tunic: Topshop (similar here); jacket: Anthropologie (similar here and here);
bracelets: J.Crew, H&M; Roxy Heat Wave Hat (similar); sunglasses: Prada}

I'm so happy I picked up this Anthropologie jacket last fall because it's a great spring jacket too.  It's lightweight and basically goes with everything.  It's the first day of summer today and hopefully that means warmer mornings, but we haven't gotten there yet.  Some mornings this week I have been able to get away without wearing a jacket, but there still has been those days that have a little bit of that spring morning chill.  Earlier this spring I said that I normally don't get to wear spring jackets for very long because in Canada it goes from cold to hot, but this spring has been perfect.

So long, Spring... hello, Summer...(you're my favourite)!

the wedge sandal

top: Wilfred (old); Coach Bleecker Mini Preston Satchel; hat: BCBG (love this one);
bracelet: Marc by Marc Jacobs (similar here); sunglasses: Prada}

I went looking for new sandals, but did NOT want a wedge as I have over 10 pairs and basically no other type of sandal (besides flat ones), but I could not help buying these because 1) they're super comfortable and 2) they're brown, which is a colour I don't tend to buy.  So I caved mainly for the latter reason.  But I love a wedge sandal.  They are way more comfortable than a heel, but still give you height, which in my case is necessary because I'm so petite.

I was also on the hunt earlier this week for a new pair of jeans to replace my old high-waisted 7 jeans that I've had for years because I'm trying to do the crop top thing (but I also like to eat cupcakes and not work out).  I was looking for a flared leg because that's what the pair of jeans I wanted to replace has, but pretty much every pair I picked up were skinnies.  I crouched down to pick up a pair and riiiiiiip.  My dress pants had ripped about 2 inches!  Needless to say, I could not go back to work in my dress pants so I had to buy a pair of jeans on the spot.  I chose these 7 For All Mankind 'Slim Illusion Cropped Skinny' jeans because they're super flattering and super comfortable.  Plus, they're high enough that I can maybe wear a crop top.  Maybe.

Goddess

jeans: GAP; bracelets: H&M (in-store); sunglasses: Prada}

It was my birthday yesterday and we won't talk about how old I am, we'll just talk about what I did and what I wore because that's more fun.  I went out to dinner with a couple of girlfriends Friday night and wore this outfit.  I actually wore this outfit to work and planned on changing into this beautiful Urban Outfitters romper, which is why I bought it in the first place (but I would have changed the shoes and not have worn the fedora), but it became so chilly that I decided to change back into this outfit because the weather just upset me.  I also didn't have much time to change because I was at the spa all afternoon.  It was a rough day, as you can tell.  The only thing was that I wish I had worn this beautiful head wrap that I ordered from Urban Outfitters.  I became obsessed with head wraps last summer (see here and here) so I could not help but pick up this beauty.  It's called a Goddess Chain Headwrap, which is fitting because I cannot stop listening to Iggy Azalea's album. "Bow down to a Goddess.  Goddess!  Got it?"
