wear to work: fall shoe edit

fall shoe edit

I was asked by a friend (hi, R!) to do a post on work clothes so I thought I would start by doing a fall (work) shoe edit.  In some offices you can get away with wearing sneakers, but the key IMO is to keep the sneakers clean and simple (the square medallion on the Acne Studios Adriana Naplak Sneakers (top, left) is detachable! I picture them with black dress pants and a camel sweater like this Demylee Jet Sweater with camel sleeves.)

I used to be a heels-only girl, but definitely since having kids I have welcomed flats into my life.  The Chloe 'Lauren' Scalloped Ballet Flat, which comes in 11 colours, is SO pretty and I especially love them in the pink pictured above (second from the bottom).  Sam Edelman has a budget-friendly pair (top, second from the left) that are very similar and also come in different colours here.  I'm obsessing over the Valentino Embellished Suede Ballerinas (bottom, second from the left).

Mules are a huge trend and what's not to love about them?  You can slip them on and go!  I personally have been eyeing the Jeffrey Campbell Apfel Tassel Mules (third from the top) but in pink (also in black here), but sadly my size is sold out.

Last, but definitely not least, the bootie/over-the-knee boot.  My favourite to shop for.  If I had to choose one, I'd pick the Schutz Boralila Bootie (top, right) since I don't have a bootie in that shade.  Although I also don't have an over-the-knee boot in the shade above so I might have to scoop up the Dolce Vita Neely Boot.

tuesday shoesday (spring 2016)

tuesday shoesday

Hope everyone kept cozy warm this weekend - it was freeezing!  In honour of the temps going way up this week, I'm rounding up the shoes I've been eyeing for spring.

black denim skirt

{top: Anthropologie (similar here, also here); skirt: ZARA (also love this one);
shoes: Jeffrey Campbell; hat: Brixton; bracelets: H&M (old); sunglasses: Prada}

Our friends had us over for dinner on Boxing Day and it was very warm and although I was holding off wearing this skirt with a cropped sweater I also bought at ZARA (the one pictured with the skirt), I finally gave up waiting for cooler weather and wore it.  I originally was going to wear it with a shirt tucked into the skirt (it would look great with this top, which is currently in my shopping cart), but since I would be eating all night I decided to pair it with this flowy Anthro blouse I bought earlier this year.  Of course I've had this skirt for about a month and now ZARA is having a big sale, but the original price was under $40 so I don't feel too bad about it.

Here are some other great finds from the #zarasale:

Striped Sweater (bought this one, it's super cozy!)

Hand Made Coat (I love the mustard colour!)

cozy stripes

{sweater: ZARA; jeans: FRAME (also here)Jeffrey Campbell Lace-Up Flat (also here)}

We had "sweater weather" again for maybe a day, or two.  I took advantage and wore this very cozy ZARA sweater I ordered weeks ago.  It hasn't been quite sweater + boots weather yet (unless you're wearing shorts) so these shoes have been on repeat.  It's quite humid today but our house is cool so I've been able to bring out my favourite cozy red sweater to get me in the mood for Christmas.  It's definitely different celebrating in the South, with the weather the way it's been.  We'll probably spend the day at the beach tomorrow!

I'll be back with a new post on Friday.  I hope everyone has a great Christmas!

green sweater, lace up shoes

I fell in love with this sweater as soon as I saw it.  I've been buying a lot of neutrals lately, but I looooove colour and this green is beautiful.  I love the distressed look and the bubble sleeves.  I was going to pair it with jeans, but I might have to pair it with cutoffs since the temp is going back up again.  (It actually said it was going to snow today - insert laughing with tears emoji!)

{Jeffrey Campbell Atrium Lace-Up Flat (also here, also love these and these heels);
Free People Elsa Blouse (also here); jeans: 7 For All Mankind (similar)}

I'm obsessed with lace up shoes, but so far have only bought sandals.  So I've been on the hunt for closed-toe ones (you know, because of the snow we're supposed to get ha), but I didn't want to pay a fortune.  (If you want to splurge though, these Aquazzura ones are gorgeous.)  These Jeffrey Campbell ones are quite comfortable and a practical price.  I went with the camel colour because it's one of my favourites for fall this year, but I might have to get the black also.  They'll look great with everything from skinny jeans to dresses.
