touch of gold (tone)

{sweater: GAP; pants: ZARA; Pierre Hardy Block Heel Pump (black leather); bracelets: H&M;
necklace: Mendocino; bag: MICHAEL Michael Kors (other colours here); sunglasses: Prada}

It's still sweater weather and it's getting depressing.  Especially because I'm still wearing my wool coat on top of it (and still cold!).  It was so cold and rainy today (I shot this picture on the weekend when it was actually sunny) and the only thing getting me through this miserable weather is wearing brights, like these ZARA pants.  (And large Tim Hortons teas.)  Of course I fell in love with these Pierre Hardy pumps because they're pink, but also because they have a gold-tone plated heel, which makes them unique.  I added my adorable MICHAEL Michael Kors handbag with gold-tone hardware and some gold-tone jewellery to tie it all together.

fancy pants

{Talula Los Feliz Pant; top: Free People (sold out colour, similar); boots: Topshop (similar);
necklace: Juicy Couture (old); sunglasses: Prada}

These pants are the perfect weekend pants.  They look and feel fancy because of the print and texture, but they're actually considered a 'jogger' so you get the best of both worlds.  To dress these pants up, I would wear heels (or sandals when it gets warmer out), but today I ran errands with my son (and it's still a bit chilly out - although a major improvement), so I paired them with these Topshop booties I bought last summer, which are much more practical when running around.  And that's why I consider these the perfect weekend pants.  You can run errands in them and then just throw on heels and you're ready to go (somewhere other than running errands).

spring-ish

{pumps: GUESS; jeans: GAP; sweater: Topshop}

It does not feel like spring.  At all.  We get a nice day here, or there, but for the most part it is still cold.  I've mostly been wearing my wool coat.  I commute in my Vans and I secretly wish I was still wearing my Uggs (no, I will never give up wearing Uggs.  I live in Canada).  But I am tired of wearing winter boots or booties.  My skin is still pale because I have barely seen the sun.  Everyone around me seems miserable and ready for summer.  I decided since the weather was not going to cooperate, I was going to dress for spring anyway and brought out my pink GUESS pumps.  (Baby steps.)  I paired them with this pretty blue Topshop floral sweater.  Later in the afternoon, I was surprised by these beautiful flowers by my hubby to cheer me up.  (When the weather's miserable, I blame him for not wanting to move to California.)  At the end of the day, it felt a little bit like spring-ish.

draped chambray

{Sam & Lavi Draped Chambray Popover; jeans: GAP; necklace: Mendocino; bracelets: H&M;
boots: Marc by Marc Jacobs (sold out, other colour here); sunglasses: Prada}

This is not your typical chambray shirt.  It's flowy and drapes on your body unlike the normal button-up.  It's "Staff Appreciation Week" so we're able to dress down and wear jeans this week, but rather than do a matchy-matchy denim on denim look, I chose black jeans to make the look more office appropriate.  This chambray shirt is perfect for spring and will look great with white denim, or dressed down with cutoffs.  It will definitely be a recurring piece in my closet.  It's also a great top to wear after a holiday weekend and you've eaten too many chocolate eggs.  (You can see a closer view of it on Instagram.)

bonjour

{trench coat: Banana Republic; dress: Topshop (bought in store); boots: MICHAEL Michael Kors;
necklace: Mendocino; bracelets: H&M (in-store); sunglasses: Prada}

I saw this trench coat on Rachel Bilson (see here) and thought it was the perfect addition to my spring collection of outerwear.  I bought a trench coat years and years ago (and still have it), but it's black and more formal than this one.  This one is perfect because you can dress it up for work or dress it down with a pair of jeans (or even shorts as seen on Rachel Bilson!).  Wearing a trench + stripes automatically makes me think of Paris, which is where I'm headed next spring and I cannot wait since I've never been and have been dying to go for as long as I can remember.  This trench will definitely come in handy.

Happy Easter!

black & white

{MINKPINK Cheerleader Skirt; shirt: Madewell (old); blazer: Marciano (old, similar);
shoes: GUESS; cuff: Chanel (vintage); sunglasses: Prada}

Well, it's snowing today.  But up until today the weather has been gorgeous (look, no tights!).  I've been wearing a lot of colour lately, but when I bought this adorable MINKPINK skirt (love the trim!) I wanted to stick with a black and white theme.  I've had this gorgeous Marciano blazer for years now and it's a classic piece.  It reminds me of Chanel of course and when I wear black and white, I always pull out my Chanel 'COCO' vintage bangle.  It's a perfect match.  Just like black and white.

awesome baggies

sweatshirt: Topshop; Dolce Vita Stirling Boots (also here); sunglasses: Prada}

I've been seeing a lot of distressed jeans out there and, although I have a pair of awesome 7 for All Mankind distressed jeans that I bought years ago and are still my favourite pair of jeans, I was not sure I was a fan of the super distressed kind.  My 7s only have one hole.  In the knee.  But I thought I would give them a try and I'm so glad I did because as soon as I put these "awesome baggies" on, I was hooked.  Maybe it's because they're pink, or maybe I was in the mood for some really comfy jeans but, either way, these are both and I'll be living in them this spring.  These would look great with a pair of pumps, but I was taking my son to get some froyo, so I paired them with these also awesome Dolce Vita boots, which are also really comfy.
