pretty pink pleats

Pink is my favourite colour and I love a statement sleeve, which I'm pretty sure I've mentioned on my blog a million times, so it was love at first sight when I saw this Anthropologie Luma Peasant Top.  I'm obsessed with the oversized sleeves.  I scrunched up the sleeves to make them even bigger!  This top is flowy and light, which makes it the perfect top for spring/summer.  It'll be my go-to top for the beach, just throw over a bathing suit and go.  I could have dressed it up a bit with lace-up sandals, but we just headed to Broadway at the Beach for a casual dinner and a stroll so I just slipped on my go-to Adidas slides.  This top would also look great dressed up with white skinny jeans.

folklore

ZARA Sandals (old);

I recently said I was over summer and wearing sandals and all that, but if you can't beat 'em join 'em, right?  We headed to the beach again and I wore this beautiful Spell Folklore Blouse (sadly sold out in navy) and paired it with a pair of bandits.  I've been buying pieces lately that I can either layer with or with long sleeves to prep for fall.  I'll be swapping out my beach hat for a fall hat (love this fedora by Brixton) and pairing this beautiful top with a pair of flared jeans (love the Free People Denim Super Flare - they come in different inseams!).  It's supposed to cool down this weekend and I cannot wait.  This blouse will definitely be on repeat.

lace cami + booties + a leopard cardigan

Urban Outfitters Cardigan (old, leopard cardigan here and here, LOVE this leopard bomber);
MICHAEL Michael Kors Booties (old);

Happy Friday!  I started getting excited with the cooler temps in Myrtle Beach (mostly in the mornings and evenings, but better than nothing) and maybe my visit to Canada where it was freezing triggered me to start shopping for fall (coincidentally the major Shopbop sale - sadly now over - started on our way home so I picked up some fall items).  But since we've been back it's back up to 80 degrees plus and, while I'm not complaining because I missed the heat, I am now in the what-the-hell-do-I-wear-now phase.  And this is how this outfit came about.  I was never a booties and shorts kind of girl because it never really made sense in Canada, but it's definitely a combo I'm repeating here.  While I could get away with sandals, I'm kind of over them.  And I also know my fellow Canadians are prepping for fall weather.  Basically my shorts can be replaced with jeans and you have yourself a fall outfit: a lace cami (or brami), a leopard-print cardigan or leopard print bomber (leopard is once again huge for fall!) and booties.  You can even add a white tee (see my post here for inspo and my favourite camis).

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

beach days are the best days

ASOS Sandals (similar here);

As much as I thought I would enjoy wearing cozy sweaters and jeans, I was over it pretty quickly.  We're still in Canada since we have no power in Myrtle Beach (so grateful that's the most of our worries), but I sure am missing the sunshine and warm weather already.  We were just at the beach a week or so ago.  (And saw a double rainbow!)  I wore this Jen's Pirate Booty top again.  It's seriously THE best top to wear to the beach.  It's sheer so it keeps you cool in the sunshine, but the long sleeves keep you warm when there's a breeze, which there was plenty of that day.

Thinking of everyone affected by the hurricane.

embroidered check top

As soon as I saw this beautiful embroidered check top on the ZARA site, I wanted to buy it immediately.  But it wasn't in stock yet so I clicked 'email me when available'.  Then waited.  And waited.  It felt like weeks (it was probably only a few days).  I stalked the website just in case the 'email me when available' wasn't working.  I finally received the email and it was like Christmas!  This was a top I needed in my closet.  It's perfect for transitioning into fall.  The embroidery is beautiful but I'm obsessed with the sleeves.  I originally paired this check top with dark blue skinny jeans for dinner (since it was actually below 80 last week in the evening), but it heated up again so this time paired it with cutoffs.  P.s. I've been living in these One Teaspoon Bandits.

worn white bandits

Urban Outfitters Top (old, love this one, this white one is SO pretty!);
Schutz Erlina Sandal (also here in black);
Brixton Dalila Hat (in black, this colour sold out);

This is now my fourth pair of One Teaspoon bandits.  I am obsessed.  I have them in light blue (also here), pink, heart-printed and now these worn white ones.  The only ones I'm eyeing now are these (or these) black ones and I think my collection will be complete.  Although, these are 'worn white' so I could also use these bright white ones.  I went with the 'worn white' ones since I already have a pair of bright white shorts, but they're a tighter fit so I will probably invest in a pair of bandits.  Ok, maybe these dark blue ones too.  Is that too many?  But I L O V E them because they're SO comfy.  I will admit, I ordered another pair of these but the button fell off so I exchanged them and was worried the next pair wouldn't fit the same.  They don't.  But for the most part I love the way bandits fit.  They're short in the front, you can roll them up if you want them even shorter and the back covers your butt completely.  Obviously they're quite casual, which is why I love pairing them with pretty, flirty, flowy feminine tops.

baby blues

ASOS Sandals (love these blue sandals, have them in black!);
Prada Sunglasses}

Ever since I read that article in InStyle about the colour blue, I've been drawn to it (see my recent post here).  This ASOS top is SO pretty.  I love the details.  I would normally pair a pretty pastel against white (or black) so that it would pop more, but I decided to go all blue and paired this pretty top with light blue cutoffs.  I also like the feminine details of the top against the shredded details of the cutoffs, making the outfit not too sweet.

Love the colour blue?  I've also been eyeing this Tularosa lace top - it says mint but I'm pretty sure it's baby blue, this Rebecca Minkoff top, this Club Monaco top - love the sleeves! - and this ZARA off-the-shoulder tunic.

Happy shopping!

#OOTD / beach day

beach time

Happy Friday!  Today's #OOTD is inspired by the gorgeous weather we had this past week in South Carolina.  It was actually t-shirt weather for a couple of days and it got me super excited for the summer, which should actually start some time next month.  I'm excited that I get to start shopping for spring clothes as they come out.  I've shared some things I purchased the other day at the Shopbop 'up to 25% off' sale (sale ends tomorrow!).  I also bought these amazing hot pink bandits (I lived in my bandits last summer) and this striped tee from Madewell.  I finally decided to get a new pair of sunglasses (I need a prescription, which is why I'm almost always wearing the same ones).  I've been eyeing Wildfox's 'Malibu' sunglasses forever and finally decided to try them.  I bought them in white and I am obsessed!!  They're big and bold and definitely for the fashion girl.  Other beach essentials: a tote, hat, flip flops and, of course, the flamingo.

Happy shopping!
