smocked spearmint

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  It's been hot and humid again here and will be for the rest of the week.  It's about 10 degrees cooler back in Greenville, SC so I'm used to it cooling down a bit around this time.  It's mid-October and it's still in the mid-80s here in Florida.  As much as I've been wanting fall weather, I've started to embrace the heat.  I took the kids to the beach after school one day last week and it put it all into perspective for me.  I've also been finding some fall pieces that I can still wear in this heat so it's the best of both worlds.

With this heat, I'm getting good use out of my summer clothes, a lot I have yet to share on the blog.  Time has flown!  I love this Faithfull the Brand Lenora Top that I purchased from Revolve earlier this summer.  It also comes in pink, apricot and a fun floral print (the latter two being on sale at Shopbop!).  The floral print also comes in a matching pair of shorts (also on sale!).  Although I usually gravitate towards pink, the 'spearmint' is such a refreshing pop of colour.  I love the puff sleeves, which are a bit different than the usual puff sleeve because of the elastic smocking which creates a little ruffle at the bottom of the sleeves.  I also love the little ruffle detail at the bottom of the top.  I paired the cropped top with my go-to AGOLDE Parker Vintage Cut Off Shorts (which I ordered in two sizes because, you know, quarantine) and my pink Gucci GG Marmont Super Mini Bag because I love mixing pastels.  I originally threw on my white Vans, but decided to change into these delicate Schutz Aimi Sandals, which are currently on sale for $46 at Shopbop!

jumpsuit joy 2

I love jumpsuits so much.  It's probably one of the main reasons why I wish I was taller.  They're always so long and I'm too lazy to get things hemmed.  Also, it hurts to spend so much money on a piece of clothing only to have to cut off a huge chunk of it's beautiful material.  It feels wrong.  So when I come across one that I don't have to hem (even better when I can wear flat shoes with it), I get really happy.  (One of my favourite jumpsuits of all time is this colourful, striped one by Free People.)  As soon as I put this Faithfull the Brand Jumpsuit on, I instantly fell in love with it.  Having put on a few pounds during this pandemic, I'm happy it has a belt to cinch the waist in.  This jumpsuit is a little too long on me to wear with flat sandals so I paired it with wedge sandals and my go-to Lack of Color hat.

Other jumpsuits I'm coveting (but most likely sadly too short for):

Faithfull the Brand Anika Jumpsuit
Isabel Marant Etoile Timea Jumpsuit (this one would be great for fall, paired with a denim jacket!)
Hemant and Nandita Fluer Jumpsuit (SO gorgeous!)
MIKOH Sayama Jumpsuit (comfy enough to lounge around the house in)
Free People Marina One Piece (under $100!)
Free People Hazel Mixed Print Jumpsuit
Anthropologie Bristol Wide-Leg Jumpsuit (under $100!)
Pam & Gela Tie Back Jumpsuit (love the ruffles and open back!)
ASOS DESIGN Square Neck Linen Jumpsuit (under $60! Love the colour and tie back!)

Happy (jumpsuit) shopping!

miss piggy & pink gucci

ZARA Miss Piggy Disney T-Shirt TRF (sold out online)

Since moving to Florida, I've had to run a lot of errands and realized I was in need of some casual t-shirts.  Clearly being home for the most part since March, I have worn out most of my t-shirts.  I normally head to Free People for casual tees, but during our move I rediscovered a ZARA t-shirt I had in my closet that I had forgotten about and headed to their site.  I picked up several tees, including this cute Miss Piggy tee, which of course sold out while I was writing out this blog post.  It doesn't surprise me.  I mean, who doesn't love Miss Piggy?  (I'm also loving this Hello Kitty tee and this Back to the Future tee!)  I paired the cute tee with AGOLDE high-waisted denim cutoffs and my go-tos (Vans, Lack of Color hat).

A new addition to my closet is this adorable pink Gucci GG Marmont Super Mini Bag.  I don't even recall how I came across it because I rarely purchase designer bags because I prefer to purchase clothes, but as soon as I saw it I instantly fell in love.  I'm a petite person so I love mini bags.  The problem was, I couldn't decide which one to get!  My favourite colour is pink so it seemed obvious that I would choose pink, but the more I researched the bag, the more complicated things got.  I came across this multicoloured pastel version and was thisclose to purchasing it instead.  But since it's obviously not a cheap purchase, I thought pink was the more practical purchase.  I then started debating between which style to get.  I love the shape of this mini bag, but I also love the bucket bag.  In the end, I went with the first bag I laid my eyes on and I'm so happy I did.

Chained bags are a big trend for fall 2020.  I found some cute, more budget-friendly chain bags below!

House of Want faux leather bag (under $100!)
Marc Jacobs The Hot Shot crossbody bag
Sancia The Louane Chain Bag (love the colour for fall!)
Marc Jacobs The Mini Cushion Bag
Free People Diego Chain Shoulder Bag (under $100!)
Tory Burch Robinson Leather Wallet On a Chain (comes in 5 colours!)
ZARA Quilted Maxi Crossbody Bag (love a denim bag, also comes in black)

effortless tunic

I have been living in this Free People Getaway With Me Tunic!  I love a tunic because I'm so petite and I can wear them as a mini dress because mini dresses are usually regular-sized dresses on me.  Of course I love the colour of this tunic, but it's SO lightweight and comfortable that I'm considering purchasing the white one.  (I ordered this denim tunic in white so I'll see how it fits/feels first.  Free People also carries that tunic in a cotton/linen blend here.)  The tunic I'm wearing feels like I'm wearing nothing and nothing is what I'd prefer to be wearing in this heat.  It also comes in green, but I can't quite tell what shade of green it will be in person.  (I'm really into bright green right now.  I just ordered this green tunic even though it's deathly hot out.)  I paired the pretty, pink tunic with some old ASOS pastel-coloured sandals that I also rediscovered while moving and my go-to Lack of Color hat for a day at the beach.

If you're over summer and wanting to start shopping for fall, Free People has a gorgeous floral tunic I'm eyeing over at Revolve.  It is making me reminisce about all of my Free People floral tunics like this green one, this purple one, this blush one and this yellow one!

Happy (tunic) shopping!

mystic playdress

We have finally finished unpacking!  The house is still a bit unorganized and we're still waiting for furniture, etc. we ordered to arrive, but we're almost there!  I'll be posting pictures once it's all completed.  I wanted to dedicate this past weekend to emptying every box in our house because I was sick of looking at them so I didn't get to the beach, but the previous weekend we did make a quick trip to St. Augustine Beach.  It was later in the day so we didn't get to explore too much so we'll definitely have to go back soon.

I wore this beautiful Spell & The Gypsy Collective Mystic Playdress.  It is the perfect dress for the beach.  Since we now live near the beach again, I've been doing a lot of online shopping for beachwear and clothes for this extremely hot weather.  I also purchased the Spell & The Gypsy Collective Mystic Midi Dress and I couldn't decide between it and this playdress so I kept both, which is not something I ever do, but pink is my favourite colour and they are so beautiful I couldn't resist.  It was really hard to resist the Mystic Romper, since you know I love a romper!  I also ordered the Spell & The Gypsy Collective x REVOLVE Mystic Playdress in Turquoise, which sold out quickly, but may come back in stock.  These dresses are so flowy and comfortable to wear, which makes them perfect for Florida.

mango

Another week has flown by!  I am still unpacking our house so we haven't had a chance to get out much, although we did make it to the beach twice in the past few days, which has been really nice.  One day last week I had to run some errands and afterward found this cute park to take the kids to.  Unfortunately it was the middle of the day so we didn't last long, but can't wait to check it out again.  I wore this cute For Love & Lemons Romper.  As you may know, I'm a huge fan of rompers.  They're so easy to throw on and go.  I love the colour.  (If you're not a huge fan of this colour, For Love & Lemons has a similar romper in white with pretty daisies.  If you love the colour, but looking for something more budget-friendly, Lost + Wander has a cute one under $100!)  My wardrobe since moving to Florida has become even more colourful than before.  I also picked up this pretty blue Faithfull the Brand Jumpsuit and this pretty mint Faithfull the Brand Top (posts to come!).

Other colourful rompers I'm coveting:

Privacy Please Love Note Romper
Spell & The Gypsy Collective Mystic Romper
One Teaspoon Prophecy Jumpsuit

hello, Florida!

Hello from sunny Florida!  I can't believe it's been a month since my last post!  Time has clearly flown since packing up our house and moving from SC to FL.  We love our new house and I'm especially loving all of the palm trees!  It's one of the things I missed the most when we moved from Myrtle Beach to Greenville, SC.  With everything that's been happening this year, seeing palm trees and spending time at the beach has definitely helped with stress.  We've only been able to get to the beach a couple of times in the past couple of weeks.  It's been quite stormy here, which I expected, but I've been enjoying it!

I wore this outfit the first time we headed to the beach and I was hoping to take some pictures for the blog there, but it was SO windy.  I don't know how fashion bloggers take these glamourous photos at the beach, ha!  So these pictures were taken outside of our home.  I have been wanting to wear this Spell & The Gypsy Collective Portobello Road Blouse since purchasing it months (?) ago, but don't think I have because of the heat!  But I figured it was the perfect blouse to wear to the beach since I knew there would be a breeze.  There was definitely a breeze!  I paired the Spell blouse with my favourite AGOLDE Parker Vintage Loose Fit Cutoff Shorts, which I finally replaced with a new pair because I've worn them so much.  Last but not least, I broke in my new Valentino Rockstud Platform Sandals!  I've been eyeing these since I saw them on Net-a-Porter back in June and they were the first things I purchased once we moved.  I was luckily able to find my size at Farfetch since they're almost sold out everywhere I checked!  They also come in pink!  They're on the pricier side, but I found these adorable embellished platform sandals by Steve Madden that are under $70!

portobello road set

Lack of Color Zulu Rancher

Happy Friday!  How cute is this Spell & the Gypsy Portobello Road set?  (Items sold separately.)  Along with the Portobello Short Robe, when the second Spell 'Blue Moon' collection dropped, I had eyes on this set.  Of course, the playdress is adorable and was hard to resist.  But I love a romper/jumpsuit, which is what a set paired together essentially looks like, but you can wear the items separately, which is a bonus!  I've been living in these pieces.  I have worn these shorts with this yellow Free People top.  They are so cute.  I love the frills.  You can throw on a basic white tee and still have a super cute 'fit (that's what the kids call it nowadays, right?).  I have also worn the Portobello blouse with a pair of denim cutoff shorts.

purple

Purple was my absolute favourite colour when I was a kid.  My entire room was purple, from the walls to my comforter.  Then I got sick of it and pink became my favourite colour.  I avoided purple for the longest time, but am now starting to welcome it back with open arms.  I'm coveting this Faithfull the Brand skirt, this Ulla Johnson romper, these ZARA slouchy jeans and this Free People eyelet top.  I purchased this LoveShackFancy for Target Ruffle Dress, which I'm so excited to share on the blog!

This Spell & the Gypsy Collective Journey RaRa Mini Dress is another item I rented from Nuuly.  Was I mainly drawn to it because it's pink-based?  Probably.  I love anything mixed with pink.  Pink and red being my favourite of all time, followed by pink and orange, but I think pink and purple is becoming my new favourite colour combo.  This Spell dress was a little more fitted than I would have preferred (one of the great things about renting!), but I had fun wearing it.  It's not quite a mini dress on me since I'm so petite, but I found it was the perfect length.  It's a thin, lightweight dress so perfect for this heat!

If you're loving this print, but would prefer a different style, it also comes in a blouse, midi skirt and strappy maxi dress!

Happy shopping/renting!

diamonds

Hope everyone is doing as well as they can be during this time!  Further to this post, I also rented this pretty Ulla Johnson top from Rent the Runway.  We shot this outfit over a week ago and it's the last outfit we were able to shoot.  They have closed the parks, including the parking lot we used to take pictures, so we found a building to shoot this outfit in front of.  We've been socially distancing since Day 1, but we're now ordered to stay home, which is completely understandable, so I will be taking a break from posting outfits.  With the Rent the Runway plan, I was able to swap out my 4 items for 4 other items, but with everything going on I chose not to.  I thought about shooting outfits in my backyard, but I wasn't sure if it was appropriate to use up UPS' time delivering clothes.  I have since read reports that people should continue to online shop so I guess it's what anyone feels they want/can do during this time, but being mindful of course.  I have found blogging helpful in keeping my mind off things and, with spring break coming up next week, I will continue to blog about the items I'm coveting.  So look out for more posts next week!

I was very excited to rent something from Ulla Johnson since I've always oohed and aahed over their clothes (the clothes are on the expensive side).  It did not disappoint.  It's sadly sold out in the colour I'm wearing on the Ulla Johnson site and at Nordstrom (I've linked two other colours above), but it's still available to rent at Rent the Runway here.  (Free People carries a similar top for under $100 called the Willow Printed Blouse!)  The cotton poplin makes this top very comfortable to wear in the heat we've been having.  I love the print and colour.  I love the poufy sleeves and the little ruffles on them.  Ulla Johnson also carries a long-sleeved blouse in the same print here.  They also have a dress, which is SO pretty, called the Nora Dress.

THANK YOU to everyone on the front lines during this scary time!!

Stay safe, everyone!

gingham dress

Gingham is such a fun print.  It's a lot like plaid and I love plaid.  I'll be posting my fall picks this week and it will include a lot of plaid.  This Madewell gingham dress is super cute and perfect for a hot never-ending-summer day.  It's on sale, along with this gingham dress!  And how cute is this gingham mini dress?!

goody-bye, summer

7 For All Mankind Jeans

I hope everyone had a great summer!  We had a very busy, but fun-filled summer.  I went to Vegas with my sister for my birthday in June.  In July, we visited Charleston, South Carolina and Fernandina Beach, Florida.  I also chopped off my hair.  In late July/August, we made the trip back to Canada to visit family for a couple of weeks, which is where these photos were taken.  The kimono definitely helped with the mosquitoes!

Although summer is not officially over and it's still quite hot here, it's starting to feel like fall now that the kiddies are back in school.  Plus, once September 1st comes, I'm itching to do some fall shopping.  Fall is my absolute favourite season to shop for.  I'll be posting my fall picks on the blog next week!

kiss me off-the-shoulder

Prada Minimal Baroque Sunglasses (also here)}

On our shopping trip in Charlotte, NC, a couple of weekends ago, I picked up this pretty pink off-the-shoulder top at Free People.  I was looking for something casual that you can just throw on and go, but not a basic tee (I have enough of those and wore them out in the first few weeks after our move).  This 'Kiss Me Tube' checked off all of the boxes.  But unlike the pink off-the-shoulder top in my last post, this one tends to ride up.  But it's super comfy and flowy, almost like a poncho, perfect for the heat.  I love the raw edges.  We headed out for a casual dinner and walk around downtown Greenville so I paired the off-the-shoulder top with my go-to AGOLDE Parker Vintage Cutoff Shorts (again). (I wasn't joking when I said I have been living in them!)  Not a huge fan of pink?  The Kiss Me Tube also comes in black (which looks more like grey).

off-the-shoulder neon pink

I bought this neon pink Susana Monaco Maia Top months ago from Shopbop (now sold out, but found on other sites, linked above), but with the move and not organizing my closet for weeks I never got around to wearing it.  Of course now it's on sale!  But I'm actually happy about that in a way because I love this top so much that I think I'm going to buy it in red.  This is one of those off-the-shoulder tops that actually stays off the shoulder.  I wore it out for dinner and it never rode up even once.  It's super comfortable too.  I love the cute ties on the sleeves!  It also has a built-in bra, which is a bonus.  But most of all I love it, of course, because it's pink!  This neon pink is not something I see very often (I don't recall the last time neon was trendy, but neon pink is one of my favourite colours so I will scoop it up when I do see it.  I just ordered this tee from Free People!).  I love pairing neon with other neon, especially pink with orange.  I have a pair of orange linen pants that this top would look great with.  Next time!  This time, for a casual dinner on a very hot evening, I paired this top with my favourite AGOLDE Parker Vintage Shorts.  I've been living in them, they're so comfortable.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

print mixing / stripes & florals

Happy hump day!  Today is my birthday and the day we finally move into our new house in Greenville, SC!!  We've been staying in a hotel for 10 days and are definitely at the point where we can't wait to move in!  In the meantime, we've been enjoying exploring our new city, especially trying out new restaurants (including a donut shop called The Donut Experiment).  We already have a couple of favourite spots, including Adams Bistro.  I packed a bunch of clothes/outfits, but have been basically living in a t-shirt and rotating 4 pairs of shorts.  I've also been living in my Adidas slides (which I paired with this romper before on the blog) since we've been doing a lot of walking.

But before we left Myrtle Beach, I had ordered these amazing ZARA Tied Jute Platform Wedges.  I normally do not find espadrilles comfortable but these are very comfortable.  I love the lace-up straps.  (Tip: I'm normally a 5.5/6 and the 5 fit perfectly.  The size 6 was too big.)  I first styled these wedge sandals with a denim on denim outfit, but then saw this Spell romper hanging and immediately changed my mind.  I love mixing prints.  Because both the floral romper and striped sandals are blue and white, I knew they would be the perfect match.  Keeping prints in the same colour family is the easiest way to mix prints.  Also, the subtle stripes do not compete with the bold floral print.  Stripes are also the safest print to mix with, IMO.

Happy print mixing!

multicolored knit & tassels

{ZARA Strappy Multicolored Top (matching shorts here, which I also bought and love);
One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt (other colours);
TOPSHOP FALCON Buckle Sandals (8 different styles!);

My last post was a bit of a downer so I'm perking things up with some colour, or actually a lot of colour!  This ZARA Strappy Multicolored Top is so fun with all of the colours and the tassels make it unique.  There are matching knit shorts (so comfy!), but you have to buy them separately.  I bought both pieces because I love a set and you get an outfit for under $70.  A set is great when you don't feel like thinking about putting an outfit together.  But I decided to let the top stand out so I paired it with my go-to One Teaspoon denim skirt.  I'm not a fan of Birkenstocks (I find them rather uncomfortable - but I believe you have to wear them in), but these similar Topshop sandals are actually quite comfortable even though they're synthetic, which I normally stay away from.  I love the gold touches!

It's our last full day in Myrtle Beach today!  We close our home tomorrow and then we're off to Greenville, SC, and staying in a hotel for a week before we move into our new home!

Hope everyone has a great week!
