colourful coat

I'm obsessed with this Mango Faux Fur Jacket by dRA.  As per my previous post, it is SO soft!  But mostly I love the colour.  It's rare for me to buy a black coat in the winter because I do not like the cold so I need anything that'll help with the whole leaving-the-house thing.

Exhibit A: red coat;
Exhibit B: blue coat;
Exhibit C: pink coat;
Exhibit D: green coat; and
Exhibit E: animal print coat.  Okay, this is not colourful per se, but how gorgeous is it?

Basically what I'm trying to say is black is boring (not that I don't think everyone should own a classic black coat).  I even recently bought this burgundy I.AM.GIA coat (purchased here, also avail here in 4 colours), but ended up giving it to my sister because she loved it.  But I also purchased it in red, which is avail here for under $50!

Back to this mango faux fur coat.  It's technically called a 'jacket', but to me a jacket is for spring or fall.  In the winter, you need a coat.  To me, this is cozy enough to be considered a coat.  The other night I paired it with my just-as-colourful Madewell sweater and a pair of UGG boots for some extra coziness.  Perfect outfit to brighten up a gloomy evening.

fringe sweater

Over the holidays, we took a road trip to Ottawa for a day of shopping (well, mostly eating).  I wore this Line & Dot fringe sweater, which I am obsessed with!  As soon as I saw it, I ordered it immediately.  I love a cable knit sweater, especially in white, and the fringe detail makes it so unique and fun.  I wore it with a pair of 7FAM skinny jeans and my go-to UGG boots, which are a must IMO when you live in/visit Canada.  Of course, another must-have for me has always been a toque/beanie.  We went to the mall the first day we arrived in Canada and I headed straight to Aritzia.  They had exactly what I was looking for.  This toque/beanie is super soft and definitely kept me warm(er).  It comes in a variety of colours too!  If I still lived in Canada, I definitely would've picked up a few.

chunky red knit and uggs

{sweater: Nasty Gal; jeans: Marciano (similar); beanie, rings: Free People;
boots: Ugg Australia; sunglasses: Prada (bought in-store)}

I have been looking for a chunky red knit sweater for a while now.  I've tried on a few, but they were too fitted or itchy.  I saw this on a blogger and immediately ordered it and was even more happy when it arrived.  It was exactly what I have been looking for.  Saturday was miserable and freezing, but Sunday was nice enough that I actually left the house as pictured.  I wore a thin tee underneath for added warmth.  The toque (beanie) and Ugg boots definitely helped.  I bought a new pair of Uggs because my other ones are fuchsia pink and I just recently ordered a pink coat so I thought that would be a little much.  I know Uggs may not be "trendy" anymore, but when you live in Canada you really do not care.  And I have been waiting for it to get colder so that I could start wearing them on my commute.  There is no denying how comfy (and warm!) they are.
