cream & white

Isabel Marant Etoile Suede Ankle Boots (sold out at FWRD, avail in black);

It's been gloomy the past several days and breezy yesterday morning so I put on jeans and booties while I still can (sure enough not too long after the sun came out and I was roasting).  I'm sure you can tell I'm a little obsessed with anything off-the-shoulder.  I couldn't resist this top.  It's so pretty.  I love the crochet details.  It's super lightweight and perfect for spring and summer.  I will warn you, it's quite sheer.  I paired it with white jeans since I love a monochrome look.  Black can be quite harsh so I chose to go with brown accessories, especially because I'm obsessed with this bolo necklace.  I love that you can style it in different ways.  Last time on the blog (see post here) I wrapped the necklace once around my neck and tied it into a bow.  This time I wrapped it three times and then just tied it into a knot.  This necklace makes any outfit that much more interesting, but especially looks great with anything off-the-shoulder.  Done and done.

summer whites

hat: BCBG; shoes: MICHAEL Michael Kors; sunglasses: Prada; lipstick: Smashbox 'Electric Pink'}

My go-to colour for summer is most definitely white.  I bought several items from Free People recently and the majority were white.  I also bought a few tops from GAP and J.Crew and they were all white.  Yesterday I even bought a pair of white Vans.  I love wearing white all year round, but there's just something about wearing white in the summer.  Of course if you have a tan then white looks even better, but for the past several years I try to avoid getting a tan because obviously it's not good for you.  (I have not had any luck with tanning lotions so if anyone has any recommendations, I would love to hear them!)  I've been looking for a pair of high-waisted white cutoffs and these fit great, but this top is what makes the outfit.  It is so beautiful.  I especially love the tassels!

p.s. I hated wearing lipstick until I discovered Smashbox 'Be Legendary' lipsticks.  It does not even feel like you are wearing lipstick and they make the most amazing colours!

white, red & gold

{top: Forever 21 (love this one); skort: Zara; shoes: Guess; sunglasses: Juicy Couture;
bag: MICHAEL Michael Kors (bought in-store, recent); bracelet: BCBG (silver version)}

I was on the hunt for the perfect red bag for fall.  I normally wear colours in the pink family so I didn't want to invest too much in a red bag since I probably wouldn't find much in my closet to go with it, although I do like red mixed with fuchsia.  Or I'd end up wearing all black all the time, which is not my style.  (I was thinking about splurging on this gorgeous Prada bag.  Maybe in black then.)  I'm petite so I don't like carrying large bags - I end up carrying way more than I need to and they become way too heavy.  Plus, I can never find what I'm looking for in my bags, let alone a huge bag.  So when I walked into Michael Kors, I spotted this adorable bag and bought it immediately.  It's red, mini and the price was just right.

skort

{shorts: Zara; top: Eight Sixty (bought at Mendocino); bag, sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs;
bracelets: J.Crew and H&M (in-store); shoes: Steve Madden (old); lips: Smashbox 'Fuchsia Flash'}

I love the idea of wearing shorts for a night out, but this is even better.  I remember wearing 'skorts' growing up.  I loved the fact that you looked all fancy but then could run around and not have to worry about having any celebrity-type accidents.  Well, many, MANY years later, I still love the concept.  I'm always nervous wearing mini skirts, so I fell in love instantly when I saw these Zara culotte shorts.  I love the cut (also more flattering than shorts, if you ask me) and the white pair are perfect for spring.  And now there will be no worries when getting in and out of a car.  Because, you know, you never know when paparazzi will be around to snap your picture.
