leopard print

Free People Wildcat Top (similar here);

I love a good leopard print.  I've worn the trendy print many times on the blog.  (I say trendy, but it's a classic in my opinion, but it seems to be around more so this season.)  I wore a leopard print coat on the blog here, a skirt (it's actually cheetah, but basically looks the same) here with OTK boots and here paired with yellow, a leopard print cardigan here, a snow leopard print skirt here styled for work, a leopard print toque here paired with denim on denim and, lastly, a leopard print bag here.  So when I saw this One Teaspoon leopard print skirt, I could not resist.  It's SO comfy.  It was a bit breezy out so I paired it with a long-sleeve (but breezy) Free People top.

Some more leopard print pieces I love below:

the polka dot

I've always loved a polka dot (see here layered over another print, polka dot denim here paired with more denim, here mixed with leopard and here mixed with florals).  As you can tell, I love mixing prints.  But this polka dot sweatshirt is cropped so I paired it with a high-waisted denim skirt.  It was another beautiful weekend and we headed out for ice cream.  At first I thought it was too warm to wear this sweatshirt, but it's light enough that I wasn't too hot and later it had cooled down so it kept me warm.

Speaking of loving polka dots, I just ordered these 7 For All Mankind High Waist Short with Frayed Hem and Dot Stamp.  If it wasn't warming up here in the South, I'd be jumping to buy this Rails Perci Sweater, which is now on sale!  Below are a few other polka dot items I'm eyeing:

Tularosa Dylan Romper, $198;
Tularosa Hattie Dress, $168;
  Majorelle Bali Top, $148;
Faithfull the Brand Lavender Top, $119;
English Factory Sleeveless Maxi Dress, $78;
Endless Rose Red Polka Dot Dress, $100;
ASOS Design Ruffle Cami, $32;
7 For All Mankind Polka Dot High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans, $229;
WHIT Polka Dot Linen Blouse, $338

spring sweater dress(ing)

It's officially spring, which means bright colours!  I love wearing brights so I wear them all year round, but it's especially hard to escape all of the colourful sweaters and dresses in the springtime.  I wore this very bright and colourful Wildfox Roadtrip Sweater (as a dress because I'm petite) on the blog here back in November, this time pairing it with a lighter hat for spring.  We were headed to the park and had to stop and take some pictures by the beautiful blooming trees.

If bright stripes are not your thing, this Free People Ottoman Slouchy Tunic, $148, comes in 7 solid colours and is perfect for transitioning into spring.

springtime romper

Lack of Color Zulu Rancher (also here)

If you've been reading my blog for awhile, you know I love a good romper.  I think I'll still be wearing a romper when I'm 60 years old.  They're so easy to thrown on and who doesn't want easy?  Plus, I'm petite so they work better for me than jumpsuits (although I am obsessing over this jumpsuit by Sanctuary, this one by Faithfull the Brand, this one by Show Me Your Mumu and this one by All Things Mochi).

This past weekend was gorgeous (yay, spring!) so we headed down to the Swamp Rabbit Trail.  I threw on this Free People romper because it's SO comfortable and perfect for a spring day.  Because of the long walk, I slipped on my white Vans, otherwise I would pair this flowy romper with a gladiator sandal or a pair of booties, depending on the time of day.  I also threw on my new favourite Lack of Color Hat that I can't stop wearing.  I thought if it was breezy, the wool would at least keep me warm.

I purchased this romper late last year so it may be limited in stock.  I'm also loving these new styles for spring:

Apiece Apart Mariol Denim Romper, $345;
Winston White Blakeley Romper, $150;
Free People Redondo Romper, $60;
MINKPINK Lazy Daze Romper, $89;
Blue Life Boho Ballerina Romper, $185;
Kos Resort Eyelet Romper, $128;
Jen's Pirate Booty Chrysanthemum Romper, $150 (comes in 5 colours!);
Sundress Mimi Gingham Romper, $156;
Madewell Wrap-Front Romper in Prairie Posies, $148;
ZARA Printed Rustic Jumpsuit, $49.9;
ASOS Design Petite Broderie Frill Sleeve Tie Front Peplum Romper, $51
ASOS Design Shirred Romper with Frill Sleeve, $40

biker short

ZARA Embroidered Top (love this, this and this one);
Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here)

When I first saw that biker shorts were a trend, I thought it was a joke.  And then I started to see it more and more and thought, oh no.  I was not on board.  At all.  But then of course Free People made a denim version and it brought me back to my pedal pusher wearing days, which are actually available here at Anthropologie and here at Shopbop, so I thought I would give them a try.  Only because they were denim.  I will definitely not be rocking the spandex kind.  Except maybe at the gym (I love these leopard print ones).  You will not see me rocking spandex biker shorts with heels, I promise you that.  (I am, however, feeling these faux leather ones by Blank Denim.)  I'm really happy with these Free People denim biker shorts.  They are basically just long shorts and perfect for those days where you just do not feel like rocking short shorts.  I paired these biker shorts with a black and white embroidered top I purchased at Zara last summer.

oversized sweatshirt

Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here)

I love a good sweatshirt.  Being a stay-at-home mom, I basically live in a sweatshirt.  I prefer an oversized one because I like a sweatshirt I can move around in.  I love this ZARA Contrasting Oversized Sweatshirt.  I mean, it has denim on the back!  I paired the sweatshirt with a pair of black FRAME skinny jeans because I like the added contrast, but I plan on going full on Canadian tuxedo with it (i.e., blue denim on blue denim).

Here are some other oversized sweatshirts I'm eyeing (or own):

FRIENDS Logo Crew-Neck Sweatshirt (my favourite sweatshirt, I own 3 of them!);
Free People High Road Pullover (comes in 4 colours);
ZARA Soft Feel Sweatshirt (basic, but I love the colour);

warm sun

Free People Nightingale Cardi (avail in 3 colours);

After about a week of rain and gloominess, the sun finally came out!  Not only did it come out, but it was gorgeous out.  This Free People Nightingale Cardi is basically sunshine in a sweater.  I've always been a fan of yellow so I'm very happy it's been a 'trend'.  This cardi will keep you warm like the sun, which helps when there's no sun to be found.  Cardigans are great transition pieces - they can be thrown on for added warmth, but taken off when the sun warms up the air.  I threw this cardi over a denim slip dress that I bought at Aritzia, which I will be living in this spring/summer.  Pair it with a white tee underneath or wear it as is.  It's one of those dresses you just throw on and go.  Just like this cardigan.
