valley girl

Hope everyone had a nice, relaxing weekend!  I was hoping to get to the beach, but I was pretty unmotivated this weekend.  I can't seem to get my energy back from the gloomy week we had last week, but this Free People top put a little pep in my step today!  It's the perfect little top for a day at the beach, but I couldn't help but put it on today.  It's such a fun top!  I love the bell sleeves and the colour is SO pretty.

I love that you can wear it two different ways, but I prefer off-the-shoulder.  Best part, this top is only $58!  It also comes in black.  It's a crop top so I paired it with a pair of black, high-waisted cutoffs.  I purchased these cutoffs on the Levi's site and most sizes are sold out, but I found them at Urban Outfitters, Revolve and Shopbop.

Happy shopping!

minty fresh floral two piece

3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Mini Satchel (colour sold out, love these for spring, LOVE this mint one);

I came across this set (pieces sold separately) while I was doing my usual Friday #OOTD post (see here) and purchased it before I had even finalized my blog post.  I fell in love with the colour, print, details.  (I also knew it would go perfectly with my new bag.)  I almost purchased the top alone, but the set is so pretty I had to buy both pieces.  The pieces are so individually unique that I can't wait to mix and match them with other pieces in my closet.  But I wore it as a set for Mother's Day.  (It was in the 90s so we had to re-shoot this outfit a few days later.)  We went for crepes and then to the beach.  It was a great day, but HOT.  But this set was perfect for both brunch and hanging out on the beach.  (You will see that it is supposed to be a crop top, but I have been eating a little too much ice cream lately since it's been so hot so I wore the shorts a little bit higher to create a romper-like vibe.  I do love a romper.  Win-win situation if you ask me.)

#OOTD / floral & lace

spring

Happy Friday!  Today's #OOTD is inspired by this beautiful For Love & Lemons crop top (also here and here - it's selling out fast, but it also comes in a blouse, a mini dress and a maxi dress!)  It has everything you need for a spring top: florals, lace and cut out shoulders (a huge trend).  I just scored a dark denim skirt on sale, but I love this one because of the light colour, which is also perfect for spring.  I'm obsessed with the jean version of this skirt (people have mixed feelings about the kick flare trend, but I love it), but because this top is cropped I went with the skirt so you can wear it higher on your waist.  I love a clog sandal and red accessories add the perfect touch.

Happy shopping!

crop top & overalls

overalls: Topshop; bracelets: H&M (old); hat: Urban Outfitters; sunglasses: Prada}

I thought this crop top was super adorable and then it arrived and I thought, what the heck was I thinking?  I have gained a little bit of weight since moving to South Carolina (o.m.g. the food!), but I said F.U. to my fitness app and enjoyed the summer, especially since my sister who loves chips and ice cream as much as I do was visiting for the past month.  Only problem was when I wanted to wear this crop top, I was not comfortable wearing it with my, ahem, a bit-too-tight-now high-waisted shorts, which is what I would normally wear a crop top with.  So rather than looking like a stuffed sausage (mmm sausage) and feeling uncomfortable or having to return this top (a score at under $50!), I had to think of a quick solution.  Around the same time, I was drooling over all of the overalls I keep seeing for fall (like these and these) and it came to me... Overalls!  I couldn't buy a pair of the ones I've been drooling over since it's deathly hot here, so I decided on these white ones, which will take me into fall with a striped tee, cardigan and booties.

felt fedora

hat: Juicy Couture (old, love this and this one); bag: Louis Vuitton (old); sunglasses: Prada}

I love hats, but I especially love fall hats.  (I also love toques, but that's because I have no choice but to wear them because it gets so cold here in the winter.)  I bought this one from Juicy Couture last fall, but ordered a couple new ones - from Urban Outfitters and Free People (links above), and recently bought a gray one from BCBG.  They not only complete an outfit in my opinion, but they're really great for bad hair days.  Although I feel like summer is flying by too fast, I am really looking forward to fall fashion and am slowly transitioning with hats.  I just hope it doesn't get too cold too fast.  I feel like we just got over that looooong winter.

ice cream & kimonos

{overalls: Mendocino; tee: Sunday Best via Aritzia; kimono: Free People;
shoes: Guess (old); bracelets: H&M (in-store); sunglasses: Prada}

I never need an excuse to get ice cream, but I heard it was National Ice Cream Day on Sunday so, of course, I had to celebrate.  Sunday was that in-between weather where the sun was shining and felt hot, but there was a breeze so it felt cool in the shade; so I wore these overall shorts to keep cool and this beautiful Free People kimono to keep warm.  This kimono is becoming my go-to piece for those cooler summer nights.  I had picked up this cute little crop top from Aritzia, which if you're like me and not fully comfortable wearing crop tops on their own, wearing them under overalls is a great way to wear them.
