Nordstrom half-yearly sale pt I

#Nordstrom half-yearly sale pt I

Nordstrom's 'Half-Yearly Sale' started today.  I've been combing through thousands of items and, since there are so many great pieces to choose from, broke my edit down into 2+ posts.  Part I includes items that are great to transition into spring with (since it's still a little cool in some areas) and part II will have more warm-weather pieces (stay tuned!).  Most items are 40% off, but only until June 4!  This Free People Weekend Wanderer Military Jacket (top, left) is the perfect jacket for spring.  I prefer whites for spring, but it also comes in green and black.  A sandal (I've been eyeing these leopard-print Steve Madden Inca Sandals) is a great way to dip your toe into spring (pun intended, sorry).  You can pair them with jeans and a long-sleeved top, like this pretty See by Chloe Fishnet Lace & Fringe Top, or this beautiful TIBI Cotton Poplin Asymmetrical Top.  I love the colour and the cold shoulder detail.  There are many spring bags on sale.  I love this Rebecca Minkoff Love Crossbody Bag in Sea Mist.  It would look great with an all-white outfit, or paired with another fun colour like the lavender TIBI top above.

levi's & old skool vans

Free People Kimono (old);
Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here);

A quick post today.  We're back from a 48 hour+ trip to Canada and I am exhausted.  It was so great to see our friends and family that we have not seen in a year or two!  Before we left, it was gloomy and cooler here in Myrtle Beach, which I feel prepared me for the weather in Canada ha.  I had purchased a couple of pairs of jeans for spring back in late February and finally had a chance to wear them.  Along with breaking in a pair of MIRANDA + MOTHER The Super Stunner Ankle Jeans (see post here), I also broke in these Levi's Wedgie Straight Jeans.  (If you're looking for a high-waisted pair of jeans, I would recommend either pair of jeans.)  I paired these Levi's Wedgie Straight Jeans with a pair of Old Skool Vans.

off-the-shoulder frills

Brixton Dalila Hat (this colour sold out, dark brown here);
Prada Sunglasses (also here)}

The calm before the storm.  Yesterday there was a storm coming as we started to take pictures so unfortunately did not get to take many shots of this beautiful ZARA off-the-shoulder top.  Thankfully we did not stick around outside as we received a tornado warning shortly after we got home!  I've always loved ZARA, but they have been killing it this spring with their pretty tops!  All of the ruffles, frilled sleeves, floral prints, etc. you could ask for.  (I also bought this black and white eyelet top and this top with embroidered daisies.)  The frills on this off-the-shoulder top are so pretty and flowy, they just make you want to twirl around.  Of course, I love the off-the-shoulder detail.  As much as I prefer shopping online (trying on clothes in the comfort of your own home, no lines, most of the time your size is in stock, etc.), we're heading to Florida next week and I'm excited to shop at the ZARA now open in Disney Springs!

red & pink

{Style Mafia Aris Top (also here and here, similar peach one here);
Jeffrey Campbell Vionnet Flats (they also come in grey here and other colours/leather here);
Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here);
Prada Sunglasses}

Red and pink are not only my two favourite colours separately, but I love pairing them together (as seen on the blog for Valentine's Day before here).  I was not specifically shopping for Valentine's Day when I came across this Style Mafia Aris Top on Shopbop, but immediately fell in love with the ruffles, cutout shoulders and, of course, colour.  But since Valentine's Day is just around the corner, rather than styling this pretty red top with any pair of jeans, I styled it with these pink Paige jeans I bought a few years ago and pink flats.  I felt like a walking Valentine ha.  The great thing about this top is that you can dress it up (it would also look great with a pair of black jeans), or dress it down because it is a sweatshirt.  Yes, a sweatshirt.  A red, ruffled, cold shoulder sweatshirt.

Happy Valentine's Day!

blue velvet crush

Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here);

'I would drape myself in velvet if it were socially acceptable.'  -George Costanza

Sorry, that quote is so good I had to use it twice on my blog ha.  I hope everyone had a great Christmas!  My last (late, sorry) post of 2016 and it's fitting that it ends with velvet.  Not only is this ZARA Velvet Cut-Out Shoulder Sweater perfect for New Year's Eve, it is SO soft and luscious you will want to wear it every day.  It honestly feels like you're wearing a t-shirt (well, almost).  I originally wanted this sweater in green, but they didn't have my size at the time, but I'm happy I ended up going with the navy since navy does look great on brunettes and I feel you can get away with wearing navy more in the daytime.  Either way, just pair it with Levi's and white sneakers and anything is pretty much acceptable for daytime.

You can shop other velvet pieces here and here.

Happy shopping but, most importantly, I hope all of you have a happy new year!

pink flats in Greenville

{Jeffrey Campbell Vionnet Flats;
Free People Bittersweet Tee (more colours here);
7 For All Mankind Slim Illusion Skinny Jeans (similar);
Free People Denim Jacket;
Rebecca Minkoff Mini Suki Saddle Bag (love this colour, other colours here);
Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here);

Hope everyone had a great holiday!  We headed to Greenville, SC, for Thanksgiving.  It felt like summer when we were there, but looked like the beginning of fall.  It was SO beautiful.  We had so much fun exploring Greenville.  I packed about 6 pairs of shoes, but for 2 days straight wore these Jeffrey Campbell Vionnet Flats.  They are extremely comfortable.  I walked for hours in them.  No blisters, nothing.  (I almost sized down because at first they felt a bit big, but thankfully decided to keep them.  Although I'm nervous they'll stretch.)  They also come in grey and white!

cold shoulder tee

{Free People Bittersweet Tee (9 more colours here);
One Teaspoon Bandit Shorts (similar, style I'm wearing sold out);

While I wait for this cold shoulder sweater to arrive, and the appropriate weather to wear it, I'll be living in this Free People Bittersweet Tee.  On a day-to-day basis, I usually wear a black tee.  Not because I'm a fan of black, quite the opposite, but I'm lazy and hate putting on a bra.  The cold shoulder at least gives a black tee some life.  You can dress this tee up, but I paired it with One Teaspoon Bandits because this past weekend was SO gorgeous.  We spent all weekend at the beach.  (And then went for ice cream - ice cream not shown because I don't even attempt to take cute ice cream shots in this heat.)  As much as I'm ready to dress for fall, I'm appreciating every hot day we get.  It's hard to believe it's November tomorrow!

Hope everyone has a fun Halloween!

#OOTD / cold shoulder sweater

#OOTD / cold shoulder

Happy Friday!  Part of my morning routine is checking out Shopbop's new items.  There is always something new.  I 'heart' my favourites, but sometimes there is that item that is love at first sight and I add it to cart immediately.  That's how I felt as soon as I saw this J.O.A. Cold Shoulder Sweater.  I had a feeling it would sell out quickly, but it was so hot here it seemed silly to buy a turtleneck sweater, even with the cold shoulder, so I was going to keep an eye on my cart (Shopbop also emails you if your 'hearts' are low in stock) and if it showed there were only a few left then I would purchase it anyway.  Then a few days later Shopbop had their big 'Event of the Season' and I was excited that I would get this sweater for 25% off (already a steal at $75 IMO), but knew I had to jump on it.  But I was stuck in a car with a crappy signal and sure enough it sold out.  I searched everywhere for this sweater but could not find it.  (This Pam & Gela Cold Shoulder Turtleneck was going to replace my need for this sweater, but I thought I would be patient and wait.  Maybe someone would return an XS.)

Yesterday I did what I usually do, checked Shopbop's new items, and there it was.  This J.O.A. Cold Shoulder Sweater, stocked in every size.  I was browsing other items and probably not even half an hour later, I noticed there was only one left in my size.  I panicked, but quickly checked out.  It's always funny to me when a piece of clothing affects me this way.  There are SO many cold shoulder sweaters out there right now, but for some reason I had to have this one.  I think it's a combination of the colour (it's also avail in black here, but I wanted the ivory), shape and thickness.  I cannot wait to wear it, especially since it's starting to get cool here in the evenings.  I picture the sweater with a pair of cropped jeans and these adorable Jeffrey Campbell Vionnet Flats.  I love the colour of this Marc Jacobs Gotham Small Bauletto Satchel.  Wine and pink are one of my favourite colour combos for fall.
