falling for . . . wedge booties and beanies

{sweater, beanie: Free People; jeans (similar): 7 For All Mankind; rings: Gorjana;

It's beanie weather!  (So much for not wearing chunky sweaters yet.)  I love a good beanie, or toque as we Canadians call it.  I have a collection of them.  I also have a collection of wedges.  I cannot resist a wedge anything... sandal, boot...  I'm petite so I prefer to have some height, but also prefer comfort so wedges are the perfect solution.  I definitely have more wedges than any other type of shoe or boot in my closet.  I love these MICHAEL Michael Kors ones.  They're fairly high but very comfortable.  They also come in an olive green, which I'm debating getting too because they're too good.

monochrome | grey

I love a monochrome look, although I never am one to wear all black.  But grey on grey, white on white... I love, especially for fall/winter.  I've been on the hunt for a while for grey jeans and I found these at GAP and they're super comfortable.  I paired them with this grey tee for now, but I'm looking forward to wearing them with a chunky turtleneck.  I'm stocking up after the winter we had last year.  I just don't want to rush into wearing them quite yet.  I'm trying to hold out until December.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

SpongeBob

{beanie: Moschino; sweater: Urban Outfitters (old, similar here);
jeans (similar): ZARA; sneakers: Converse; sunglasses: Prada}

I became obsessed with this Moschino SpongeBob sweater when I saw it on classisinternal during NYFW, and I went back and forth whether I should splurge on it, but then came across the more budget-friendlier beanie.  It's getting very cold here and beanies are my best friend so it was a no-brainer.  (Although yesterday was quite gorgeous out.)  I still wish sometimes that I had splurged on the sweater, but then my daughter (below) wouldn't be able to steal it from me.  Why so serious?

cricket

rings (similar): Free People; sneakers: Converse; sunglasses: Prada}

I've seen the Rag & Bone version of this sweater a lot in the blogosphere (which naturally means it's sold out everywhere).  I usually don't like to buy what everyone else is wearing, but it was one of those days where you want to buy something but can't find anything.  So I gave this sweater a shot and loved it.  The v neck is very flattering, although I would not wear it without something underneath to work.  I thought about pairing it with boyfriend jeans, but they're distressed and there is no way I'm putting those back on anytime soon.  (I was shivering in these photos.  "It's warm in the sun", I was told.  Don't believe anyone when they say that to you.)

plaid, stripes & thigh highs

{jacket: BB Dakota; dress: Topshop (similar); thigh highs: Free People (sold out, similar);
boots, bag: MICHAEL Michael Kors; hat: Urban Outfitters; sunglasses: Prada}

These are pretty much my go-tos for fall: plaid, stripes & thigh highs.  I'm especially obsessed with this plaid jacket.  It just makes every outfit that much cooler.  I paired it with more plaid last time (see here) so this time I thought I would pair it with this striped dress I bought this past spring/summer since it's been fairly mild out.  This jacket would look great with an all black outfit, or jeans and a simple tee, but I like to mix things up.

orange glow

{sweater, boots (similar): Marc by Marc Jacobs; shirt: Madewell; jeans: 7 For All Mankind;
jacket: Anthropologie (similar here and here); rings (new colour): Free People; sunglasses: Prada}

Happy Thanksgiving!  I don't wear a lot of orange, but what better month is there to wear orange than October?  I was not sure I could pull off this beautiful Marc by Marc Jacobs sweater, but I love wearing brights and wearing it with a denim shirt underneath definitely makes it easier.  It also makes sense to celebrate the holiday with a little 'Canadian Tuxedo' action.  Pairing the look with this military jacket definitely tones the bright orange down.  And because the temp has dropped drastically this week, I'm already throwing on my snow boots.  They're super comfortable and cozy and that's what this weekend was all about.  Besides, you know, family and turkey.

tweedy

{Dylan Tweedy Pullover, socks, rings: Free People; sunglasses: Prada;

This sweater is everything.  Because I'm petite I could get away with wearing it as a dress (almost), but I'll be living in it with skinny jeans and over-the-knee boots.  That's pretty much my uniform for when it starts to get really cold.  This sweater could also be dressed up for work.  It's super cozy and, well, just perfect.

falling for . . . gingham

{pants, rings (other colours): Free People; sweater: ZARA; hat: Urban Outfitters;

I saw these Free People pants in one of their lookbooks and had them on my mind for weeks and thought, why am I not just ordering them?!  The price is amazing for the quality.  I thought for some reason the material would be thinner but it's a nice thick material that will keep you warm in the fall.  I'm even thinking of getting one of the other colours they're that nice.  I'm loving the weather these days, just a little cool that you need a lightweight sweater.  I just love the way nature looks in the fall.  If only it would last until June and we could skip winter altogether.
