cold shoulder tee

{Free People Bittersweet Tee (9 more colours here);
One Teaspoon Bandit Shorts (similar, style I'm wearing sold out);

While I wait for this cold shoulder sweater to arrive, and the appropriate weather to wear it, I'll be living in this Free People Bittersweet Tee.  On a day-to-day basis, I usually wear a black tee.  Not because I'm a fan of black, quite the opposite, but I'm lazy and hate putting on a bra.  The cold shoulder at least gives a black tee some life.  You can dress this tee up, but I paired it with One Teaspoon Bandits because this past weekend was SO gorgeous.  We spent all weekend at the beach.  (And then went for ice cream - ice cream not shown because I don't even attempt to take cute ice cream shots in this heat.)  As much as I'm ready to dress for fall, I'm appreciating every hot day we get.  It's hard to believe it's November tomorrow!

Hope everyone has a fun Halloween!

#OOTD / floral printed tunic

#OOTD / floral printed tunic

Happy Saturday!  Yesterday I was talking about how there are times when you come across something that you have to buy immediately and today I came across this Free People Violet Hill Printed Tunic and fell in love right away.  I'm concerned about the size because it starts at size 2 and I'm a size 0, but I'm crossing my fingers.  This tunic comes in four colours and I seriously want them all.  I would pair this tunic with a black hat as shown and the Stuart Weitzman Lowland Boot (I love them in this wine colour).  I also am obsessing over this Sancia Milla Jet Set Mini Bag.  I love a mini bag because I'm so petite and love the fringe detail.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

#OOTD / cold shoulder sweater

#OOTD / cold shoulder

Happy Friday!  Part of my morning routine is checking out Shopbop's new items.  There is always something new.  I 'heart' my favourites, but sometimes there is that item that is love at first sight and I add it to cart immediately.  That's how I felt as soon as I saw this J.O.A. Cold Shoulder Sweater.  I had a feeling it would sell out quickly, but it was so hot here it seemed silly to buy a turtleneck sweater, even with the cold shoulder, so I was going to keep an eye on my cart (Shopbop also emails you if your 'hearts' are low in stock) and if it showed there were only a few left then I would purchase it anyway.  Then a few days later Shopbop had their big 'Event of the Season' and I was excited that I would get this sweater for 25% off (already a steal at $75 IMO), but knew I had to jump on it.  But I was stuck in a car with a crappy signal and sure enough it sold out.  I searched everywhere for this sweater but could not find it.  (This Pam & Gela Cold Shoulder Turtleneck was going to replace my need for this sweater, but I thought I would be patient and wait.  Maybe someone would return an XS.)

Yesterday I did what I usually do, checked Shopbop's new items, and there it was.  This J.O.A. Cold Shoulder Sweater, stocked in every size.  I was browsing other items and probably not even half an hour later, I noticed there was only one left in my size.  I panicked, but quickly checked out.  It's always funny to me when a piece of clothing affects me this way.  There are SO many cold shoulder sweaters out there right now, but for some reason I had to have this one.  I think it's a combination of the colour (it's also avail in black here, but I wanted the ivory), shape and thickness.  I cannot wait to wear it, especially since it's starting to get cool here in the evenings.  I picture the sweater with a pair of cropped jeans and these adorable Jeffrey Campbell Vionnet Flats.  I love the colour of this Marc Jacobs Gotham Small Bauletto Satchel.  Wine and pink are one of my favourite colour combos for fall.

gypsy dancer baby doll

525 America Cardigan (similar here, love this star print one and this one looks SO cozy);

Free People is my favourite brand, but Spell is a close second.  Their pieces are SO beautiful and perfect for this time of year in the South.  I was eyeing the Gypsy Dancer Blouse because I love the one I blogged about earlier this week so much, but then came across this baby doll dress.  I've been looking for that perfect floral dress for fall that you can layer with and immediately knew this was the one.  (Spell pieces sell super quick so I added to cart as fast as I could!  I also ordered the Folklore Blouse and sadly it's already sold out, but they have a 'back in stock notification'.)  Right now we're in that in-between weather where it's cool in the mornings and breezy in the evenings, but hot in the daytime.  The short sleeves and flowy vibe of this baby doll dress are perfect for day, but then you can throw on a cardigan (I love a boyfriend cardigan) and boots to keep you warm.  I considered booties, but when I can get away with wearing them, I will always choose these Stuart Weitzman over-the-knee boots.

leopard everything

leopard

There are certain items in my closet that I will hold onto forever: my leopard print jacket, leopard print skirt, the leopard print cardigan I wore the other day (also seen here) and this leopard print bag.  There is a rule that if you don't wear something for one year, you should donate or sell it, but I disagree when it comes to a leopard print piece.  Leopard is classic and trendy at the same time, depending on how you wear it.  One of the things on my must-have list for fall was a new pair of white sneakers (trendy).  I went with these KAANAS San Rafael Sneakers (pictured above) because I love the touch of leopard.  The leopard touch makes a plain pair of white sneakers unique, but because leopard is now considered a neutral, you can still wear them with anything.

You can go bold with a leopard print coat (ASOS and Topshop have great options under $200), or a pair of leopard print pants (obsessing over these Topshop Leopard Print Cropped Trousers, left), or by pairing your leopard print piece with another print like polka dots or stripes.  I love leopard print paired with black, of course (pretty much the only time I wear all black), but it really stands out against a great pair of blue jeans.  Preferably cropped with a great pair of booties.  Or you can do just a touch of leopard with a pair of shoes (you can't go wrong with these classic Sam Edelman Felicia Flats (bottom, right), or with a leopard print bralette peaking through a pretty blouse (again, just a touch).

denim skirt & boho blouse (fall edition)

{Spell & the Gypsy Collective Blouse (love this and this similar one);
Isabel Marant Etoile Booties (similar here);
Brixton Dalila Hat in Brown (colour I'm wearing sold out);

I was eyeing a Spell blouse recently and remembered about this one I bought back in April that I don't think I've worn since I last blogged about it because it has been extremely hot since then.  (I can't wait to pair it with these Free People flared jeans.)  It's still quite warm here (people were still in their bikinis at the beach!), but I'm ready for fall and nothing can stop me.  So I paired my Spell blouse with Isabel Marant Etoile booties (when it's cooler I'll be pairing this outfit with these Stuart Weitzman over-the-knee boots) and this One Teaspoon Junkyard skirt, which I'm clearly obsessed with since it's the fourth time I've blogged about it this month.  I swear, I wear other things.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

lace cami + booties + a leopard cardigan

Urban Outfitters Cardigan (old, leopard cardigan here and here, LOVE this leopard bomber);
MICHAEL Michael Kors Booties (old);

Happy Friday!  I started getting excited with the cooler temps in Myrtle Beach (mostly in the mornings and evenings, but better than nothing) and maybe my visit to Canada where it was freezing triggered me to start shopping for fall (coincidentally the major Shopbop sale - sadly now over - started on our way home so I picked up some fall items).  But since we've been back it's back up to 80 degrees plus and, while I'm not complaining because I missed the heat, I am now in the what-the-hell-do-I-wear-now phase.  And this is how this outfit came about.  I was never a booties and shorts kind of girl because it never really made sense in Canada, but it's definitely a combo I'm repeating here.  While I could get away with sandals, I'm kind of over them.  And I also know my fellow Canadians are prepping for fall weather.  Basically my shorts can be replaced with jeans and you have yourself a fall outfit: a lace cami (or brami), a leopard-print cardigan or leopard print bomber (leopard is once again huge for fall!) and booties.  You can even add a white tee (see my post here for inspo and my favourite camis).

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

denim skirt & OTK boots

{ZARA Sweater (last year's, similar here and love this lace-up one and this one);
Stuart Weitzman The Lowland Boot (colour I'm wearing appears to be sold out);

This is now the third time I've styled this One Teaspoon Junkyard skirt this month alone (last seen with sneakers and a tee here and with a boho blouse and lace-up sandals here).  I'm hoping they make this skirt in black because it has become my go-to piece for fall.  It's a nice break from cutoffs.  Actually, I wore it for a fourth time yesterday to the beach (with a Spell blouse and Isabel Marant booties - post to come!), but now that one's in the wash so I need a back-up.  It cooled down quite a bit before we left for Canada and I was able to pair this skirt with my favourite Stuart Weitzman over-the-knee boots (one investment I will never regret).  Add a cozy grey sweater and it's the perfect outfit for fall.  I have a feeling this outfit will be on repeat.

blush paisley printed tunic

I immediately fell in love with the colour of this Free People tunic (and clearly so did everyone else because it was sold out by the time I received it in the mail.  Size small currently back in stock!).  It comes in navy now (tip: navy looks great on brunettes!)  Because it's still warm here, I paired this blush paisley printed tunic with pink Jeffrey Campbell booties, but I'm excited to wear it with my Stuart Weitzman over-the-knee boots once it starts to cool down.  I added a grey hat because I love pairing pink with grey, it's probably one of my favourite colour combos for fall.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

shopbop event of the season

Shopbop Event of the Season sale

Shopbop is having their awesome sale where everything is at least 25% off (if you spend over $500 you get 30% off).  I spent all morning today carefully deciding on which items to purchase.  (I received the sneak peak email the day before the sale started but it was during our 15 hour drive back to Myrtle Beach and my phone is garbage, literally shuts off when it shows I still have 50% battery left.  I should probably be buying a new phone instead of shopping the sale, but these are the tough choices you have to make in life.  The next day our internet was still out from the hurricane so I couldn't shop the sale until today.)  Sadly, most of the items I've been eyeing (my 'hearts') were already sold out so I had to start from scratch.  A sale where you can literally choose anything can be overwhelming so I made a list.  Hopefully this list (and an edit of my picks, above) will help you.

  • a new pair of (cropped) jeans
  • a bomber jacket
  • something velvet
  • mules/loafers
  • booties
  • (white) sneakers
  • transitional tops, including something with a cold shoulder or off-the-shoulder
  • a bag in a fall colour (anything other than black)

denim skirt & boho blouse

Another day at the beach before the hurricane, in the evening this time, I wore this One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt - again (last seen paired with sneakers and a tee here).  This time I dressed it up a little with this Tularosa Huxley Top (last seen here with black cutoffs) and lace-up sandals.  I was never much of a denim skirt kind of girl (I own a few denim skirts and hardly wear them - again, the whole thighs rubbing when it's super hot thing is probably a factor).  But it's safe to say this One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt was a great investment.  Maybe because it's somewhat cooling down in the South (i.e., not in the 80s).  Or maybe because it's a killer denim skirt.  I even wore it a third time before we left (so that makes 3x in one week).  It cooled down even more in Myrtle Beach just before we left and I paired this denim skirt with a sweater and over-the-knee boots (post to come!).

Not only are beach days the best days, but beach nights are pretty freakin' great too.
