mellow yellow & the basic tee

{Rag & Bone/JEAN Suzanne Tee (other colours here);
jeans: Free People; hat: Brixton; sunglasses: Prada}

I've been wearing tank tops and rompers all summer because it's been deathly hot since we moved here in June and now that it's starting to cool down a little (and I mean a little - I put these jeans on because it had cooled down and I was hot after 5 minutes), and I'm a new stay-at-home mom, I realize I don't own that many t-shirts.  I have always focused on work clothes and, well, I don't work out.  It's great to shop for tees now since fall stuff is moving in and the summer stuff is going on sale.  I've been looking for basic-but-not-too-basic tees and I thought this Rag & Bone one was pretty.  I can't justify spending too much on a white or black tee, but I discovered Everlane through another blogger and they have the basics I've been looking for, for a reasonable price.

jumper

{Free People Take Heart Jumperhat: Urban Outfitters;
Free People Sammy Raw Edge Kimono (this pattern sold out);

OMG I love this jumper.  It is so comfortable and I wish I bought it at the beginning of the summer because it's the perfect piece to just throw on and go.  It looks like a dress so you don't look like a slob, but you really feel like you're wearing pajamas.  It's a great price at $50 and it comes in other colours so I might just have to grab another one myself.  It looks great with my new denim vest, but I opted for this beautiful, lightweight kimono, which is perfect for the cool mornings we've been getting.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

florals & sneakers on a rainy day

sneakers: Converse; hat: Urban Outfitters; sunglasses: Prada}

I hate wearing sandals on a rainy day and I can't jump into wearing booties quite yet, so sneakers it is.  Converse has a line of rubber sneakers, which are perfect for rainy days (love these*).  I'm not complaining about the rain though because I'm happy I'm still wearing shorts mid-September (last year I was starting to wear cozy sweaters and layering already).  These shorts are one of the shorts I recently bought on sale (over 60% off!).  They're high-waisted, which I love, and super comfortable.  I can definitely see myself wearing these through the fall with a cozy sweater.  When the weather permits.

fall plaids

I'm obsessed with plaid (see here, here and here).  So naturally one of the first items I bought for fall is something plaid.  I love the back of this Free People top.  Free People just adds that extra detail to make an item special.  I've also been on the hunt for a new bag.  Since I was becoming a stay-at-home-mom, I sold my Prada (gasp!).  As much I loved that bag, I would not have used it as an everyday bag since I was no longer working.  I have now gone to the other side of the scale and my last two bag purchases have been under $50.  I think I was just as excited finding a bag that looks this good for that price, as I was buying my first Prada bag.

new hat & old jumper

{jumper / overall dress: Velvet (old, love this, this, this and LOVE this one);
tee: Sunday Best (similar here, here and here);
Brixton Dalila Hat in Sand; bracelets: H&M (old); bag: Urban Outfitters; sunglasses: Prada}

I hope everyone had a great long weekend!  It rained on and off but we managed to get to the beach for a short while.  I'm in fall mode though, I think I'm officially done swimming.  I swam more in the past 3 months than probably 5 summers in Canada!  This outfit sums up exactly how I'm feeling these days: ready for fall, but still needing to dress for the heat.  I bought my first Brixton hat recently in blue (see here) and I wanted a nice camel colour to transition into fall with since the pieces I have slowly been picking up are in this colour family.  These hats fit well (they have various sizes, which most hat companies only offer in O/S) and are very reasonably priced.  I have had this jumper for years and I'm not even sure the last time I wore it.  Paired with a striped cropped tee, which will also transition nicely into fall paired with cardigans, etc., I think this outfit scratches my wanting-to-wear-fall-pieces-now itch.

denim, crochet & fringe

{Free People Easy Breezy Crochet SlipMadewell The Jean Vest in Cora Wash;
Matiko Morgan Fringe Suede Sandals}

It's already the second time I've reached for this Madewell vest (currently 30% off!).  It goes perfectly with a maxi dress.  I've been meaning to pull this slip dress out all summer.  I love the crochet details and would love it in a different colour, but can't quite decide which colour.  I'm thinking black for fall paired with a cozy sweater.  As much as I'm dying to pick up some sweaters right now because I get so excited for fall, Free People has some killer summer items on sale right now.  It feels like it's getting hotter in South Carolina so I'm loving that I can stock up on shorts for practically nothing.  These fringe sandals are also 30% off.  Happy long-weekend shopping!

tropical wave

bracelets: H&M (old); hat: Talula; sunglasses: Prada}

Another hot day, another tank and cutoffs combo.  I have so many skirts and dresses that I would love to wear, but it's so hot and I hate the feeling of my thighs sticking together (#nothighgap).  I'll save those for when it starts getting cooler and I can pair them with a cardigan, which I've been dying to shop for but it's pointless right now (although the mornings are starting to feel a bit cooler, yay!).  Come December/January I'm going to miss these hot days so I'm not going to complain and enjoy the summer sales.  I've picked up this top, along with some great stuff at Shopbop recently.
