cozy striped mini dress

Free People All Lined Up Mini Dress (also at Revolve here, for rent here)
Hope everyone had a relaxing long weekend!  It was a hot one here.  This Free People dress is another item I rented from Nuuly.  It's on sale for under $50 at Free People!  It also comes in blue, which is selling out at Free People, but I found all sizes currently available at Lulus here.  I love the puff sleeves!  It's a very comfy dress to wear so you could pair it with some white sneakers or cowboy boots, but it has an open back so it feels a little fancy so I paired it with a pair of Tony Bianco wedge sandals.  I would wear this outfit out to dinner, but unfortunately I didn't get a chance to wear it out and just took some quick pictures in our backyard since I'm shipping my rentals back to Nuuly today.  I ended up liking the lighting so you will probably be seeing a lot of outfits shot here ha.

Happy shopping/renting!

floral romper

When I was choosing items to rent from Nuuly, I was mainly thinking about comfort so this Free People romper was at the top of my list.  It's sold out mostly everywhere, but I did find it for purchase here.  (I've linked it above for renting and linked a similar one from Madewell.)  I've mentioned many times on the blog that I love a romper.  They're so easy to throw on.  (I love jumpsuits just as much but unfortunately they're usually too long on me.)  This romper is flowy, which makes it comfy to wear around the house, but has an open back which fancies it up.  I'd wear it out to dinner with some wedge sandals (I'm eyeing these Soludos Como Platform Wedge sandals).  But we're not ready to eat out just yet, even though they've opened up restaurants here in South Carolina, so I threw on my Adidas slides and we headed back to the park.  My husband and son were throwing the football around and I decided to join them, which proves a romper works for just about anything!

take me to the beach (a look back)

Spell & The Gypsy Folk Town Blouse (similar here, love this one by Cleobella,
eyeing this peasant blouse from Anthropologie, which comes in 11 colours!)
Brixton hat (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

I love this Spell blouse.  One of my favourite pieces I've owned for sure.  I love the colour and print.  I bought a couple of pieces from the Folk Town line and I really hope Spell brings the print back in the near future!  I'd love this colour in a boho midi dress.  Just putting it out into the universe!

Free People lace top (similar here)
J Brand Maria High Rise Skinny Jeans in Blanc
Brixton hat (similar here)

I love an all-white outfit, any time of the year.  We loved going to the beach in the evening, after grabbing a bite to eat down the road.  I mean, look at that sky.

Show Me Your Mumu Rosarita Romper (similar here and here)

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know I love a good romper!  I read someone say you shouldn't wear a romper past the age of 8 or 12 or something like that, but I disagree and refuse to give them up!  They're easy to slip on and head to the beach.  What could be wrong with that?

Free People Embroidered Swingy Jacket (similar here)
One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt (similar here)
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

This Free People Embroidered Swingy Jacket is probably in my top 5 favourite purchases of all time!  It came in 3 other colours and I wish I purchased at least one more colour.  I found several for sale on Poshmark here!

Show Me Your Mumu bonfire sweater (similar here and here)
Brixton hat (similar here)

I think this was my first Show Me Your Mumu piece and I instantly fell in love with the brand.  I couldn't get enough of palm trees, clearly.

Spell & The Gypsy Kombi Folk Dress
(similar here in white eyelet, similar sleeveless style here, this Spell x Revolve dress is 50% off!)
Brixton hat (similar here)

Another beautiful Spell piece.  I love the colour, print and flowy sleeves.  I wore it again with a black hat, which shows the beautiful back.  It's hard to find anything like it, but I did my best to tag items that were as similar as possible.

Free People midi dress (similar here and here)
Free People denim jacket (similar here and here)
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

I love an off-the-shoulder dress.  Floral dress + denim jacket is a combo I will always love.

Lovers + Friends Malia Romper (polka dot version on sale here and love this floral one)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

I love the drop shoulder on this Lovers + Friends romper.  It's a nice change from the off-the-shoulder style.

Free People Nora Jumpsuit (similar one on sale by Line & Dot here, love this one by Bobi, this check-print one by dRA and how pretty is this floral-print one by Farm Rio?)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

As much as I love a romper, I love a jumpsuit!  Most are hard for me to wear because I'm so petite, but thankfully you can find a lot of cropped versions out there.  I love anything colourful so I immediately fell in love with this Free People jumpsuit.

Jen's Pirate Booty Casanova Top (love this top)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

I think this top was my first Jen's Pirate Booty piece.  They quickly became one of my favourite brands.  This top is the perfect beach top.  It's easy, breezy and so comfortable to wear.

Spell & The Gypsy Folklore Blouse  (love this off-the-shoulder top by Jen's Pirate Booty, similar top by Free People here and here, love this one by House of Harlow x Revolve)

I love an off-the-shoulder top.  This was a unique Spell piece that felt different from their other pieces.  I love the embroidery.

Spell & The Gypsy Folk Town Boho Dress (similar here, here, here and love this tunic dress)
Brixton hat (similar here

This Spell dress is probably my favourite piece I have ever owned.  It was my first Spell piece and I instantly fell in love with the brand.  Shortly after I had purchased this dress, I purchased the Spell Folk Town blouse, above.  I'm pretty sure I had never heard of Spell, I just came across the pieces while browsing on Revolve.  Again, I'm putting it out into the universe that Spell comes out with Folk Town line again!

For Love & Lemons sweater (similar here and here by Free People, love this one by ZARA and this one by Sanctuary)
One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt (similar here
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Schutz gladiator sandals (similar by Free People here in brown and shorter version here, shorter lace up style by Madewell here and lace up wedges here)

I am always drawn to a black and white striped sweater.  I love the balloon sleeves on this For Love & Lemons one.  I never understood sweaters paired with shorts or skirts until I moved to the South ha.

...

I really miss living in Myrtle Beach, but mostly I miss going to the beach.  The warmth of the sun and sand, smell of the ocean, feel of the breeze in your hair and the odd dolphin sighting.  It's such a calming place for me.  We had a beach vacation planned for spring break but, of course, plans changed with everything that's going on.  I can't wait to get back to a beach soon.  I know a lot of beaches are reopening in the South, but we're still not ready to hit the beach just yet so, instead, I decided to take a look back at my favourite beach pics and favourite pieces I've worn to the beach over the years!

(Another thing I miss - my Prada baroque sunglasses, featured in all the photos above.  I sadly lost them.  They were my absolute favourite sunglasses!  I wear a prescription and have a hard time finding sunglasses.  I purchased these Free People Zoe Angular Sunglasses and now own 3 colours, although not in prescription, so they're mainly for the beach and/or sitting in our backyard.  I have yet to find a pair I love as much as I loved these sunglasses!)

Since we're looking back, most items are not available for purchase anymore, but I've linked similar items above!

Happy shopping!

diamonds

Hope everyone is doing as well as they can be during this time!  Further to this post, I also rented this pretty Ulla Johnson top from Rent the Runway.  We shot this outfit over a week ago and it's the last outfit we were able to shoot.  They have closed the parks, including the parking lot we used to take pictures, so we found a building to shoot this outfit in front of.  We've been socially distancing since Day 1, but we're now ordered to stay home, which is completely understandable, so I will be taking a break from posting outfits.  With the Rent the Runway plan, I was able to swap out my 4 items for 4 other items, but with everything going on I chose not to.  I thought about shooting outfits in my backyard, but I wasn't sure if it was appropriate to use up UPS' time delivering clothes.  I have since read reports that people should continue to online shop so I guess it's what anyone feels they want/can do during this time, but being mindful of course.  I have found blogging helpful in keeping my mind off things and, with spring break coming up next week, I will continue to blog about the items I'm coveting.  So look out for more posts next week!

I was very excited to rent something from Ulla Johnson since I've always oohed and aahed over their clothes (the clothes are on the expensive side).  It did not disappoint.  It's sadly sold out in the colour I'm wearing on the Ulla Johnson site and at Nordstrom (I've linked two other colours above), but it's still available to rent at Rent the Runway here.  (Free People carries a similar top for under $100 called the Willow Printed Blouse!)  The cotton poplin makes this top very comfortable to wear in the heat we've been having.  I love the print and colour.  I love the poufy sleeves and the little ruffles on them.  Ulla Johnson also carries a long-sleeved blouse in the same print here.  They also have a dress, which is SO pretty, called the Nora Dress.

THANK YOU to everyone on the front lines during this scary time!!

Stay safe, everyone!

floral print mini dress / rental

Happy April!  It's a new month and I have hope that we will get through this soon.  With everything going on, I can't imagine too many people are shopping right now.  I happened to have rented the clothes I will be blogging about in the near future from Rent the Runway days before the close of schools, etc.  Of course I'm bummed I can't wear the beautiful clothes out and about, but there are worst things happening right now and I'm doing my part and practicing social distancing, while also using up our free time to blog.  Plus, taking pictures for me is one thing keeping my 10 yo son busy.  I've been very impressed with his photography skills!  This was my first time renting from Rent the Runway so I'm hesitant to recommend it since I'm not too familiar with it, but I know it's one (if not the first) clothing rental company.  You can rent the dress here.  Otherwise, if you do want to purchase it, I've linked a bunch of sites, above.

What I can recommend is this Cleobella dress.  It is SO pretty!  I love the colours.  It's light and breezy material is perfect for the heat we've been having.  I envision dressing this mini dress up with some sandals and enjoying a night out, eating at our favourite restaurant.  I'm eyeing these Schutz sandals at Revolve.

Happy (online) shopping/renting!

pink icing

Tularosa Shorts

Wow, it's been over a week since we took these pictures.  Time has been flying by now that I'm homeschooling my kids.  I've been enjoying it though.  We know a lot of people are affected by this virus and I just feel lucky we're safe at home.

Onto brighter things, like this gorgeous LoveShackFancy sweater.  I mean, this sweater has my name written all over it.  It's pink, has a heart print and has balloon sleeves!  It's perfection.  It has warmed up here a lot so I paired this very warm sweater with a pair of white, lace Tularosa shorts.  My 10 yo son has been taking my pictures, but my 7 yo daughter wanted to get in on the action.  She really got into it and even got down on the ground, ha!

This gorgeous sweater also comes in another colour ('Prune'), which is on sale!

Stay safe and happy (online) shopping!

mustard springs

Last week we had gorgeous weather and it was bittersweet of course with everything that's going on.  We've been practicing social distancing since school was cancelled, but after days spent indoors, we decided to head to the park parking lot so that our kids could ride their bikes and get some fresh air.  I wore this cute Flynn Skye floral romper.  I love rompers and even though I probably am too old to wear a romper, I will never stop ha.  They're just so easy to slip on and head out the door.  I love that you can wear this romper with sleeves or off-the-shoulder.

Thank you to my 10 yo son who took these pictures.  It seems strange to take pictures/blog these days but taking pictures has been keeping my son occupied (more posts to come) and getting dressed has been keeping me sane.  Plus, of course, I ordered a lot of clothes days before the close of school, etc.

Stay safe,

flutter sleeve

We had such beautiful weather recently so we took full advantage and headed to the park (where most of my 'photoshoots' take place).  I wore this Spell flutter sleeve playdress.  I love the colour and print of this dress, but was really drawn to the flutter sleeves.  This dress is 'part 70's glamour, part bohemian dream and the perfect dress for sun-drenched days and balmy nights'.  I'm a sucker for anything 'boho', as you could probably tell if you've been reading my blog.  And I love 70's fashion.  (I will always love a flare jean and a peasant blouse.)  This dress was a no-brainer for me.

Speaking of peasant blouses, Spell is having a 4-day sale on sale items (an extra 20% off, using code SOS20!) and I scored this beautiful Spell blouse.

spring floral dress

Every spring I purchase at least one floral dress.  Free People is usually my go-to.  You can just throw on one of their dresses and feel (and look) put together.  This Petit Fours Mini Dress, which also comes in ivory, is perfect for spring because it has long sleeves but it's lightweight.  I paired this beautiful floral dress with Dolce Vita booties (that are now almost 50% off!) and my go-to Lack of Color hat.  This dress ties at the back and has an opening, which is that special Free People touch.  You could even wear it backwards (as seen on the ASOS site)!

Other floral dresses by Free People that I'm eyeing for spring:

Free People Feeling Groovy Midi Dress
Free People Iris Floral Long Sleeve Midi Dress

Free People Free Swinging Tunic Dress

fuzzy pink cardigan

Spring is in the air!  Well, it comes and goes.  But cardigans are here to stay and they're everywhere!  They're the perfect piece for transitioning into spring with and especially perfect for this all-over-the-place weather we've been having here in South Carolina.  I'm loving the feminine and intricate details of the cardigans I've been seeing.  I'm obsessed with the heart motif on this LoveShackFancy cardigan and love all the pretty colours of this Free People Dreaming Again Cardi.  This fuzzy cardigan from Urban Outfitters, which comes in 4 colours, looks SO cozy.  The yellow one looks so pretty!  I love the ruffles and crocheted flowers on this ZARA cardigan and the balloon sleeves on this ZARA cardigan.

I immediately fell in love with the For Love & Lemons Chateau Short Sleeve Cardigan I'm wearing as soon as I saw it.  Fuzzy?  Pink?  Puff sleeve?  Sold!  I love how bright the pink is, which is my favourite shade of pink.  For Love and Lemons has become a favourite of mine for knits and I'm especially loving their cardigans.  I love the hand-embroidered pink flowers on this cropped cardigan, as well as the oversized version.  I love the heart-shaped enamel eyelets on this peach cropped cardigan (they even have matching adorable knit shorts!).  The cardi I'm wearing has a matching cami (sold separately).  I love a sweater set, which is also a big trend for spring.  I'm obsessing over this teal floral crop cardigan and tank top by 4SI3NNA.  I'm also loving this cardigan and shorts combo and this cropped knit cardigan and knit top combo from ZARA.

Happy shopping!
