ruffled tee

Free People Zoe Angular Sunglasses

As a stay-at-home mom, I'm always on the hunt for comfortable but cute clothes.  I've been eyeing this Free People Le Femme Tee for awhile and had I known how comfortable it is, I would've purchased it much sooner!  It's SO soft and feels as comfy as any tee I have.  But it has ruffles!  I also love the pretty pleating and lace details.  I paired it with my favourite, as-comfortable-as-denim-can-get, AGOLDE loose fit cutoff shorts.  This Victorian-inspired tee also comes in two other colours (linked above).  It also comes in ivory here, which is also super pretty and would obviously pair with anything and everything.  A comfy tee that's this pretty, it's hard to choose just one!

Happy shopping!

bella blue

LoveShackFancy Canna Blouse (on sale here, for rent here, budget-friendlier one here, here and here)
Tularosa shorts (old, similar here and here)
LoveShackFancy is coming to Target!!  I'm SO excited!  You can check out the collection here, but it officially drops June 6!  The price point is crazy good (compared to their regular price point) so it'll be hard to pick just one!  Unfortunately, the Target line appears to only be dresses, which is kind of a bummer because I love their skirts and blouses.  I was able to rent this beautiful LoveShackFancy Victorian inspired blouse from Nuuly.  I love the subtle ditsy floral print and, of course, the ruffles and balloon sleeves.  It's so light and airy and perfect for the heat we've been having.  I paired the blouse with white shorts and a pair of jute wedge sandals to keep everything light and summery!

Happy shopping/renting and good luck on June 6!

take me to the beach (a look back)

Spell & The Gypsy Folk Town Blouse (similar here, love this one by Cleobella,
eyeing this peasant blouse from Anthropologie, which comes in 11 colours!)
Brixton hat (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

I love this Spell blouse.  One of my favourite pieces I've owned for sure.  I love the colour and print.  I bought a couple of pieces from the Folk Town line and I really hope Spell brings the print back in the near future!  I'd love this colour in a boho midi dress.  Just putting it out into the universe!

Free People lace top (similar here)
J Brand Maria High Rise Skinny Jeans in Blanc
Brixton hat (similar here)

I love an all-white outfit, any time of the year.  We loved going to the beach in the evening, after grabbing a bite to eat down the road.  I mean, look at that sky.

Show Me Your Mumu Rosarita Romper (similar here and here)

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know I love a good romper!  I read someone say you shouldn't wear a romper past the age of 8 or 12 or something like that, but I disagree and refuse to give them up!  They're easy to slip on and head to the beach.  What could be wrong with that?

Free People Embroidered Swingy Jacket (similar here)
One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt (similar here)
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

This Free People Embroidered Swingy Jacket is probably in my top 5 favourite purchases of all time!  It came in 3 other colours and I wish I purchased at least one more colour.  I found several for sale on Poshmark here!

Show Me Your Mumu bonfire sweater (similar here and here)
Brixton hat (similar here)

I think this was my first Show Me Your Mumu piece and I instantly fell in love with the brand.  I couldn't get enough of palm trees, clearly.

Spell & The Gypsy Kombi Folk Dress
(similar here in white eyelet, similar sleeveless style here, this Spell x Revolve dress is 50% off!)
Brixton hat (similar here)

Another beautiful Spell piece.  I love the colour, print and flowy sleeves.  I wore it again with a black hat, which shows the beautiful back.  It's hard to find anything like it, but I did my best to tag items that were as similar as possible.

Free People midi dress (similar here and here)
Free People denim jacket (similar here and here)
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

I love an off-the-shoulder dress.  Floral dress + denim jacket is a combo I will always love.

Lovers + Friends Malia Romper (polka dot version on sale here and love this floral one)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

I love the drop shoulder on this Lovers + Friends romper.  It's a nice change from the off-the-shoulder style.

Free People Nora Jumpsuit (similar one on sale by Line & Dot here, love this one by Bobi, this check-print one by dRA and how pretty is this floral-print one by Farm Rio?)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

As much as I love a romper, I love a jumpsuit!  Most are hard for me to wear because I'm so petite, but thankfully you can find a lot of cropped versions out there.  I love anything colourful so I immediately fell in love with this Free People jumpsuit.

Jen's Pirate Booty Casanova Top (love this top)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

I think this top was my first Jen's Pirate Booty piece.  They quickly became one of my favourite brands.  This top is the perfect beach top.  It's easy, breezy and so comfortable to wear.

Spell & The Gypsy Folklore Blouse  (love this off-the-shoulder top by Jen's Pirate Booty, similar top by Free People here and here, love this one by House of Harlow x Revolve)

I love an off-the-shoulder top.  This was a unique Spell piece that felt different from their other pieces.  I love the embroidery.

Spell & The Gypsy Folk Town Boho Dress (similar here, here, here and love this tunic dress)
Brixton hat (similar here

This Spell dress is probably my favourite piece I have ever owned.  It was my first Spell piece and I instantly fell in love with the brand.  Shortly after I had purchased this dress, I purchased the Spell Folk Town blouse, above.  I'm pretty sure I had never heard of Spell, I just came across the pieces while browsing on Revolve.  Again, I'm putting it out into the universe that Spell comes out with Folk Town line again!

For Love & Lemons sweater (similar here and here by Free People, love this one by ZARA and this one by Sanctuary)
One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt (similar here
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Schutz gladiator sandals (similar by Free People here in brown and shorter version here, shorter lace up style by Madewell here and lace up wedges here)

I am always drawn to a black and white striped sweater.  I love the balloon sleeves on this For Love & Lemons one.  I never understood sweaters paired with shorts or skirts until I moved to the South ha.

...

I really miss living in Myrtle Beach, but mostly I miss going to the beach.  The warmth of the sun and sand, smell of the ocean, feel of the breeze in your hair and the odd dolphin sighting.  It's such a calming place for me.  We had a beach vacation planned for spring break but, of course, plans changed with everything that's going on.  I can't wait to get back to a beach soon.  I know a lot of beaches are reopening in the South, but we're still not ready to hit the beach just yet so, instead, I decided to take a look back at my favourite beach pics and favourite pieces I've worn to the beach over the years!

(Another thing I miss - my Prada baroque sunglasses, featured in all the photos above.  I sadly lost them.  They were my absolute favourite sunglasses!  I wear a prescription and have a hard time finding sunglasses.  I purchased these Free People Zoe Angular Sunglasses and now own 3 colours, although not in prescription, so they're mainly for the beach and/or sitting in our backyard.  I have yet to find a pair I love as much as I loved these sunglasses!)

Since we're looking back, most items are not available for purchase anymore, but I've linked similar items above!

Happy shopping!

Even though we don't get fall weather usually until the end of October, fall is my favourite season to shop for so I love browsing my favourite sites (Revolve, Shopbop, Free People, Anthropologie, Nordstrom) and saving my favourite pieces in my 'shopping cart'.   Florals, animal prints, jewel tones, plaid and purple are some of the trends this season.  On their own, they're pretty much classic prints and colours for fall (except maybe purple), but I'm loving how they're being mixed together: florals are being mixed with animal print (see ASTR the Label Surplice Smocked Top and RIXO Kelly Skirt, above) and animal prints are being mixed with plaid AND florals (see Free People Fields of Plaid Buttondown, above).  My favourite piece I've come across so far is the NSF plaid skirt mixed with denim.  I'm a sucker for anything plaid.  Mixed with denim?  Sold.  Trend or not, I think everyone should own something plaid.  Even a simple pair of plaid pants like the ones above from ZARA - it beats wearing plain black to work every day.

I've worn plaid quite a bit on the blog: a perfect plaid shirt by Free People as seen on the blog here, mixed with more plaid here, mixed with stripes here and mixed with a floral blouse (back in 2013!) here.  I love mixing prints.  It's fun to experiment.  I'm sure I've said this on the blog before, but the easiest way to mix prints is to stick within the same colour family.  Or if you're not sure about mixing prints, try wearing a leopard print shoe (or boot) with a floral top and keep your bottoms neutral, or pair a plaid headband with a floral print skirt.  Or if you're still not sure, let the pros do it for you and purchase a piece that does the mixing for you!
