one piece

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  It's been less humid here, which has been really, really nice!  It rained pretty much all of yesterday, but on Saturday we spent a lot of time outside.  We found a huge, empty parking lot where the kids could ride their bikes.  I wore this Free People Marina One Piece.  I mentioned before that I'm looking for comfy pieces that I can wear around the house in case I get caught in the background of my daughter's zoom conferences.  So when I came across this one piece on the Free People site, I had to order it.  The problem now is that I'll want to wear it every day, ha!

It was pretty windy out so unfortunately it was hard to capture this one piece without looking like a balloon.  But I wanted to share it with you because it's selling out quickly, especially the black one, which I also ordered because I love it so much.  (I would keep an eye out for returns!)  I paired the one piece with my Valentino Rockstud Platform Sandals and once it cools down even more, I'll be pairing it with a pair of booties and a cardigan.  I'll be sharing that outfit on the blog in the weeks to come!

This Free People one piece also looks super comfy and comes in 4 colours!

Happy shopping!

jumpsuit joy 2

I love jumpsuits so much.  It's probably one of the main reasons why I wish I was taller.  They're always so long and I'm too lazy to get things hemmed.  Also, it hurts to spend so much money on a piece of clothing only to have to cut off a huge chunk of it's beautiful material.  It feels wrong.  So when I come across one that I don't have to hem (even better when I can wear flat shoes with it), I get really happy.  (One of my favourite jumpsuits of all time is this colourful, striped one by Free People.)  As soon as I put this Faithfull the Brand Jumpsuit on, I instantly fell in love with it.  Having put on a few pounds during this pandemic, I'm happy it has a belt to cinch the waist in.  This jumpsuit is a little too long on me to wear with flat sandals so I paired it with wedge sandals and my go-to Lack of Color hat.

Other jumpsuits I'm coveting (but most likely sadly too short for):

Faithfull the Brand Anika Jumpsuit
Isabel Marant Etoile Timea Jumpsuit (this one would be great for fall, paired with a denim jacket!)
Hemant and Nandita Fluer Jumpsuit (SO gorgeous!)
MIKOH Sayama Jumpsuit (comfy enough to lounge around the house in)
Free People Marina One Piece (under $100!)
Free People Hazel Mixed Print Jumpsuit
Anthropologie Bristol Wide-Leg Jumpsuit (under $100!)
Pam & Gela Tie Back Jumpsuit (love the ruffles and open back!)
ASOS DESIGN Square Neck Linen Jumpsuit (under $60! Love the colour and tie back!)

Happy (jumpsuit) shopping!

take me to the beach (a look back)

Spell & The Gypsy Folk Town Blouse (similar here, love this one by Cleobella,
eyeing this peasant blouse from Anthropologie, which comes in 11 colours!)
Brixton hat (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

I love this Spell blouse.  One of my favourite pieces I've owned for sure.  I love the colour and print.  I bought a couple of pieces from the Folk Town line and I really hope Spell brings the print back in the near future!  I'd love this colour in a boho midi dress.  Just putting it out into the universe!

Free People lace top (similar here)
J Brand Maria High Rise Skinny Jeans in Blanc
Brixton hat (similar here)

I love an all-white outfit, any time of the year.  We loved going to the beach in the evening, after grabbing a bite to eat down the road.  I mean, look at that sky.

Show Me Your Mumu Rosarita Romper (similar here and here)

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know I love a good romper!  I read someone say you shouldn't wear a romper past the age of 8 or 12 or something like that, but I disagree and refuse to give them up!  They're easy to slip on and head to the beach.  What could be wrong with that?

Free People Embroidered Swingy Jacket (similar here)
One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt (similar here)
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

This Free People Embroidered Swingy Jacket is probably in my top 5 favourite purchases of all time!  It came in 3 other colours and I wish I purchased at least one more colour.  I found several for sale on Poshmark here!

Show Me Your Mumu bonfire sweater (similar here and here)
Brixton hat (similar here)

I think this was my first Show Me Your Mumu piece and I instantly fell in love with the brand.  I couldn't get enough of palm trees, clearly.

Spell & The Gypsy Kombi Folk Dress
(similar here in white eyelet, similar sleeveless style here, this Spell x Revolve dress is 50% off!)
Brixton hat (similar here)

Another beautiful Spell piece.  I love the colour, print and flowy sleeves.  I wore it again with a black hat, which shows the beautiful back.  It's hard to find anything like it, but I did my best to tag items that were as similar as possible.

Free People midi dress (similar here and here)
Free People denim jacket (similar here and here)
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

I love an off-the-shoulder dress.  Floral dress + denim jacket is a combo I will always love.

Lovers + Friends Malia Romper (polka dot version on sale here and love this floral one)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

I love the drop shoulder on this Lovers + Friends romper.  It's a nice change from the off-the-shoulder style.

Free People Nora Jumpsuit (similar one on sale by Line & Dot here, love this one by Bobi, this check-print one by dRA and how pretty is this floral-print one by Farm Rio?)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

As much as I love a romper, I love a jumpsuit!  Most are hard for me to wear because I'm so petite, but thankfully you can find a lot of cropped versions out there.  I love anything colourful so I immediately fell in love with this Free People jumpsuit.

Jen's Pirate Booty Casanova Top (love this top)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

I think this top was my first Jen's Pirate Booty piece.  They quickly became one of my favourite brands.  This top is the perfect beach top.  It's easy, breezy and so comfortable to wear.

Spell & The Gypsy Folklore Blouse  (love this off-the-shoulder top by Jen's Pirate Booty, similar top by Free People here and here, love this one by House of Harlow x Revolve)

I love an off-the-shoulder top.  This was a unique Spell piece that felt different from their other pieces.  I love the embroidery.

Spell & The Gypsy Folk Town Boho Dress (similar here, here, here and love this tunic dress)
Brixton hat (similar here

This Spell dress is probably my favourite piece I have ever owned.  It was my first Spell piece and I instantly fell in love with the brand.  Shortly after I had purchased this dress, I purchased the Spell Folk Town blouse, above.  I'm pretty sure I had never heard of Spell, I just came across the pieces while browsing on Revolve.  Again, I'm putting it out into the universe that Spell comes out with Folk Town line again!

For Love & Lemons sweater (similar here and here by Free People, love this one by ZARA and this one by Sanctuary)
One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt (similar here
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Schutz gladiator sandals (similar by Free People here in brown and shorter version here, shorter lace up style by Madewell here and lace up wedges here)

I am always drawn to a black and white striped sweater.  I love the balloon sleeves on this For Love & Lemons one.  I never understood sweaters paired with shorts or skirts until I moved to the South ha.

...

I really miss living in Myrtle Beach, but mostly I miss going to the beach.  The warmth of the sun and sand, smell of the ocean, feel of the breeze in your hair and the odd dolphin sighting.  It's such a calming place for me.  We had a beach vacation planned for spring break but, of course, plans changed with everything that's going on.  I can't wait to get back to a beach soon.  I know a lot of beaches are reopening in the South, but we're still not ready to hit the beach just yet so, instead, I decided to take a look back at my favourite beach pics and favourite pieces I've worn to the beach over the years!

(Another thing I miss - my Prada baroque sunglasses, featured in all the photos above.  I sadly lost them.  They were my absolute favourite sunglasses!  I wear a prescription and have a hard time finding sunglasses.  I purchased these Free People Zoe Angular Sunglasses and now own 3 colours, although not in prescription, so they're mainly for the beach and/or sitting in our backyard.  I have yet to find a pair I love as much as I loved these sunglasses!)

Since we're looking back, most items are not available for purchase anymore, but I've linked similar items above!

things I'm coveting: warm tones

Free People Willow Printed Blouse
Jen's Pirate Booty Attalea Top
Free People I'm The One Maxi Dress
Sam Edelman Lillie Sandals
Ulla Johnson Iris Top

Madewell Smock-Waist Tiered Midi Skirt
Spell & The Gypsy Daisy Chain Romper
Free People Banda Blouse

Things I'm coveting: warm tones and warm sunshine.  I'm dreaming of being on a beach in Florida, or back in Myrtle Beach.  I can't wait to get back to the beach.  There is not much I find more soothing than listening to the crashing waves and feeling the sun on my face (covered with SPF, of course).  When I'm looking for something to wear to the beach, it needs to be comfortable and something I can just throw on, but I also want to feel put together grabbing a bite to eat afterward.  I usually reach for an easy, breezy blouse, maxi dress or romper.

The Free People Willow Printed Blouse, above, which comes in two other colours, is 100% cotton so it would be perfect for a day at the beach.  The print is so pretty.  The Free People I'm The One Maxi Dress looks SO comfy!  It also comes in two other colours.  I love a good romper and this Spell & The Gypsy Daisy Chain Romper is so charming.  I love the ruffles.

Jen's Pirate Booty is made for the beach.  I wear one of their tops and speak about my love for Jen's Pirate Booty on the blog here, which also includes pictures from one of their lookbooks (pictures are NSFW).  I love the Attalea Top, above.  It looks so comfortable and the colour reminds me of warm sunshine.

Happy coveting!

jumpsuit joy

Happy Saturday!  This Free People Nora Jumpsuit brings me so much joy.  I mean, it's colourful and dramatic with the extremely wide legs, which makes it so fun to wear.  It's perfect for this heat in South Carolina.  I want to wear this jumpsuit every day, it's so comfortable.  You just slip it on and go.  I paired this colourful jumpsuit with a pair of wedge sandals, but it also looks great with a pair of white sneakers.

Free People has a wide variety of jumpsuits.  You can shop them here!

Nordstrom half-yearly sale pt II

#Nordstrom half-yearly sale pt II

Part II of my picks from the Nordstrom's 'Half-Yearly Sale'.  (Part I is here.)  This sale is the perfect time to stock up on those summer sandals.  I'm eyeing these Marc Fisher LTD Greg Platform Wedge Sandals (center), mainly because they look really comfortable and give you some height.  How cute are these Jimmy Choo Dolphin Espadrille Flats?  I love anything denim.  Speaking of denim, I am obsessing over this 7 For All Mankind Denim Culotte Jumpsuit (bottom, left).  Off-the-shoulder is still a big trend this spring/summer.  I love this Rebecca Minkoff Dev Off the Shoulder Minidress (bottom, right).  It would be great for shopping/brunch or the beach. There are so many great pieces on sale, I will be posting a Part III later this evening!
