embroidered denim top

I have a slight obsession with embroidery.  Okay, it's a major obsession.  One of my all-time favourite embroidered pieces in my closet is this Free People embroidered jacket and, most recently, this Free People patchwork mini dress.  Embroidered denim?  That's a combo that's hard for me to resist.  One of my favourite embroidered denim pieces is this pair of ZARA embroidered jeans.  The embroidery just adds that special touch to make a simple pair of jeans (or denim shirt in this case) unique.

This Free People Marrakesh Embroidered Denim Top is definitely a unique piece.  The embroidery on the front is so pretty, but I especially love the back of this top!  I chose to go denim on denim and pair this top with my go-to AGOLDE cutoffs, but it would really pop against a pair of white jeans.  It would also look great paired with black jeans and some boots in the fall!

friday find: anthropologie collab with plenty by tracy reese

Happy Friday!  Anthropologie has collaborated with Plenty by Tracy Reese for an exclusive collection.  I ordered the embroidered babydoll blouse, above, because, well, it's pink and embroidered.  I'm also loving this Embroidered Plaid Blouse and this striped Puff-Sleeved Top, but all 20 pieces are stunningly beautiful!!

the white dress

I'm sure I've mentioned many times on the blog that I love wearing white all year round (J.Lo wearing a white winter coat in Maid in Manhattan was the game changer for me - almost 20 years ago!), but there's just something about putting on that white dress for the first time of the spring/summer season.  I'm sure I've also mentioned my love of embroidery many times on the blog and I just recently shared my love of patchwork here.  This Free People Louisa Patchwork Mini Dress checks off all of the boxes.  The embroidery on this dress is what first drew me in.  It's not until I received the dress that I really noticed the delicate embroidery on the sleeves and shoulders.  It's so pretty!  The patchwork is subtle, but adds some texture to this ivory dress.  It's a great dress to just throw on and go (I've actually done this when I realized I had 10 minutes left to pick up materials from my kids' school and I was still in my pjs).  It's also the perfect dress for grabbing a bite to eat or running errands.  It's unfussy, but you look put together.  It'll also be perfect for those breezy beach days.  The gauzy material is so light and airy!

Speaking of gauze, no one does gauze better than Jen's Pirate Booty.  I'm loving this Jen's Pirate Booty Hidden Valley Tunic.  No matter what style you are looking for, there are so many beautiful white dresses to choose from.  This Free People Natural Element Midi Dress and this ZARA Topstitched Midi Dress are effortless.  I love the bow details on this Show Me Your Mumu Sunshine Dress.  I love the crochet details on this Free People Ari Mini Dress.  I love the exposed back and eyelet details on this Free People Mockingbird Maxi DressThis Cleobella Ferris Mini Dress is so sweet (I'm a sucker for eyelet!).  I'm coveting this cut-out Tularosa Colleen Mini Dress and this embroidered eyelet For Love & Lemons Serena Mini Dress (another eyelet stunner!).

Speaking of embroidery, last month, I purchased this ZARA Embroidered Midi Dress (there are only a couple of sizes left!).  I love the contrasting embroidery detail on this ZARA Embroidered Midi Dress and the blue florals on this ZARA Openwork Embroidered Floral DressThis Free People Dewdrop Maxi Dress is stunning.  I love the pop of color on this Sundress Poly Dress!

friday find: Free People boots

Happy Friday!  Summer shoes can be really pretty, but nothing beats a great boot when it comes to shoes IMO.  I've been coveting a few pairs at Free People.  At the top of my list are these beautiful western-inspired boots.  They come in 3 colours, but I'm eyeing the brown ones.  I would pair them with skinny jeans and a chunky knit sweater, or a babydoll dress.

The 'sky' colour of these Wesley Ankle Boots is so pretty!  Ever since I purchased my blue tulle skirt, I've been purchasing a lot of blues.  These boots come in 4 other colours!  I'm also loving them in white.

My favorite colour is pink so, of course, I'm coveting these 'rose quartz' slouch boots!  They come in 2 other colours.  I have a few pink dresses in my closet I would pair them with!  I would also pair them with a pair of skinny jeans and a white knit sweater.

I love an over-the-knee ('OTK') boot.  My all-time favourite OTK boots are the Lowland Boots from Stuart Weitzman, but at $278, these Free People ones are more budget-friendly.  I love the 'natural' ones shown above, but these also come in 2 other colours.

I love anything embroidered so when I saw these, I immediately fell in love!

Happy (boot) shopping!

for love & lemons

For Love & Lemons Savannah Boxy Sweater (for rent, available in black here)

Happy Friday!  We've had a lot of rain the past few days and yesterday evening the sun came out so we headed to the park for some much-needed fresh air.  Because it had cooled down a bit, I wore this beautiful For Love & Lemons sweater.  I thankfully paired it with a pair of AGOLDE shorts because it ended up being really warm.  Also, this sweater is quite cropped so I needed to pair it with something high-waisted and these shorts are more forgiving than the high-waisted Levi's I ordered before everything happened.  (These AGOLDE shorts have been one of the best purchases I have ever made!)

I love For Love & Lemons knits (as I'm sure I've mentioned on the blog before).  A lot of their knits are on sale!  I love this embroidered cardigan.  They're great quality and always have the prettiest details.  This sweater is embroidered with pretty purple flowers and, of course, I love the balloon sleeves.  Unfortunately this sweater is sold out, but I've linked it for renting from Nuuly.  Urban Outfitters carries it in black, which I've also linked above!

Happy shopping/renting!

take me to the beach (a look back)

Spell & The Gypsy Folk Town Blouse (similar here, love this one by Cleobella,
eyeing this peasant blouse from Anthropologie, which comes in 11 colours!)
Brixton hat (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

I love this Spell blouse.  One of my favourite pieces I've owned for sure.  I love the colour and print.  I bought a couple of pieces from the Folk Town line and I really hope Spell brings the print back in the near future!  I'd love this colour in a boho midi dress.  Just putting it out into the universe!

Free People lace top (similar here)
J Brand Maria High Rise Skinny Jeans in Blanc
Brixton hat (similar here)

I love an all-white outfit, any time of the year.  We loved going to the beach in the evening, after grabbing a bite to eat down the road.  I mean, look at that sky.

Show Me Your Mumu Rosarita Romper (similar here and here)

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know I love a good romper!  I read someone say you shouldn't wear a romper past the age of 8 or 12 or something like that, but I disagree and refuse to give them up!  They're easy to slip on and head to the beach.  What could be wrong with that?

Free People Embroidered Swingy Jacket (similar here)
One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt (similar here)
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

This Free People Embroidered Swingy Jacket is probably in my top 5 favourite purchases of all time!  It came in 3 other colours and I wish I purchased at least one more colour.  I found several for sale on Poshmark here!

Show Me Your Mumu bonfire sweater (similar here and here)
Brixton hat (similar here)

I think this was my first Show Me Your Mumu piece and I instantly fell in love with the brand.  I couldn't get enough of palm trees, clearly.

Spell & The Gypsy Kombi Folk Dress
(similar here in white eyelet, similar sleeveless style here, this Spell x Revolve dress is 50% off!)
Brixton hat (similar here)

Another beautiful Spell piece.  I love the colour, print and flowy sleeves.  I wore it again with a black hat, which shows the beautiful back.  It's hard to find anything like it, but I did my best to tag items that were as similar as possible.

Free People midi dress (similar here and here)
Free People denim jacket (similar here and here)
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

I love an off-the-shoulder dress.  Floral dress + denim jacket is a combo I will always love.

Lovers + Friends Malia Romper (polka dot version on sale here and love this floral one)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

I love the drop shoulder on this Lovers + Friends romper.  It's a nice change from the off-the-shoulder style.

Free People Nora Jumpsuit (similar one on sale by Line & Dot here, love this one by Bobi, this check-print one by dRA and how pretty is this floral-print one by Farm Rio?)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

As much as I love a romper, I love a jumpsuit!  Most are hard for me to wear because I'm so petite, but thankfully you can find a lot of cropped versions out there.  I love anything colourful so I immediately fell in love with this Free People jumpsuit.

Jen's Pirate Booty Casanova Top (love this top)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

I think this top was my first Jen's Pirate Booty piece.  They quickly became one of my favourite brands.  This top is the perfect beach top.  It's easy, breezy and so comfortable to wear.

Spell & The Gypsy Folklore Blouse  (love this off-the-shoulder top by Jen's Pirate Booty, similar top by Free People here and here, love this one by House of Harlow x Revolve)

I love an off-the-shoulder top.  This was a unique Spell piece that felt different from their other pieces.  I love the embroidery.

Spell & The Gypsy Folk Town Boho Dress (similar here, here, here and love this tunic dress)
Brixton hat (similar here

This Spell dress is probably my favourite piece I have ever owned.  It was my first Spell piece and I instantly fell in love with the brand.  Shortly after I had purchased this dress, I purchased the Spell Folk Town blouse, above.  I'm pretty sure I had never heard of Spell, I just came across the pieces while browsing on Revolve.  Again, I'm putting it out into the universe that Spell comes out with Folk Town line again!

For Love & Lemons sweater (similar here and here by Free People, love this one by ZARA and this one by Sanctuary)
One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt (similar here
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Schutz gladiator sandals (similar by Free People here in brown and shorter version here, shorter lace up style by Madewell here and lace up wedges here)

I am always drawn to a black and white striped sweater.  I love the balloon sleeves on this For Love & Lemons one.  I never understood sweaters paired with shorts or skirts until I moved to the South ha.

...

I really miss living in Myrtle Beach, but mostly I miss going to the beach.  The warmth of the sun and sand, smell of the ocean, feel of the breeze in your hair and the odd dolphin sighting.  It's such a calming place for me.  We had a beach vacation planned for spring break but, of course, plans changed with everything that's going on.  I can't wait to get back to a beach soon.  I know a lot of beaches are reopening in the South, but we're still not ready to hit the beach just yet so, instead, I decided to take a look back at my favourite beach pics and favourite pieces I've worn to the beach over the years!

(Another thing I miss - my Prada baroque sunglasses, featured in all the photos above.  I sadly lost them.  They were my absolute favourite sunglasses!  I wear a prescription and have a hard time finding sunglasses.  I purchased these Free People Zoe Angular Sunglasses and now own 3 colours, although not in prescription, so they're mainly for the beach and/or sitting in our backyard.  I have yet to find a pair I love as much as I loved these sunglasses!)

Since we're looking back, most items are not available for purchase anymore, but I've linked similar items above!

embroidered blouse & cut offs

Lack of Color Dunes Cap (love this Free People one for 1/2 the price!)

It was SO gorgeous yesterday!!  It's been quite cool here in Greenville, SC, but yesterday the temps went way up.  I bought this pretty smocked Free People top a while ago so it's pretty much sold out everywhere, but I have linked a few other embroidered tops for fall that I love, below.  I paired this beautiful embroidered top with a pair of AGOLDE cut off shorts and a Lack of Color hat.

friday find: checked top

Happy Friday!  There is so much goodness out there for fall, I want everything.  I am currently obsessing over this ZARA checked top.  The embroidery is so beautiful!  Sadly, it's still hot in the South and this top would be too warm to wear here.  Well, I could wear it in the morning because we're starting to have cool mornings, but then I'd have to take it off for the afternoon.  It's a whole thing.  But I can't wait to stock up on all things checked.  ZARA always has great checked pieces.  I also love this embroidered tunic, this oversized checked dress (that probably only a few could pull off, but I'm obsessed), this embroidered checked shirt (the back is stunning!!) and this checked dress with floral embroidery.

friday find: the oversized (embroidered) jean jacket

Happy Friday and happy first day of September!  Today's find is this Madewell oversized jean jacket with beautiful embroidery to celebrate the countdown to fall (my favourite season for fashion).  Fall is when you start pulling out those jackets and it's safe to say that everyone loves a jean jacket.  This Madewell one is definitely not your standard denim jacket.  The embroidery on this jacket is stunning and takes a denim-on-denim look to a whole new level.  Don't need a new denim jacket?  You can get the same beautiful embroidery on a pair of high-rise slim boyfriend jeans or a denim shirt.

I've been fighting an ear infection and allergies (puffy eye and cheek), but I'm hoping to be back next week with a new outfit post.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

kissed by the sun set

{Free People Kissed by the Sun Set (also comes in blush/red);

I love a set because you essentially get 3 outfits for the price of 1.  I first wore the pieces of this Free People Kissed by the Sun Set together with a pair of Adidas slides and my Lack of Color Boater Hat.  Next I'll be pairing this beautiful embroidered top with denim cutoffs.  I love the wide sleeves, which seems to be the theme of my tops lately.  I'll be wearing these flowy shorts on a regular basis with a simple tee.  You can just pull them on and go.  So there you have it, 3 easy outfits for under $150 (along with pieces you already own).  Of course, you can pair the top and shorts with many other pieces in your closet and get even more out of this Free People set.  You can also dress these pieces up a bit by pairing the top with white skinny jeans and lace-up sandals and pairing the shorts with a black top (or bodysuit) and black wedge sandals.
