springing for straw

springing for straw

Straw bags are everywhere this spring and there are so many to choose from.  They're not your average beach tote, although there are many fun options for that too.  If you're looking for a small bag for every day, this Clare V. Petite Alice Maison Tote (second from right, $175) would go with any outfit and take you from work to dinner.  I love that it comes with detachable shoulder straps.  I think it would look great against an all white outfit!  I also love this ZARA Crossbody Bag with Pompoms (not shown, $35.90) and this ZARA Raffia Bucket Bag (not shown, $59.90).  If you are looking for a large tote for the beach, this Rebecca Minkoff Beach Hair Tote is roomy and fun.  And for something in between, I love the bright colours and fringe on this JADEtribe Pom-Pom Fringe Basket (right, center, $143).  (It also comes in black.)  I also love this simple Free People Straw Basket (center, $68) and the idea of tying a bandana around the handle.  You can buy a few bandanas (or scarves) to switch things up and the bag will feel different every time!

embroidered daisies

Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here);
Prada Sunglasses (also here)}

Happy Friday!  A late blog post this week.  Things have been hectic here, with buying a new house and getting ready for our move to Greenville, SC, in less than 3 weeks!  So for the most part I've been living in pjs or tights and a t-shirt.  I finally ventured out and wore this ZARA Top with Embroidered Daisies.  I normally steer clear of black, but there are exceptions to the rule: frills and embroidery are a couple of them.  The back bow fastening sealed the deal (as well as the under $40 price tag).  I paired this embroidered top with my now favourite AGOLDE cutoffs (so comfy!) and Adidas slides.  I love pairing stripes and floral together and these slides make it effortless.  I wear them with floral dresses, shorts, etc.

Speaking of embroidery (and ZARA), I am obsessing over this ZARA Limited Edition Embroidered Parka so much that I almost wish it was still cold here (almost).  And speaking of embroidered jackets, I also love this 7 For All Mankind Trucker Jacket.

Below are some other embroidered pieces I've been eyeing (click on the items to shop!).  (I own the Free People embroidered jacket (center) in white (see post here) and love it!  It also comes in red.)

gingham style

gingham style

Gingham is one of my favourites.  When I see anything gingham, I have a hard time not buying it immediately.  This WHIT Ruffled Gingham Open-Shoulder Top from Anthropologie (second from the left) is at the top of my list.  It's yellow (one of my favourite colours for summer), has ruffles and an open shoulder!  I'm also eyeing this Petersyn Arabella Top (similar, left, center).  Ruffles?  Check.  Off the shoulder?  Check.  If you're looking for something completely off the shoulder, this Madewell Smocked Gingham Off the Shoulder Top (bottom) is currently on sale for under $50 at Nordstrom!  A pink gingham skirt?  Yes, please!  I'm also loving this ZARA Gingham Embroidered Skirt.  I prefer a bright colour, but there are many gingham options in black.  This MSGM Gingham Short Sleeve Blouse is so pretty (right, center).  A touch of gingham goes a long way.  There are many shoe options in gingham.  These Miu Miu Lace-Up Ballet Flats (bottom, right) are super fun.  I'm eyeing these Marques'Almeida Gingham Strap Sandals (they also come in yellow).

pretty pink pleats

Pink is my favourite colour and I love a statement sleeve, which I'm pretty sure I've mentioned on my blog a million times, so it was love at first sight when I saw this Anthropologie Luma Peasant Top.  I'm obsessed with the oversized sleeves.  I scrunched up the sleeves to make them even bigger!  This top is flowy and light, which makes it the perfect top for spring/summer.  It'll be my go-to top for the beach, just throw over a bathing suit and go.  I could have dressed it up a bit with lace-up sandals, but we just headed to Broadway at the Beach for a casual dinner and a stroll so I just slipped on my go-to Adidas slides.  This top would also look great dressed up with white skinny jeans.
