pink summer

Hello!  Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!  Just a quick post today.  I took a much-needed break and now itching to start blogging again.  I purchased some summer pieces recently, which I'm excited to share!  I immediately fell in love with this pretty, pink Free People dress.  I always gravitate toward pink, but there's something about wearing a pink, especially a bright pink, dress in the summer.   Unfortunately, this Free People dress is already sold out, but I linked other pink dresses I'm loving for summer, below!

polka dot dress

Usually for the spring/summer season, I'm drawn to bright colours, but I can't resist a polka dot dress!  Plus, the colour of this Faithfull The Brand mini dress is one that works all year round (bonus!).  I love the babydoll style and puff sleeves.  This linen dress can be worn casually with a pair of flat sandals, or dressed up with heels.  It would also look great in the fall paired with black booties!  You could even wear this dress off-the-shoulder for another look.

ruffled, tiered & off the shoulder

MISA Los Angeles Isella Dress (avail for rent here, other colours here and here and similar here)

I've always been a fan of anything off-the-shoulder (my favourite pieces include this Jen's Pirate Booty gauzy top, this Susana Monaco neon pink top, this Faithfull The Brand striped top, this Free People midi dress and this Spell & The Gypsy Collective embroidered top), so I was immediately drawn to this MISA Los Angeles Isella Dress.  It's so pretty!  Plus, it's pink.  But the tiered ruffles make it really playful and fun to wear.  This dress was in stock at Revolve last week, but unfortunately it's currently sold out.  You can click 'notify me' and Revolve will email you if it becomes available!  You could also rent this dress at Rent the Runway, which I've linked above.  This dress is also available in a beautiful graphic floral print and a pink navy floral print and a similar style is available in blue, which I've also linked above!

Below are some other off-the-shoulder, ruffled and/or tiered pieces I'm eyeing for spring:

Free People The Convertible Skirt (you can also wear it as a dress!)

embroidered blouse & cut offs

Lack of Color Dunes Cap (love this Free People one for 1/2 the price!)

It was SO gorgeous yesterday!!  It's been quite cool here in Greenville, SC, but yesterday the temps went way up.  I bought this pretty smocked Free People top a while ago so it's pretty much sold out everywhere, but I have linked a few other embroidered tops for fall that I love, below.  I paired this beautiful embroidered top with a pair of AGOLDE cut off shorts and a Lack of Color hat.

pink gingham

7 For All Mankind Slim Illusion Skinny Jeans (old, similar);
Brixton Dalila Hat (sold out, love this one);

I am obsessing over Petersyn (also here) lately.  I would literally buy every piece, but the pieces are not the most budget-friendly.  (Of course, this top is now on sale!)  As much as I love every piece, this gorgeous top was calling my name: it's pink, off-the-shoulder, gingham and has statement sleeves.  I actually bought this top before we left Myrtle Beach, but it's been too hot to wear it so I've been waiting for cooler weather.  I initially thought of pairing this beautiful pink gingham top with white jeans and gladiator sandals but, since I'm in fall mode, I paired it with dark skinny jeans and booties.

I'm also obsessing over the plaid version for fall!

gauzy goodness

{Jen's Pirate Booty Chiapas Top (special order, 7 colours);
Brixton Dalila Hat (sold out, love this one);

Hope everyone had a great long weekend!  I'm still fighting an ear infection and now I have a cold.  But that would never stop me from going out for ice cream!  The weather was perfect so we headed to the park after so that the kids could play and we could enjoy the summer breeze that we rarely get.  I wore this Jen's Pirate Booty Chiapas Top I purchased at Planet Blue in Boca Raton.  I'm obsessed with Jen's Pirate Booty (raved about the brand last September here - NSFW).  I've also been eyeing this one-shoulder style top.  It's just dreamy fabric.  The details are so pretty.  I paired this beautiful top with a pair of One Teaspoon cutoffs that I also purchased at Planet Blue.  I've collected my share of One Teaspoon Bandits, but I had to have these high-waisted Bonitas.  They are super comfortable!  For those that are in fall fashion mode, this top would of course look great with a pair of jeans and booties.

On our trip to Florida a few weeks back, we stopped in Boca Raton on our way to Miami (specifically Planet Blue in Mizner Park, below).  It's one of the cutest places to shop and I can't wait to go back!  I love Florida (as most do) and I'm devastated and praying for those affected (or will be affected) by the hurricane.

UPDATE: I'm selling this Jen's Pirate Booty top, along with other great items from my closet, and I will be donating 10% of my sales to those affected by the hurricanes.  Shop my items on Poshmark here: https://poshmark.com/closet/marikascloset

off-the-shoulder neon pink

I bought this neon pink Susana Monaco Maia Top months ago from Shopbop (now sold out, but found on other sites, linked above), but with the move and not organizing my closet for weeks I never got around to wearing it.  Of course now it's on sale!  But I'm actually happy about that in a way because I love this top so much that I think I'm going to buy it in red.  This is one of those off-the-shoulder tops that actually stays off the shoulder.  I wore it out for dinner and it never rode up even once.  It's super comfortable too.  I love the cute ties on the sleeves!  It also has a built-in bra, which is a bonus.  But most of all I love it, of course, because it's pink!  This neon pink is not something I see very often (I don't recall the last time neon was trendy, but neon pink is one of my favourite colours so I will scoop it up when I do see it.  I just ordered this tee from Free People!).  I love pairing neon with other neon, especially pink with orange.  I have a pair of orange linen pants that this top would look great with.  Next time!  This time, for a casual dinner on a very hot evening, I paired this top with my favourite AGOLDE Parker Vintage Shorts.  I've been living in them, they're so comfortable.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

friday find

Happy Friday!  Hope everyone is having a great summer so far!  I've taken some (er, a lot) of time off for the transition of our move to Greenville, SC (a city I had only been to twice before we moved!).  We've been having fun exploring the city.  But I spent most of the time unpacking.  It took two weeks before I even started unpacking and organizing my closet!  So let's just say I wore basically the same thing every day.  It's been fun decorating our new house and I'll be sharing some of my finds on the blog shortly!  I probably did not even look at clothes online for a couple of weeks (anytime I was online I was shopping for the house), but I started getting the fashion bug last week.  So we took a trip to Charlotte, which is only an hour and a half away, which I'm so excited about.  There's a Free People (yay!), Nordstrom (I can shop the Anniversary Sale, which starts today, in person!), Madewell, Neiman Marcus, Urban Outfitters, etc.!

Anyway, I've missed blogging and this 'Friday find' (which is something I'm going to continue going forward) was something I had to blog about.  How cool is this ZARA Multi-Position Shirt?  It's a long-sleeved shirt with buttoned cuffs, which turns into a cool sleeveless shirt with spaghetti straps!  It could also be worn as an off-the-shoulder shirt!  A steal for under $50.

Nordstrom half-yearly sale pt III

#Nordstrom half-yearly sale pt III

Part III of my picks from the Nordstrom's 'Half-Yearly Sale'.  (Part I is here and Part II is here.)  I've combed through thousands of items from the sale today!  For those not able to do the same, I hope these edits help you in finding that perfect spring piece (or pieces)!  There are a lot of off-the-shoulder options.  I love the colour of the Rebecca Minkoff Ghiradelle Top (second from left).  I would pair the orange top with the amazing See by Chloe Dakota Platform Sandals (bottom).  (Sadly my size is sold out.)  I've been looking for easy dresses lately because it's been so hot here in the South and this Free People Spring Love Drape Dress (top, right) looks so comfortable.  Sadly, the Ray-Bans above already appear to be sold out, but there is a pair of aviators on sale here or these similar ones by Spektre, which are 40% off.

You can shop all of the items above by clicking below!

Nordstrom half-yearly sale pt II

#Nordstrom half-yearly sale pt II

Part II of my picks from the Nordstrom's 'Half-Yearly Sale'.  (Part I is here.)  This sale is the perfect time to stock up on those summer sandals.  I'm eyeing these Marc Fisher LTD Greg Platform Wedge Sandals (center), mainly because they look really comfortable and give you some height.  How cute are these Jimmy Choo Dolphin Espadrille Flats?  I love anything denim.  Speaking of denim, I am obsessing over this 7 For All Mankind Denim Culotte Jumpsuit (bottom, left).  Off-the-shoulder is still a big trend this spring/summer.  I love this Rebecca Minkoff Dev Off the Shoulder Minidress (bottom, right).  It would be great for shopping/brunch or the beach. There are so many great pieces on sale, I will be posting a Part III later this evening!

super stunner ankle jeans

Prada Sunglasses (also here)}

One of the things I needed to update for spring was a pair of light-coloured skinny jeans, preferably high-waisted.  I came across these MIRANDA + MOTHER The Super Stunner Ankle Jeans, which are part of the capsule collection designed by Miranda Kerr, and instantly was drawn to them.  I had ordered MOTHER jeans before and knew they ran a bit small so I sized up one size and they fit perfectly.  They're soft which makes them super comfortable to wear.  They are also very flattering, especially for your butt, which let's be honest most of us instantly look at when trying on jeans.

I paired these MIRANDA + MOTHER jeans with this Love Sam Tasseled Off-the-Shoulder Top I bought recently at Anthropologie.  I actually prefer to wear this top not off-the-shoulder, but it's great that it can be worn both ways.  These MIRANDA + MOTHER jeans are an ankle jean, but because I'm so petite I cuffed them and paired them with my Steve Madden mules (for height), which are always on repeat for spring because they go with literally everything.
