cold shoulder

Brixton Dalila Hat (avail in black, in red here);
Schutz Erlina Sandal (also here, love this colour);

We went to dinner to one of my favourite restaurants (a fondue restaurant!) called The Melting Pot.  I wore this pretty floral dress from Pixie Market.  I'm loving the off-the-shoulder trend (can it always be a trend, please?), but I also love the cut-out shoulder, or the 'cold shoulder' trend (obsessed with this sweater, this floral dress, this romper, this striped top and this ruffle top).  This dress is super cute on its own, but the cut outs make it more interesting.  I brought out the touches of red in the dress by pairing it with my favourite Schutz sandals.

ready (set) go

ready, set, go

Today's #OOTD is inspired by my life the past couple of weekends.  Going from the beach to dinner, a set like this is perfect (which is why I ordered it just now ha).  It's easy breezy enough for the beach but dressy enough for dinner.  Once we start swimming in the ocean, things will change and I'll need to think about two outfits/day.  But I also love the fact that a set is like a romper, which if you haven't noticed by now I'm obsessed with, but you can use the pieces separately.  I'd wear the top with a denim skirt, cutoffs or white jeans (all high-waisted) and the skort with a white tank (and denim jacket if weather permitted), or possibly a crochet crop top.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

bahama bloom

Lack of Color The Spencer Boater Hat;
Marc by Marc Jacobs Bracelet (old, similar);
Prada Sunglasses}

When we first moved to Myrtle Beach, the beach seemed like a place you had to prepare to go to.  To be honest, I wasn't that big of a beach person.  Now we head there even for an hour if that's all the time we have.  You get over the whole sand everywhere thing.  I threw on this romper which is going to be on repeat all summer.  I just read about Tim Gunn apparently saying if you're in the double digits, you shouldn't be wearing a romper.  Has he seen this romper??  I will be wearing rompers until I'm 90 years old ha.  They're so easy to throw on.  You can wear this one to the beach and then straight to dinner.  I also love this Lack of Color hat because it's a bit bigger than my other ones, which is better coverage for the face.

for love of lace

{For Love & Lemons Isabella Top (also here and on sale here, maxi dress version here);
skirt: Tularosa (sold out, similar here and love this one);
hat: Urban Outfitters (similar here);
sunglasses: Prada}

I was originally drooling over the crop top version of this top (see post here), but I ended up going for this style because I felt it was more versatile.  I purchased it a little while ago at Revolve and now it seems to be sold out (other colours of the crop top version here), but unlike most people who wear the clothes they buy right away because they're excited to have new clothes, I stare at them hanging on my rack and wait to wear them, especially pieces as special as this one.  It was such a gorgeous night Sunday and we were heading out to dinner so I decided it was time.  It is such a beautiful top and one I will cherish for years.  I tried it with white jeans, but decided on a denim skirt because it was so warm out.  It also looks great with cutoffs for a more casual look.

You can also shop For Love & Lemons here and here.

current mood: purple rain

purple

All things purple today in honour of Prince.  I went to do my usual #OOTD post yesterday and I just instantly started creating this collage, but I wasn't up for posting anything.  It's been a sad few days, but also bittersweet because I love hearing all of Prince's songs playing everywhere and reading the stories.  He was one-of-a-kind, especially when it came to fashion (check out Prince's 25 Most Memorable Outfits by Glamour).  His songs are forever classics.  I probably have listened to 'When Doves Cry' a million times.  It helped me get through some tough times when I was younger.  When I got my first tattoo in college, I knew exactly what I was going to get: a dove.  Prince was also a Gemini, which makes my other tattoo (our sign) even more special.

under your spell

Lacey Denim Cutoff Shorts (in 'Stark Black');
Isabel Marant Boots (sold out, love these and similar in black here);
Brixton Dalila Hat in Sand;
sunglasses: Prada}

I'm under the ocean's spell.  It was such a gorgeous weekend we went on both Saturday and Sunday.  It really is the most calming place you could be.  I'm also under the spell of this brand, seriously.  Every piece I come across, I desperately want.  I saw a beautiful pink flowy perfection of a dress on Instagram that apparently comes out in May that I'm dying to get my hands on.  I bought a turquoise midi dress in this print (see here), but I really wanted this gorgeous wine colour in the maxi skirt (here, dress version here).  Unfortunately the skirt wouldn't work on me because I'm so petite (it's not the kind of skirt you could easily hem because you would lose the pretty details), so I was so happy when I saw the blouse at Revolve.  It was warm so I paired this top with shorts, but it was a bit breezy so I paired the outfit with booties.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

burger queen

hat: Urban Outfitters (similar here)}

A sweater with a crown on it and rhinestones?  All over it.  But I have a confession to make: I'm not actually a huge fan of burgers.  I love a Big Mac once in a while but that's mainly because they're super thin.  A big, juicy burger?  No, thanks.  BUT I am obsessed with veggie burgers.  My favourite place to get them in Myrtle Beach is a place called River City Cafe (on 21st Ave) (see previous post here).  They're super tasty.  So, I'm more like 'Veggie Burger Queen'.  Or 'Ice Cream Queen', which is what we were getting when this picture was taken.

Btw, I'm OBSESSING over Wildfox's 'Motel Dreamers (Summer 2016)' Lookbook!  My favourites are below, but you can check out the entire lookbook here.

#OOTD / Coachella

#OOTD: Coachella

Happy Friday!  Keeping the festival vibe going with today's #OOTD.  I've never been to Coachella but have always wanted to go.  I love a good romper and you can't go wrong with denim.  Easy to throw on and go.  A backpack would be the best bag to carry your stuff in since you want your hands free.  The Erlina sandal by Schutz is one of the most comfortable sandals ever and you definitely want that walking around all day.  I prefer a kimono over a jacket because they're so lightweight but they're great for evenings for a little cover up.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

eclectic & swingy

sunglasses: Prada}

It cooled down this past weekend and I was a bit annoyed that I couldn't wear one of my new rompers or dresses to dinner because I'm dying for summer weather to get here (we keep getting teased with it), but then I saw this jacket and although was picturing it with a crochet crop top and high-waisted cutoffs, I took advantage of the weather and paired it with skinny jeans instead.  This jacket is SO beautiful.  Maybe I was drawn to it because I'm Ukrainian and it reminded me of the shirts I used to wear as a child, but either way I'm so happy it's one of the items I scooped up at the Shopbop sale for 25% off (unfortunately now over).  But this jacket is not as lightweight as I had thought (or it probably looks), which is great for the weather now, but it's lightweight enough that it'll be great for summer nights at the beach.  So, well worth the full price.
