all of the pretty sweaters

LoveShackFancy Ryland Sweater (sold out, found it here, cropped cardigan version here)

I love fall fashion and cozy sweaters are my jam, but it's still 80 degrees in Florida so I've had to limit my sweater shopping, which has been difficult because there are SO many gorgeous ones out there!  (I try to stick to cotton or acrylic ones, instead of ones with wool, until the temps really drop.)  This LoveShackFancy Ryland Sweater sold out immediately, but you can get back-in-stock notifications and I found a couple sizes left at Farfetch (links above).  I'm not surprised it sold out... the cotton candy colours, the balloon sleeves and the mixed star details.  Since it's still quite warm here, I paired the pretty pink and purple sweater with a pair of white eyelet shorts.

I've come across so many pretty sweaters.  I'm a sucker for anything with a pretty ruffle, embroidery and/or a balloon sleeve.  Below are some pretty sweaters that are at the top of my list:

ZARA has too many beautiful ones to choose from:

 ZARA Oversized Wool Blend Cardigan (baby blue! balloon sleeves!)

Happy (sweater) shopping!

wisteria in amelia island

We took a last-minute trip to Florida last week and I wore this beautiful Spell & the Gypsy dress out to dinner one night in Fernandina Beach.  I'm very into purple right now, which is a big trend for fall, so when I saw this beautiful dress I immediately ordered it.  I forgot my other sandals in the car so I just slipped on my Adidas slides, which I pretty much wear with everything anyway.  But I'm very excited for cooler temps because this dress will be great paired with booties!  (I'm eyeing these Sam Edelman booties.)

Happy shopping!

P.s. My daughter wore her Spell Folk Town dress, which I purchased last year and appears to be out of stock, but the blouse is still available, which she also has, here!

purple puff sleeve sweater

Levi's 501 Short Long;
 Lack of Color Zulu Rancher

For Love & Lemons is known for their delicate, lacy pieces, especially in lingerie, but I am obsessed with their knits.  Every fall I look forward to seeing what they put out and this year did not disappoint.  How pretty is this puff sleeve sweater?  I love the colour and I'm all for a puff sleeve.  It could be dressed up or down.  I paired it with a new pair of Levi's denim shorts, which are super comfortable.  This sweater also comes in green!  I'm also loving this color block pullover and this cropped sweater.  I also ordered this v-neck knit back in May (worn here on my Insta), which is now on sale, and can't wait to wear it when it starts to cool down!

Happy shopping!

Even though we don't get fall weather usually until the end of October, fall is my favourite season to shop for so I love browsing my favourite sites (Revolve, Shopbop, Free People, Anthropologie, Nordstrom) and saving my favourite pieces in my 'shopping cart'.   Florals, animal prints, jewel tones, plaid and purple are some of the trends this season.  On their own, they're pretty much classic prints and colours for fall (except maybe purple), but I'm loving how they're being mixed together: florals are being mixed with animal print (see ASTR the Label Surplice Smocked Top and RIXO Kelly Skirt, above) and animal prints are being mixed with plaid AND florals (see Free People Fields of Plaid Buttondown, above).  My favourite piece I've come across so far is the NSF plaid skirt mixed with denim.  I'm a sucker for anything plaid.  Mixed with denim?  Sold.  Trend or not, I think everyone should own something plaid.  Even a simple pair of plaid pants like the ones above from ZARA - it beats wearing plain black to work every day.

I've worn plaid quite a bit on the blog: a perfect plaid shirt by Free People as seen on the blog here, mixed with more plaid here, mixed with stripes here and mixed with a floral blouse (back in 2013!) here.  I love mixing prints.  It's fun to experiment.  I'm sure I've said this on the blog before, but the easiest way to mix prints is to stick within the same colour family.  Or if you're not sure about mixing prints, try wearing a leopard print shoe (or boot) with a floral top and keep your bottoms neutral, or pair a plaid headband with a floral print skirt.  Or if you're still not sure, let the pros do it for you and purchase a piece that does the mixing for you!

#OOTD / moto jacket

#OOTD / moto jacket

Happy Friday!  Continuing my love (again after many years) for purple, I am obsessing over this BlankNYC Morning Suede Moto Jacket.  (It comes in other colours!)  I'd be all over it, except I'm not sure we're going to get many more cool days in the South to warrant the purchase of any kind of jacket.  I've been wearing sweaters the past couple of days and have been dying because it gets hot in the afternoon.  If I were to buy this jacket, I'd pair it with a pair of patched jeans like these amazing Madewell x B Sides Reworked Slim Boyjeans and my Vans, which are my go-to sneakers.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

off shoulder gingham

The shot, above, was taken before we headed out for my birthday, but we ran out of time and only had a few pictures so we reshot the look.

 {MLM LABEL Maison Off Shoulder Top (this colour sold out, also love this pink gingham dress);
Tularosa Shorts (similar here);
Rebecca Minkoff Mini Suki Cross Body Bag (this colour sold out, also here in lilac);

Last week I wrote about my favourite top ever.  This gingham top easily takes second place.  Unfortunately this colour is already sold out!  But I linked the black/white version and the dress version in pink, which is adorable.  I was looking for a special piece for my birthday and this top is definitely special.  I love the oversized fit (we went to a pirate show and had a 4 course meal and I was able to pig out and not worry about being uncomfortable).  I'm obsessing over off-the-shoulder tops but this one sold me because I have a slight obsession with gingham, the ruffled overlay is so pretty and of course the colour is gorgeous.  This gingham top is fun and easy breezy which is what I look for to wear in this heat.  I wanted to pair this top with my kick flare jeans, but since it was too hot I paired it with my favourite Tularosa shorts which are equally as comfortable.  (They're also the only shorts where the top didn't fully cover them.)  I'm obsessed with these booties and wear them any chance I get, but I also love that they're matchy-matchy but not too matchy.

Update: I found this colour on MLM's site (see here)! (Last time I checked they didn't have it.)
Happy shopping!

current mood: purple rain

purple

All things purple today in honour of Prince.  I went to do my usual #OOTD post yesterday and I just instantly started creating this collage, but I wasn't up for posting anything.  It's been a sad few days, but also bittersweet because I love hearing all of Prince's songs playing everywhere and reading the stories.  He was one-of-a-kind, especially when it came to fashion (check out Prince's 25 Most Memorable Outfits by Glamour).  His songs are forever classics.  I probably have listened to 'When Doves Cry' a million times.  It helped me get through some tough times when I was younger.  When I got my first tattoo in college, I knew exactly what I was going to get: a dove.  Prince was also a Gemini, which makes my other tattoo (our sign) even more special.
