the t-shirt dress

I have been living in t-shirt dresses.  When the kids were in school before the pandemic, I was living in pjs most days until they got home.  But now that I'm occasionally seen in the background of my daughter's virtual class, I have to put on actual clothes and most of the time I am not in the mood.  Enter the t-shirt dress.  It's as comfy as a pair of pjs, but you look like you have your life somewhat together.  You can throw it on and you're ready to go.  I love this bright, striped ASOS t-shirt, which I'm able to wear as a dress because I'm not even 5' tall.  I love the sleeves and, of course, the colour!  (Tip: if the t-shirt/dress is too short, pair them with bicycle shorts.  When it gets cooler, throw on a pair of black tights!)   I have both colours in this Urban Outfitters t-shirt dress.  I purchased this Free People Avery Tunic in a blueish/grey, which is sold out, but it comes in two other colours.  I'm hoping they come out with more colours because it's SO comfy.  I'm also coveting this Free People All Day Long Midi T-Shirt Dress, which comes in 6 colours.  Another bonus to a t-shirt dress is they're very budget friendly!  All the ones that I have mentioned are $50 or less!

When it cools down here, I'll be pairing these t-shirt dresses with black Chelsea boots.  Check out my post here on the chunky boots I'm eyeing for fall!

pretty pleats & peonies & paperbag shorts

These For Love & Lemons shorts are SO pretty.  I love that they come with a belt, which is detachable (bonus!).  I love a paper bag short, they're so comfortable.  If you love mixing prints like I do, these shorts look great styled with this For Love & Lemons gingham, ruffle blouse.  I styled these peony-printed shorts with an orange Free People sweater.  They would also look great with a pink sweater, which is what I'll style them with next.

Are you a fan of the paperbag style?

I'm coveting these Free People paperbag jeans.  I really like the light wash on these paperbag jeans from Madewell.  I love dark denim, but I try to hold off until almost winter to pull those out.  ZARA has paperbag jeans that come in 7 colours and are under $50!  These ZARA paperbag denim shorts are cute and under $40!  The one thing I miss about living in Canada when it comes to fashion is wearing faux leather.  I'm loving these MINKPINK Vegan Leather Realist Shorts and these Amanda Uprichard ones.  I'd definitely be ordering these BB Dakota Vegan Leather Paper Bag Pants.

Happy shopping!

sweater set

Happy first day of fall!  It's been gloomy on and off here in Florida the past few days with a slight breeze and I've been loving the slightly cooler temps.  It gave me a chance to wear this pretty Arnhem set.  I love any set, but I looooove a sweater set.  This Arnhem set (pieces are sold separately) is SO pretty.  I love the baby pink colour, which is a fun colour to wear when it's gloomy out.

Another set I bought recently that I can't wait to wear is this For Love & Lemons sweater set (below).  It's a little heavier so I'll have to wait for it to cool down a few more degrees.  I love the pom pom accents.  I'll be pairing this set with high-waisted denim since the top is cropped.  This Callahan x REVOLVE Cardigan Set is similar (minus the pom poms) and comes in 3 colours.

I also recently purchased this Show Me Your Mumu You Bet Set.  It's a sweatshirt and shorts combo and is SO cozy.  Perfect for when I don't feel like dressing up, but not nervous to be caught in in the background of my daughter's online classes.  I've also been eyeing this cozy tie-dye set by Free People.  I'm also loving these ZARA Wool Blend Knit Shorts and matching Wool Blend Knit Sweater.

Happy (set) shopping!

floral blouse & denim

You can never go wrong with a floral blouse & denim (whether it be cutoffs, a denim skirt, or jeans).  The pairing works in any season too.  This Arnhem Clothing Flora Blouse unfortunately sold out quickly, but they dropped a new collection, including the Juliette Blouse (I love the print - I ordered the tunic dress and it is SO pretty!).  When it cools down, this blouse will look great tucked into a pair of high-rise skinny jeans, paired with ankle boots, over-the-knee boots, or chunky boots, which are a big trend for fall, like these Madewell The Lorelei Lace-Up Boot, these Dr. Martens 2976 Quad Chelsea Boots, these Dolce Vita Huey Booties (I ordered a pair in black), or these Anthropologie Suede Platform Chelsea Boots.

Below are some other floral blouses I'm coveting for fall:

jumpsuit joy 2

I love jumpsuits so much.  It's probably one of the main reasons why I wish I was taller.  They're always so long and I'm too lazy to get things hemmed.  Also, it hurts to spend so much money on a piece of clothing only to have to cut off a huge chunk of it's beautiful material.  It feels wrong.  So when I come across one that I don't have to hem (even better when I can wear flat shoes with it), I get really happy.  (One of my favourite jumpsuits of all time is this colourful, striped one by Free People.)  As soon as I put this Faithfull the Brand Jumpsuit on, I instantly fell in love with it.  Having put on a few pounds during this pandemic, I'm happy it has a belt to cinch the waist in.  This jumpsuit is a little too long on me to wear with flat sandals so I paired it with wedge sandals and my go-to Lack of Color hat.

Other jumpsuits I'm coveting (but most likely sadly too short for):

Faithfull the Brand Anika Jumpsuit
Isabel Marant Etoile Timea Jumpsuit (this one would be great for fall, paired with a denim jacket!)
Hemant and Nandita Fluer Jumpsuit (SO gorgeous!)
MIKOH Sayama Jumpsuit (comfy enough to lounge around the house in)
Free People Marina One Piece (under $100!)
Free People Hazel Mixed Print Jumpsuit
Anthropologie Bristol Wide-Leg Jumpsuit (under $100!)
Pam & Gela Tie Back Jumpsuit (love the ruffles and open back!)
ASOS DESIGN Square Neck Linen Jumpsuit (under $60! Love the colour and tie back!)

Happy (jumpsuit) shopping!

hello, mid-September (& Free People sweaters)

October feels just around the corner!  I'm not a big fan of Halloween. I don't know why. Maybe because I don't like scary movies. But I even almost always skip the Halloween episodes of my favourite TV shows. I love dressing up, but for some reason have never cared for dressing up for Halloween (at least since college). I'm not sure why I'm not a big fan but I guess I have always felt it was a waste of money since it only lasts for one day.  I do, however, love anything pumpkin-related so I love decorating with pumpkins (how cute are these Pottery Barn light up LED Jack O' Lanterns?), baking with pumpkins (I love this pumpkin bread recipe!), etc.  Now that it's mid-September, I'm really starting to get into the Halloween season and sweater weather, even though it's deathly hot out.  I guess because I'm mostly indoors and always cold from the airconditioning I get fooled and keep ordering sweaters.

I love a Free People sweater.  They never disappoint.  I'm posting a mirror selfie of this Free People Easy Street Space Dye Pullover because it's a little heavier than I was expecting so it'll probably be a while before I get to wear it out.  But I love it so much and wanted to share.  I love a striped sweater and it's so bright and colourful!  I could almost wear it as a dress, but not quite.  This sweater comes in two other colours and I'm eyeing the blue one.  But I promised myself I would hold off on buying anymore sweaters until it actually starts cooling down here.  We've had a few storms and there are moments where I can feel the fall air and I get really excited.

Some other Free People sweaters I'm eyeing:

Star Sign Pullover (love both the bright pink and sand colour!)
String Lights Pullover (another bright, striped sweater!)
So Low So High Cashmere Sweater (a cashmere sweater for under $150! 11 colours to choose from!)
Angelic Pullover (4 colours to choose from! I'm eyeing the jade colour.)
FP One Allegra Cardi (this cardi looks SO cozy!)

miss piggy & pink gucci

ZARA Miss Piggy Disney T-Shirt TRF (sold out online)

Since moving to Florida, I've had to run a lot of errands and realized I was in need of some casual t-shirts.  Clearly being home for the most part since March, I have worn out most of my t-shirts.  I normally head to Free People for casual tees, but during our move I rediscovered a ZARA t-shirt I had in my closet that I had forgotten about and headed to their site.  I picked up several tees, including this cute Miss Piggy tee, which of course sold out while I was writing out this blog post.  It doesn't surprise me.  I mean, who doesn't love Miss Piggy?  (I'm also loving this Hello Kitty tee and this Back to the Future tee!)  I paired the cute tee with AGOLDE high-waisted denim cutoffs and my go-tos (Vans, Lack of Color hat).

A new addition to my closet is this adorable pink Gucci GG Marmont Super Mini Bag.  I don't even recall how I came across it because I rarely purchase designer bags because I prefer to purchase clothes, but as soon as I saw it I instantly fell in love.  I'm a petite person so I love mini bags.  The problem was, I couldn't decide which one to get!  My favourite colour is pink so it seemed obvious that I would choose pink, but the more I researched the bag, the more complicated things got.  I came across this multicoloured pastel version and was thisclose to purchasing it instead.  But since it's obviously not a cheap purchase, I thought pink was the more practical purchase.  I then started debating between which style to get.  I love the shape of this mini bag, but I also love the bucket bag.  In the end, I went with the first bag I laid my eyes on and I'm so happy I did.

Chained bags are a big trend for fall 2020.  I found some cute, more budget-friendly chain bags below!

House of Want faux leather bag (under $100!)
Marc Jacobs The Hot Shot crossbody bag
Sancia The Louane Chain Bag (love the colour for fall!)
Marc Jacobs The Mini Cushion Bag
Free People Diego Chain Shoulder Bag (under $100!)
Tory Burch Robinson Leather Wallet On a Chain (comes in 5 colours!)
ZARA Quilted Maxi Crossbody Bag (love a denim bag, also comes in black)

effortless tunic

I have been living in this Free People Getaway With Me Tunic!  I love a tunic because I'm so petite and I can wear them as a mini dress because mini dresses are usually regular-sized dresses on me.  Of course I love the colour of this tunic, but it's SO lightweight and comfortable that I'm considering purchasing the white one.  (I ordered this denim tunic in white so I'll see how it fits/feels first.  Free People also carries that tunic in a cotton/linen blend here.)  The tunic I'm wearing feels like I'm wearing nothing and nothing is what I'd prefer to be wearing in this heat.  It also comes in green, but I can't quite tell what shade of green it will be in person.  (I'm really into bright green right now.  I just ordered this green tunic even though it's deathly hot out.)  I paired the pretty, pink tunic with some old ASOS pastel-coloured sandals that I also rediscovered while moving and my go-to Lack of Color hat for a day at the beach.

If you're over summer and wanting to start shopping for fall, Free People has a gorgeous floral tunic I'm eyeing over at Revolve.  It is making me reminisce about all of my Free People floral tunics like this green one, this purple one, this blush one and this yellow one!

Happy (tunic) shopping!
