poolside

I feel really lucky that I get to spend most of my days by the pool with my kids.  What a change from working in an office every day for over 10 years.  Moving to Myrtle Beach has been an amazing experience and I'm so glad we took the leap.  What a change in wardrobe too.  I'm so used to wearing office clothes every day.  Now I live in shorts and a tee, summer dress, or romper.  Or cover-ups... Because I'm petite I could wear this tunic as a dress and it's especially perfect as a cover-up (also love this one), which is what I pictured when I bought it at the Anthro here at The Market Common.  My sister and I are heading back to that area tonight for a girls' night (dinner and Magic Mike XXL!) and I'm excited to wear a pretty cami that I bought a little while ago.  Stay tuned...

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

strappy

{Free People Triangle Tank*; shorts: Talula; bracelet: BCBG;

I'm so excited my sister is finally here and I get to show her around Myrtle Beach.  Yesterday my kids and I took her to our favourite place for brunch, Crepe Creation Cafe, in Market Common.  It was great because we split a savoury one (Mediterranean) and then split a sweet one (Almond Joy).  My son only ever wants the sweet one (The Classic - Nutella with strawberries).  She loved them just as much as we do so we'll definitely head back before she leaves.  It was way too hot and sticky (don't let the breeze fool you!) to walk around after we ate so we just headed back to the pool for a swim.  But first we quickly stopped at the cute park they have in the middle of Market Common (there's a fence surrounding it) and snapped some pictures while my kids played.  I love this simple but not too simple tank top.  It's perfectly flowy for a hot day like yesterday.  I also tried out my new wedge sandals.  Besides my feet swelling from the heat after a couple of hours, these sandals are SO comfortable.  Especially when I'm out and about with my kids, I like to wear flat shoes, but these are the perfect pair to give you the feel of flats, but also give you some height.

ethereal

{Tularosa Nora Shorts in White; tank, bracelets: H&M (old);
Schutz Erlina Sandal in Scarlet (also here, get 3% cash back using Ebates!);
hat: Talula; sunglasses: Prada}

  I immediately knew when these shorts arrived and I saw how delicate they were in person that I wanted to pair them with this white H&M tank for an ethereal look.  (I'm also really trying hard to wear older pieces in my closet and not just the new ones.)  I love wearing all white and even thought of pairing this outfit with white shoes, but decided on these red sandals for a pop of colour.  Also, pretty much all of my shoes are getting neglected since these sandals came into my life.

two tank

{FP One Two Tank; ring: Free People (love these); shorts: One Teaspoon;
bracelet: BCBG; hat: Urban Outfitters; sunglasses: Prada}

You know when you go to check out your Free People shopping cart and then realize you put over $2,000 worth of stuff in your cart?  No?  Just me?  I do it all the time.  Then I remember I'm not rich and check out 3 or 4 items and cry myself to sleep.  I literally did it while I was looking for this tank to link to my blog and I had no intention of shopping (well I do now after I finish up with this post).  My last shopping trip I was specifically looking for a black tank and ended up grabbing a couple.  I love that this one is a two-in-one.  Honestly, I've always hated wearing a bra, but in this South Carolina heat it's painful.  But I find a lot of clothes the past few years have been too sheer so even black tanks are hard to wear without a bra (now I don't think I need to wear a bra but I find I still get looks if I'm not wearing one).  Anyway, not with this one.  And the details are killer, as always with Free People.  Speaking of which, there are a few items calling my name...

online shopping

{Schutz Erlina Lace Up Sandals (also here, get 3% cash back using Ebates!}

These pretty shorts and sandals are becoming my go-to pieces lately.  I ordered them from revolveclothing.com, which is one of my favourite online sites and I really hope it gets added to Ebates.  I seriously cannot believe I'm just starting to use Ebates now.  You get 10% cash back when you shop at Neiman Marcus...what?!  3% when you shop at shopbop.com, which is another one of my favourite online sites and I can only imagine how much cash back I would've received by now.  Nordstrom is currently having their 'Anniversary Sale' and if you go through Ebates you get 6% cash back!  If you're going to shop the sale anyway, why not get extra savings?  I'm now becoming obsessed with getting cash back so please, please, Ebates, add revolveclothing.com to your list!

bombay floral

(other colours here and here);
bracelet: BCBG; hat: Urban Outfitters; sunglasses: Prada}

I wore this outfit for the 4th of July.  (My first 4th of July!)  We went to see fireworks at Broadway at the Beach.  They were great and next year we'll try the actual beach.  I put together some red, white and blue outfits, but to be honest it's so hot in South Carolina that I just wanted to wear something that didn't stick to my body.  Plus, this romper technically is red, white and blue.  I love rompers.  Sometimes they're not super flattering (especially because I'm petite and I don't normally wear heels - how amazing are these sandals?!), but they're just so easy to put on and a great alternative to a dress, especially when you know that you're going to be sitting a lot.  I especially love this one because of the ruffles.  It helps in the, um, bust area which makes it more flattering.

perfectly victorian

sandals: MICHAEL Michael Kors; sunglasses: Prada}

If someone asked me to describe Free People to them, I would show them this dress.  It's flowy and the details are incredibly beautiful.  I paired it with wedge sandals for a night out, but it looks great with a pair of gladiator sandals (I just bought these red ones and they look great with this dress).  I wore this dress out to dinner with my husband and kids - to celebrate our 10 year anniversary!  We tried a new restaurant this time (we have seriously been to Olive Garden 4x since we've moved here, mainly because it's down the street).  We went to Carrabba's Italian Grill.  I had the Margherita pizza and Caesar salad which were delicious and the Sogno Di Cioccolata "Chocolate Dream" dessert was to die for!
