honey / floral robe

I've noticed my recent purchases have been extra colourful lately (a lot of pink, purple, blue and even orange), but I've been really drawn to yellow.  When the second Spell & The Gypsy 'Blue Moon' drop was announced, I immediately fell in love with the Portobello Road Robe.  It's (shockingly) my first Spell & The Gypsy robe and I absolutely love it!  It'll be perfect as a beach cover up (I'm eyeing this yellow Tularosa one piece) or thrown on as a light jacket on a breezy evening.  The colours are so beautiful (a combination of my favourites) and, of course, I love the beautiful floral print.  This robe pairs perfectly with this sweet, yellow (or 'honey') Free People top, which is only $60!  (It also comes in two other colours.)  I love the cute, ruffled sleeves and keyhole closure in the back.  It's the perfect summer top!

birthday dress / floral summer dress

Happy first day of Summer!  Summer is my favourite season.  I love the heat, which is why we moved from Canada to South Carolina.  Fall is a close second, but mostly when it comes to fashion, and summer being here just means fall is close by.  Unfortunately, fall doesn't start here until November or so, but I'm not complaining... that's usually when the fall sales start.  Summer fashion isn't usually as exciting, but then LoveShackFancy dropped a line for Target a couple of weeks ago!  I stayed up until 3 am, which was worth it because I was able to score 3 beautiful dresses.  (Unfortunately I think the entire line sold out, but I'd keep checking for returns or your local store!)

Last weekend I 'celebrated' my birthday.  I put that in quotes because we didn't really do anything because I'm still too nervous to eat out.  Even though we didn't go anywhere, I wanted to dress up so I put on this LoveShackFancy for Target tiered dress and it definitely felt like a special occasion.  This dress is SO pretty!  The tiered style makes you want to twirl around in it.  I love a floral print and I love the colorblocking.  It's so comfortable too.  The best part?  It was $40!

If you missed out and are still looking for a summer dress, I found some other floral dresses for under $100:

Free People Take Me With You Ruffle Dress, $98
Free People Don't Dare Mixed Print Slip, $78
ASOS Design Midi Dress with Cut Out Back and Tie Waist, $60

ruffled tee

Free People Zoe Angular Sunglasses

As a stay-at-home mom, I'm always on the hunt for comfortable but cute clothes.  I've been eyeing this Free People Le Femme Tee for awhile and had I known how comfortable it is, I would've purchased it much sooner!  It's SO soft and feels as comfy as any tee I have.  But it has ruffles!  I also love the pretty pleating and lace details.  I paired it with my favourite, as-comfortable-as-denim-can-get, AGOLDE loose fit cutoff shorts.  This Victorian-inspired tee also comes in two other colours (linked above).  It also comes in ivory here, which is also super pretty and would obviously pair with anything and everything.  A comfy tee that's this pretty, it's hard to choose just one!

tie dye

Free People Pullover (similar here)
Free People Loafers (similar here and here)

I've been loving the tie dye trend and seeing such pretty pieces everywhere, but I instantly fell in love with this LoveShackFancy Ruffle Mini Skirt, which is sadly sold out everywhere. But I wanted to share the other tie dye pieces I've been eyeing:

purple

Purple was my absolute favourite colour when I was a kid.  My entire room was purple, from the walls to my comforter.  Then I got sick of it and pink became my favourite colour.  I avoided purple for the longest time, but am now starting to welcome it back with open arms.  I'm coveting this Faithfull the Brand skirt, this Ulla Johnson romper, these ZARA slouchy jeans and this Free People eyelet top.  I purchased this LoveShackFancy for Target Ruffle Dress, which I'm so excited to share on the blog!

This Spell & the Gypsy Collective Journey RaRa Mini Dress is another item I rented from Nuuly.  Was I mainly drawn to it because it's pink-based?  Probably.  I love anything mixed with pink.  Pink and red being my favourite of all time, followed by pink and orange, but I think pink and purple is becoming my new favourite colour combo.  This Spell dress was a little more fitted than I would have preferred (one of the great things about renting!), but I had fun wearing it.  It's not quite a mini dress on me since I'm so petite, but I found it was the perfect length.  It's a thin, lightweight dress so perfect for this heat!

If you're loving this print, but would prefer a different style, it also comes in a blouse, midi skirt and strappy maxi dress!

Happy shopping/renting!

blue moon / boho dress

Blogging about fashion brings me joy and helps me de-stress, but it could not feel less important right now.  I was one of the lucky ones to score this gorgeous Spell & The Gypsy Collective Portobello Road Boho Dress, which sold out very quickly.  When we shot this dress a couple of weeks ago, I was so happy wearing it, twirling around in it, but feel those images are not a representation of how I feel right now.  I've taken the past week to reflect and educate myself on the ways I can become a better ally to the Black community.  I spent most of my time reading, listening and talking with my children (who we have always taught to be kind to everyone, but now realize that was not enough) and will continue to do so because BLACK LIVES MATTER.  As someone who was a legal assistant for 15 years of her life, I was drawn to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc., an organization fighting for racial justice, which I have donated to and will continue donating to.

I will support Black-owned businesses (I found Glamour Magazine's '39 Black-Owned Businesses You Can Support Today and Everyday' and Gal Meets Glam's '26 Small Businesses Owned by Women of Color' a helpful start.)  Lemlem is a brand I've been noticing lately (I love this romper), but had no idea the pieces are made in Africa and create jobs for local artisans, which makes me drawn to the brand even more.  Afterpay has made it even easier to shop Black Owned BusinessesKlarna has done the same.  I followed some amazing women on Instagram, thanks to this post by Atlantic-Pacific.  By no means do I feel this is enough, but as stated in Vogue Magazine's '68 Black-Owned Fashion and Beauty Brands to Support Now and Always', these small steps do matter.
