pastels (part 2)

{leather jacket: Danier; sweater: Wildfox Couture; sunglasses: Guess;
Marc by Marc Jacobs Lily Polka-Dot Jeans, Classic Q Mini Hillier Hobo
(old, but larger version here); nails: Sephora by O.P.I 'Havana Nights'}

We were going Easter egg hunting and since I've been so obsessed with pastels lately, I thought about those yummy pastel chocolate eggs for inspiration when getting dressed.  It helped that I already had these polka dot Marc by Marc Jacobs jeans on hand.  Earlier I wrote about my obsession with the polka dot denim jacket here, but when I came across these jeans I had to have them because: a) I have an obsession with polka dots and b) it wasn't quite jean jacket weather.  (Far from it, actually.)  I'm so happy I bought them because they are SO comfortable.  That's not to say I won't end up with the jacket either.  Like I said, I have an obsession with polka dots!

Happy Easter! -M

spring is in the air

 I spy the CN Tower!

{Wilfred Diderot Sweater: (old, but other colours here); belt: Club Monaco (it's reversible!);
Georgie Tweed Skinny Pants, boots (sold out), sunglasses (old): Marc by Marc Jacobs}

You know spring is in the air when the first thing you want to do when you start to feel any kind of warm weather is go to the beach.  It was still a bit breezy so I put on my Marc by Marc Jacobs suede wedge boots (also because they're really comfortable), but I really, really hope this will be the last time I wear them.  Until next winter.

current obsession: checkered print dress

{Marc by Marc Jacobs Elsie Sweater Dress: marcjacobs.com}

I think I almost passed out when I saw this dress.  Sweaterdress?  Check.  Bold, beautiful colours?  Check.  Two of my favourite things combined into one dress making it the perfect spring dress I would never want to take off?  Check!

pastels

{leather jacket: Danier (old, but LOVE this Club Monaco one); jeans: 7 For All Mankind;
t-shirt: GAP; boots: Sam Edelman (also here); sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs;
necklace: Juicy Couture; nail polish: Sephora by O.P.I 'Havana Nights'}

I'm obsessing over pastels for spring.  It's becoming my favourite trend to the point that I'm specifically searching for pastel items.  Pastel leather, specifically, is a big trend so I'm finding so much inspiration for this leather jacket I bought probably 5 years ago and have neglected for the last few years.  (I actually contemplated selling it on eBay!)  Now I'm completely obsessing over it.  It's nice when you find something in your own closet and are able to make it feel new again.  (Note to self: everything old is new again.  Do not sell anything!)  I kept it simple this past weekend with jeans and a white tee because I needed a new manicure and decided to go pastel on my nails.  Plus, I'm lacking in the pastel accessories department and on my search, I came across this beautiful Marc by Marc Jacobs scarf, which would be perfect since it's still chilly on most days.  (We did luck out on Saturday with some scarf-free weather!)

Also, on my quest for pastel accessories, I came across this Cambridge bag in the most prettiest pink.

spring forward . . . to summer

{1: Patsy Stripe Top & Stacy Check Skirt; 2: Stacy Check Tank Dress;
3: Tailored Denim Blue Dress; 4: Smash Stripe Jersey Dress;
5: Dotty Chambray Dress Indigo; 6: Molly Check Dress
all available on marcjacobs.com}

Sigh.  Just looking at these looks is making me want to skip spring altogether and head straight into summer.  I am also obsessed with the head wraps!  I was hoping they were going to be available for purchase before my trip because I'm already lazy enough with my hair, but add two kids to the equation and good luck finding time to do your hair.  Thankfully, I'll now be able to replace my winter hats with these beautiful head wraps... and basically never have to do my hair, but still look put together.  Plus, that's 30 more minutes of beach time!

winter must-have: a toque

{top: Theory (sold out); jeans: 7 For All Mankind (old); jacket: GAP;
hat: Kate Spade; necklace: Juicy Couture (old); bracelet: BCBG (recent);
sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs (old); lipstick: Smashbox 'Fucshia Flash'}

{sweater: Forever 21; jeans: 7 For All Mankind; hat: Guess;
wedge booties: MICHAEL Michael Kors; sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs}

It's always depressing when you come back from a vacation to cold weather and almost immediately forget what the warmth feels like.  (Yesterday, there was a little glimpse of spring.  Hooray!)  I am not a winter person... although I do like wearing, what we Canadians call, toques!  (I think that's only because I have to because I get so cold so easily.)  Winter is so gloomy most of the time, so I'm drawn to hats with character to brighten things up... leopard-print, bright colours, pom-poms.  I love this Marc by Marc Jacobs one, it's super cute!

paradise island

taking in the view...
our first walk to the beach...
the Atlantis Royal Tower (we stayed at the Coral)...
I heart you, Paradise Island...
afternoon treat, daily...
originally I had an outfit picked out with heels, but I'm obsessed with these flats!
a breezy day, perfect for this C&C California dress I had yet to wear even though I bought it last summer...
saved the best (Valentino) for last...
saying good-bye... (which wasn't as depressing because I had also picked up these kick-ass leopard print sneakers at Zara to wear to and from the airport)
{Marc by Marc Jacobs Slingback Mouse Flats: Holt Renfrew (also here) /
top: H&M; shorts: AE; hat: Roxy; swimsuit: Madewell;
bracelet: BCBG (recent); sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs /
top: Lush; shorts: 7 For All Mankind; swimsuit: Juicy Couture;
sandals: G by Guess / top: Lush; hat: Roxy /
nails: Sephora by O.P.I 'The Lifeguard Makes Me Blush" with O.P.I "Polka.com" /
jeans: 7 For All Mankind (last year's, but LOVE these) /
dress: C&C California; swimsuit: Guess / sandals: Valentino; jeans: GAP
blouse: Eight Sixty (bought at Mendocino, also here) / sneakers: Zara}

I went to the mall before our trip to the Bahamas to pick up little things like jewellery to complete my outfits, not to buy new shoes.  But, of course, I went home with a pair of shoes.  At first I was trying on these, but then I spotted the adorable, bright pink slingback mouse flats, above.  Although the other pair are probably more practical (i.e., wear to work) and I contemplated getting them instead, in my head I knew which pair I'd be walking out of the store with.

wedge boots & camo

{jacket: Nasty Gal; turtleneck: GAP (old); jeans: Guess by Marciano (old);
lips: Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in 'Fuchsia Flash'}

{sweater: BCBG (recent); jeans: GAP; handbag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (sold out);
bracelets: BCBG, Coach (recent)}

I bought these Marc by Marc Jacobs wedge ankle boots this past fall and have been living in them.  I'm addicted to wedges because they are SO comfortable and I'm lacking in height.  I usually live in Uggs during the winter, but these have been keeping my feet nice and warm and they make me taller to boot (again, no pun intended!).

favourite sunglasses

{denim jacket: J Brand; sweater: Wilfred; jeans: Guess by Marciano (old);
boots: Dolce Vita (old);  bracelet: BCBG (recent)}

{blazer: Joie (also love this floral one); t-shirt: Guess by Marciano (old);
leatherette leggings: AG Adriano Goldschmied; bracelet: BCBG; handbag: RED Valentino
lipstick: Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in 'Fuchsia Flash'}

I probably have 7 or 8 pairs of sunglasses, but these are the ones I pretty much wear all the time.  I bought them a few years ago and they're still my favourite.  I think it's because they're classic, not too trendy and go with everything.  I love the colour against my skin tone, even in the winter.  (They're prescription so I wear them all year round.)

I'm thinking it might be time for a change though.  I am eyeing (no pun intended) these.
