candy stripes / sweaterdress

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!  I overate, as per usual, so sweaterdresses for the win!  We've had gorgeous weather lately so thankfully there's been no need for pants.  Also helpful that I'm petite enough to wear this Free People Candy Stripe Tunic as a dress.  I've always loved sweaterdresses, especially living in Canada.  Being able to throw one on with tights and run out the door was the only thing that got me through the winters.  I love any type of sweaterdress, but a pink one?  This one was a no-brainer for me.  Bonus: it's currently 60% off at Macy's!

I love shopping this time of year, when everything is on sale or even on clearance.  Some other tunics/sweaterdresses I'm eyeing:

Solid Sweater Dresses

Free People Good as Gold Sweater Dress
Free People Easy Street Tunic Sweater (comes in 7 colours!)
Free People Softly Structured Knit Tunic (comes in 5 colours!)
Bardot Long Sleeve Sweater Dress
Madewell Foldover Turtleneck Long Sleeve Sweater Dress

Printed or Patterned Sweater Dresses

Madewell Buffalo Check Long Sleeve Sweater Dress
Madewell Fair Isle Turtleneck Sweater Dress
LPA Floyd Sweater Dress
Lovers + Friends Kamalla Sweater Dress

This one's not on sale, but I love that this Tularosa sweaterdress is belted!  I'm also obsessing over this purple, leopard print For Love & Lemons Marielle Cardi Sweater Dress.

polar opposites sweater

We've been spoiled with gorgeous weather here in South Carolina (not including the next couple of days, brr).  The day we shot these pictures, most of the leaves had fallen and it was so beautiful!  As much as I prefer summer weather, I love dressing for this weather.  I love a sweater.  I love being able to wear a sweater and not have to cover it up with a coat.  I always look for unique details, prints or textures when shopping for a sweater.  I was drawn to the colour of this Free People Polar Opposites Sweater and I love the colorblock pattern.  This sweater is currently on sale (link above)!   Free People has a lot of great sweaters on sale.  I love the winter vibe of this Going Glacial Sweater.  I love pastels in the fall/winter so I'm eyeing this Lilac Skies Pullover, which is over 50% off.

As I was searching for this sweater to link on my blog, I found it even cheaper (67% off) at Nordstrom Rack!  They have some great Free People sweaters.  I love the colours of this Free People Fair Weather Cardigan, which is under $60!  This Free People Layer Cake Sweater (love the rose colour and peplum!) is only $45.  I love this off-the-shoulder sweater ($40), which comes in 4 colours.  This See the Rainbow Sweater, as seen on the blog here, is over 50% off!

Macy's also has some great deals on Free People sweaters.  They are currently offering an extra 20% off sale items!  I love the 'Sugar Candy' colour (and sleeves!) of this Home Town Cardigan Sweater.  I love this colourfully knit sweater, which also has great sleeves and comes in 3 colours.  How fun are the sleeves on this Cha Cha Swit Sweater?  You can check out all of their sweaters here.

peplum sweatshirt

ZARA Peplum Sweatshirt (comes in 3 colours)
FRAME Ali High-Rise Skinny Jeans (similar here)

I rarely wear all black everything, but these jeans are stretchy and I've been doing a lot of baking and eating a lot of holiday treats (thanks, Costco cannoli kit and large boxes of decadent chocolates!).  This ZARA peplum sweatshirt is also coming in handy!  It's very comfy and for $25 I scooped up two of the colours and am thinking about picking up the last colour.  I've always been a fan of peplum.  Some of my favourite pieces include this Free People pink peplum top (I also bought it in two colours) and this Free People plaid shirt.  Are you a fan of peplum?

december skies poncho (+ gift ideas!)

Free People December Skies Poncho (comes in 2 colours)

How pretty is this Free People poncho?  I love the bright colours.  This one fits more like a sweater, but a poncho would make a great gift for Christmas!  A poncho is perfect, for example, for a day of shopping in Canada (hello, Boxing Day sales!) so you don't have to worry about carrying a bulky coat around with you in the mall, but at least you're warm from the walk from your car.  I'm eyeing this Free People Stay in Fleece Poncho, it looks so cozy!  This Free People Follow The Arrow Poncho is on sale!  A simple black poncho by Tularosa.  I love a cable knit sweater so I'm eyeing this Corinne Cable Knit Poncho at Anthropologie.  This Rag & Bone Cashmere Poncho would keep you (or someone) very warm and it's on sale!  (It also comes in grey and is a little cheaper than the camel one.)  This UGG Charlynne Poncho at Nordstrom comes in 6 colours and is reasonably priced at $110!

plaid and checkerboard (+ gift ideas!)

FRAME Le High Skinny Jeans (old, similar here)

Happy December!  Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  We're Canadian so we don't really celebrate it, but I sure enjoyed the 5-day weekend with my kids!  We've been having the most beautiful weather (after a brief cold snap).  We did a lot of shopping and spent a lot of time outdoors.  Over the weekend I wore this plaid sweater by Jen's Pirate Booty.  I'm a big fan of Jen's Pirate Booty's gauzy summer pieces, but now I'm a big fan of their fall pieces.  It's very comfy and, as you know if you've been reading my blog, I'm a huge fan of the balloon sleeves.  Plus, it feels festive!  I paired this plaid sweater with my checkboard Vans sneakers for a matchy-matchy look.

I've also always been a fan of anything with a check pattern.  Below are a few pieces I'm coveting:

Lovers + Friends Aisling Pant
Lele Sadoughi x LoveShackFancy Knotted Headband
Splendid Eastwood Jacket
1. STATE Button Front Plaid Eyelash Cropped Cardigan
Free People Faded Dreams Cozy Trucker Jacket
525 American Houndstooth Pullover

These would make a great gift!

fuzzy striped pullover

I love stripes, especially black and white stripes.  One of the first items I usually buy for fall is a black and white striped sweater.  Not only is this pullover striped, it's fuzzy, oversized and under $100!  Of course I love the slouchy sleeves.  The best part about a pullover is that you can just throw it on and go.  We took advantage of the mild weather and headed out to lunch.  I paired the pullover with skinny jeans, white sneakers and my new Lack of Color hat.

I live in my Lack of Colour Zulu Rancher so I decided to invest in a black version.  I promise you, their hats are on the pricier side, but you will not be disappointed with the quality.  In fact, at lunch, the girl seated beside me was wearing one of their hats.  I could tell because of the ribbon.  Plus, I've been eyeing that one myself!

embroidered maxi top

How gorgeous is this Free People embroidered maxi top?  The colours, the print, the embroidery, the sleeves... I mean, it's perfection.  I had so much fun twirling around in it!  It's so flowy and lightweight, perfect for this time of year.  I've been dying to start dressing for fall and this maxi top is fall in a nutshell.  I love that you can wear it in multiple ways... with shorts or jeans, as a dress (worn with a slip underneath because it's sheer), or as a duster.

I'm now obsessed with maxi tops and Free People has many options to choose from.  I'm eyeing this sheer maxi top, this maxi top, which comes in 4 colours, and this bell-sleeved maxi top.  I was also eyeing this embellished maxi top this past summer and it's now over 50% off!

floral print ruffle mini skirt

This LoveShackFancy ruffle mini skirt is so fun!  It's also super comfortable.  We attended Fall for Greenville a couple of weekends ago and I wore this pretty skirt with a simple black tee and sneakers.  It was starting to feel like fall around here so this past weekend I paired the skirt with a knit tee and brown booties.  I love taking summer pieces (a skirt, dress...) and finding new ways to wear them into the next season.  This skirt would look great paired with a warmer sweater (I'm eyeing this Free People Moonbeam V Sweater) and knee high boots (I'm eyeing these Sam Edelman Indigo Boots).  You could also pretty much throw a cardigan on and you're good to go.

Other floral skirts I'm eyeing for fall:

Free People From the Valley Mini Skirt
  Madewell Ruffle-Wrap Mini Skirt
Sezane Carolina Skirt

the one with the 25th anniversary of friends

Friends is one of my all-time favourite TV shows.  So when I came across this Friends sweatshirt from Urban Outfitters a couple of years ago, I ordered it immediately.  It quickly became a favourite so when I noticed they still had some in stock this past winter, I ordered two more (one in my regular size and one a size up to wear with tights).  It's SO cozy.  Needless to say, I was excited when I heard Friends was celebrating it's 25th Anniversary and Friends products started popping up EVERYWHERE.

When we were in Florida a few weeks ago, we went to Target to pick up a few things and I came across a pair of Friends Jogger Pants, which are nice and lightweight, and a Friends T-shirt, which is super soft.  I love the joggers so I went onto the Target site to order another pair and came across this fun Friends mug, above.  I'm also loving this 24oz Friends Central Perk Mug that would be great for soup!  I'm also eyeing this Friends Cropped Sweatshirt that's perfect for the holidays.

Pottery Barn is also celebrating with a Friends 25th Anniversary collection.  As soon as the collection launched late July, I ordered the Central Perk Mug and Central Perk Travel Mug from the Friends Mug Collection, the Friends Welcome Pillow and the Friends Doormat, but they were clearly so popular that they're (still) on backorder.  They're also selling the famous Apothecary Coffee Table!  I was waiting to come across the birdcage, large, but sadly did not.

Even LEGO came out with a Friends Central Perk Cafe set!  Yes, I bought it, but my son was the one who actually convinced me because he knows I always watch it (and he thought it was a cool set).  It actually sold out so quickly, they're currently out of stock!

embroidered midi dress

We went out for pizza and what better dress to wear than a shapeless one?  You can eat all of the pizza and still be comfortable.  I especially love this dress because of the embroidery.  I'm a sucker for anything embroidered.  Free People always delivers in the embroidery department.  I'm eyeing this blouse, which also has puff sleeves (!) and this blue midi dress with contrasting embroidery, which also has puff sleeves (!).  I'm obsessed with this embroidered maxi top, which I'll feature on the blog soon!

fall neutrals

I love wearing neutrals in the fall (see here and here).  It's still warm here but I was itching to start dressing for fall so I paired these white Free People shorts with a knit top and brown boots.  These shorts are super comfortable and now on sale!

mostly meadow blouse

Some more florals and puff sleeves on the blog today!  This time in yellow.  I'm always drawn to yellow since I read in a magazine once that light yellow is a good colour for brunettes to wear.  So when I saw this Free People blouse, which also has a floral print and puff sleeves, it was a no-brainer.  It's a great transitional piece too because it has long sleeves, but it's also very light and airy.  I paired the blouse with a pair of Levi's, but it would also look great with a skirt and a pair of booties!

Speaking of yellow (and florals), I've also been eyeing these:

Faithfull the Brand Jeanette Dress
Faithfull the Brand Farah Midi Dress
Faithfull the Brand Dolores Jumpsuit
Auguste x Revolve Olsen Belle Mini Dress
Free People Dazey Shirt Dress
