plaid for the holidays

AGOLDE Sophie High Rise Crop Jeans (similar here and here)
Dolce Vita Boots (similar here)

Happy first day of December!  This is my favourite time of the year.  I love the holidays.  I love decorating for Christmas.  I hate cold weather but I loved seeing snow on Christmas morning growing up in Canada, although it seemed rare.  I never get sick of the decorations so I start decorating early.  We have a fake tree so that helps.  Now that we live in the States, our decorating starts the day after Thanksgiving.  The cozy sweaters come out, but so does the plaid.  I love to wear plaid for fall, but come winter, I go all out with plaid - decorating with cozy plaid throws and even use plaid wrapping paper for Christmas presents!

I've loved plaid for as long as I can remember (as seen on the blog here, here and here, for example), but I was drawn to this Free People dress because of the exaggerated sleeves!  It also just looked effortless, which I can confirm it is.  The material is so comfy.  It's oversized, which I like because you can move around in it.  I kept it casual with a pair of Vans.  It also looks great with a belt if you want to dress it up a bit more.  Just add a pair of boots!  It originally only came in two colours so I chose the navy since I chose the top in the 'blush combo'.  Then Free People added two additional colours in the dress!  I'm bummed I missed out on my size in the 'wild raspberry combo'.  This dress is that comfy that I would have ordered another one.

This Free People top is the same material, but only comes in the original two colours.  It's so comfy.  I paired it with skinny jeans and a pair of Dolce Vita ankle boots.  This top is now on sale!  Throw on a cozy cardigan for extra warmth.

 Some other plaid items I'm coveting:

I'm obsessing over this Free People maxi skirt, which unfortunately would be too long on me
Free People PDX Set (love a sweater set!)

ruffled knit vest

Dolce Vita Boots (similar here)

Happy Monday!  I did not do much this weekend, except catch up on my sleep from last week and do some online shopping.  I am always browsing the 'new in' section of ZARA.  I recently came across a sweater vest that I thought was really cute (to be honest, I can't recall which one exactly), but it sent me down a rabbit hole of sweater vests that I ended up ordering five.  It's funny because the first thing I thought of was Chandler Bing from Friends and that I couldn't believe I was buying sweater vests, ha.  Well, these are obviously not your boring sweater vests.  I love that sweater vests are now a trend because it means I can get my sweater fix, but not sweat to death here in North Florida.  I ordered various colours (cream, pink...) and various textures (cable knit, wool blend...).  The first one I'm sharing is this forest green, ruffled knit vest.  The sleeves are definitely what sold me.  It's also a soft material and not too heavy.  Once it cools down here, I'll be pairing it with a long-sleeved tee underneath and a pair of jeans.

Happy (sweater vest) shopping!

corduroy

I have always loved corduroy.  I remember back in college owning a pair of brown, flared, corduroy pants that I wore all the time.  Since it's quite warm here, but I've been wanting to dress for fall, these Free People corduroy shorts strike a happy balance.  I can wear them now (with a tee and lightweight sweater, as worn above) and later (with a chunky knit sweater - I love this Line + Dot Fringe Cable Knit Sweater, which I wore on the blog here, which now comes in brown!).  These Free People corduroy shorts also come in white, which I'm considering purchasing because I love wearing white in the A/W, especially from head to toe.  I first paired these cord shorts with a black Free People tee a couple of weeks ago, but I really love them paired with this orange Free People sweater.  Just in time for Halloween!

Other corduroy pieces I'm eyeing for fall are these Free People cord trousers (available in 5 colours!), these Free People overalls (available in 4 colours!), these Free People coveralls, this Free People cord jumper (I love the moss colour), this Free People cord mini skirt (I'm coveting the one in cream) and these Rolla's East Coast Cord Flare Pants (available in 5 colours!).  These, unfortunately, would be too long on me, but how amazing are these Free People embroidered cord jeans?  I love, love, love the light blue colour of these ZARA High Waist Corduroy Pants.  And how gorgeous is this ZARA Animal Print Corduroy Dress?  If an animal print dress is too much, it also comes in a mini skirt!  Another great corduroy dress is this Free People Call Me Cord Mini Dress (I love the puff sleeve!).  A pretty pink corduroy jumpsuit by LoveShackFancy?  Yes, please!  I also love this pink Topshop corduroy babydoll minidress (I'm a sucker for a balloon sleeve!).  These HUE corduroy leggings look super comfortable (available in 4 colours!).  I'm obsessing over this byTiMo Floral Ditsy Corduroy Mini Dress.

My love for corduroy doesn't end with clothing.  I love the pretty pale colours of this Free People Cord Lieutenant Cap and this blue Brixton Ashland Corduroy Cap.  I wore a corduroy cap by Lack of Color on the blog here!  I also love this pink Lele Sadoughi Corduroy Knotted Headband.

Happy (corduroy) shopping!

fall neutrals

I love wearing neutrals in the fall (see here and here).  It's still warm here but I was itching to start dressing for fall so I paired these white Free People shorts with a knit top and brown boots.  These shorts are super comfortable and now on sale!

new year, new hat

Lack of Color Zulu Rancher (also here);
Free People Break Away Pullover Sweater (avail in 5 colours; also here on sale);
AGOLDE Sophie High Rise Crop Jeans;
Rebecca Minkoff Kaiegan Boots

I love hats. I've loved hats for as long as I can remember. When I lived in Canada, I wore toques (beanies) all winter.  Sometimes they're even necessary in the South (i.e., a couple of weeks ago).  In the summer, I live in my Lack of Color The Spencer Boater.  (I'm eyeing this Hat Attack Braid Continental Hat, which is similar, but has a cute braided band.)  Lack of Color makes great hats.  My newest purchase is their Zulu Rancher, which I'm obsessed with.  I'm also eyeing the Ivory Rancher. It goes perfectly with a cozy sweater and skinny jeans.

Happy shopping!
