color me glad

Levi's 501 Crop Jeans (sold out, similar here and here)

I always gravitate toward bright colors so I have a hard time resisting a colorblock.  This Free People Color Me Glad Pullover is so pretty.  It's perfect for the weather right now - cozy for cooler days but lightweight enough for warmer days.  It would also be great for a breezy beach day, or even beach nights in the summer.  Originally I was thinking of pairing this colorblock pullover with these ivory Levi's 501 shorts, but it was cooler out, so I decided to go in the opposite direction and pair it with these comfy black Levi's.  I was just saying in my last post that I normally stay away from black in the spring/summer, but I love the contrast of the bright colors against the black jeans.

Not as bright, but I'm also loving this Free People colorblock pullover, which is available in 4 different color combos.  I'm obsessing over this LoveShackFancy Isaiah Pullover Sweater.  I'm also loving anything and everything by Olivia Rubin, like this pullover, this colorblock sweatshirt and this colorblock turtleneck.

Some other colorful pullovers I'm eyeing:

ugly Christmas sweater

Ok, this sweater is not in the least bit ugly, but it feels very festive and what I'll be wearing over the holidays.  I love the rainbow colours!  I love the slouchy fit, it's very cozy and perfect for lounging around after a big meal.  I paired it with a pair of Levi's Wedgie Straight Jeans, which are currently 50% off!  I couldn't resist pairing this colourful sweater with my new pink Lack of Color hat.  Of course the sweater having pink stripes makes it a no-brainer, but I love pairing red and pink together and the pink hat definitely makes the red stripes pop!

Happy shopping and happy holidays!

grandpa sweater / mixing brown & black

Lack of Color Zulu Rancher (also here)

Hope everyone had a great long weekend!  The weather has been so bonkers here (one week we'll get weather in the mid-20s (high 70s in F) and then it'll go back down to the single digits (somewhere between 30-40 degrees in F - you'd think I would have figured out the C to F conversion by now having lived in the States for almost 4 years, but I don't).  So I've been hesitating to buy more sweaters, but the deals have been too good.  This Free People Grandpa Sweater is one of the sweaters I picked up.  I love the oversized fit and contrast trim.  It's quite cozy, so on one of the warm(er) days I paired it with a denim skirt and booties.  I think there used to be a 'rule' not to mix brown and black, but I love them paired together.

Here are some other Free People sweaters on sale that I've been eyeing:

 Fluffy Fox Sweater
Taffy Sweater Cardi
Eleven Sweater (wearing it on the blog in blue here)
City Stroll Pullover (love the colour!)
Keep A Secret Cashmere Tunic

new year, new hat

Lack of Color Zulu Rancher (also here);
Free People Break Away Pullover Sweater (avail in 5 colours; also here on sale);
AGOLDE Sophie High Rise Crop Jeans;
Rebecca Minkoff Kaiegan Boots

I love hats. I've loved hats for as long as I can remember. When I lived in Canada, I wore toques (beanies) all winter.  Sometimes they're even necessary in the South (i.e., a couple of weeks ago).  In the summer, I live in my Lack of Color The Spencer Boater.  (I'm eyeing this Hat Attack Braid Continental Hat, which is similar, but has a cute braided band.)  Lack of Color makes great hats.  My newest purchase is their Zulu Rancher, which I'm obsessed with.  I'm also eyeing the Ivory Rancher. It goes perfectly with a cozy sweater and skinny jeans.

Happy shopping!

blue / snow leopard

{sweater: Central Park West; skirt: Zara (similar here); boots: Dolce Vita (old, love these);
beanie: Local Heroes; cuff: Chanel (vintage); sunglasses: Prada}

Nothing better than a cozy, oversized sweater on a (very cold) winter day.  I fell in love with this Central Park West one because of the pattern and texture, but mostly because of the gorgeous colour.  I looooove cobalt.  Especially on people with dark hair (no offence blondies).  I paired it with this great Zara skirt I bought last year even though it's approx. -30 today.  Anytime I wear something black and white, I instantly pull out my vintage Chanel cuff that I love so much.  I like pairing short skirts with flats to tone down the look, especially for work, so I paired it with these amazing Dolce Vita over-the-knee boots.  And because it's super freezing today, I just could not bear to wash my hair so, of course, had to throw on my 'bad hair day' beanie.

Speaking of Dolce Vita boots, I just ordered another pair (see here) with zippers and buckles and I cannot wait for them to arrive!  They have an amazing selection of shoes/boots.

oversized

boots: MICHAEL Michael Kors (in-store, similar); necklace: Mendocino (in-store)}

I mentioned here that I was all over cozy sweaters for fall, but the weather has been fairly mild.  Now that it's starting to get chillier, I thought it was time to get down to business.  Although I was on the hunt for the perfect black cable knit sweater (with or without a turtleneck), I wanted to find something special, like a really bright sweater.  When I couldn't find what I was looking for, I went to REVOLVEclothing.com, which is where you could pretty much find anything you're looking for and at various price points.  I found 3 sweaters in less than half an hour that I fell in love with.  This Textile Elizabeth and James plaid sweatshirt, a beautifully embellished white sweater that I will be wearing later this week, and the amazing cobalt oversized sweater pictured above.  Cobalt is such a pretty colour to wear, especially with dark hair.  I paired the sweater with these great black GAP jeans so that the colour would stand out even more.

The other reason why I was looking for sweaters with a special touch is because we are raising money for United Way this week and are able to wear jeans to work with a donation.  And since I need to wear simple, appropriate jeans to work, I thought I would make my sweaters the focus of my outfits.
