color me glad

Levi's 501 Crop Jeans (sold out, similar here and here)

I always gravitate toward bright colors so I have a hard time resisting a colorblock.  This Free People Color Me Glad Pullover is so pretty.  It's perfect for the weather right now - cozy for cooler days but lightweight enough for warmer days.  It would also be great for a breezy beach day, or even beach nights in the summer.  Originally I was thinking of pairing this colorblock pullover with these ivory Levi's 501 shorts, but it was cooler out, so I decided to go in the opposite direction and pair it with these comfy black Levi's.  I was just saying in my last post that I normally stay away from black in the spring/summer, but I love the contrast of the bright colors against the black jeans.

Not as bright, but I'm also loving this Free People colorblock pullover, which is available in 4 different color combos.  I'm obsessing over this LoveShackFancy Isaiah Pullover Sweater.  I'm also loving anything and everything by Olivia Rubin, like this pullover, this colorblock sweatshirt and this colorblock turtleneck.

Some other colorful pullovers I'm eyeing:

friday find: spring cardi

Happy Friday!  I can't help but be in spring-mode since it's been mostly mild here, along with all the rain we've been getting, so I've been on the hunt for some spring pieces.  This Show Me Your Mumu Good Karma Cardi grabbed my attention immediately.  It's an instant mood booster!  I love a striped knit, bubble sleeves and a pop of colour so this cardi checks off all of the boxes for me.  I would pair this colourful cardi with a pair of cutoffs and white Vans!

Cardigans are the perfect transition piece, if not the perfect piece period.  You can throw them over anything (a cami, a tee, a turtleneck, etc.).  I especially love them thrown over a dress, as seen on the blog here and here.

I have found so many pretty cardigans that's it's hard to choose just one!  I love the floral embroidery on this Glamorous Cable Cardigan and how pretty is this pink Glamorous Lace Collar Cardigan?  I love the bold floral print of this '60s-style cardigan by 525 (I can't decide which colour I like better!).  I'm obsessing over this LoveShackFancy oversized cardigan (I love the adorable cherry, strawberry and floral patches!).  There's also a cropped version.  I love the floral print on this LoveShackFancy cardiganThis MANGO Embossed Contrasting Knit Cardigan is super unique and cool.  This pastel yellow cable knit cardigan from ASOS, which is only $40(!), would be perfect for Easter.  I love the delicateness of this ZARA Floral Jacquard Knit Cardigan.  How pretty are the buttons on this ZARA Jewel Bow Button Cardigan?  I love the pompom details on this ZARA knit cardigan and the pretty lilac colour of this ZARA cardigan.  You can never go wrong with a simple ivory cable knit cardigan.  I'm obsessing over this Eleven Six Charlie Chevron Stripe Cardigan, which is not as budget-friendly.

Anthropologie is currently having a sale on tops!  I'm eyeing this floral cardigan, which comes with a removable belt, this ruffled cardigan (the orange colour is so pretty) and this ombré duster cardigan, which immediately makes me think of Easter.

Happy (cardi) shopping!

all of the pretty sweaters

LoveShackFancy Ryland Sweater (sold out, found it here, cropped cardigan version here)

I love fall fashion and cozy sweaters are my jam, but it's still 80 degrees in Florida so I've had to limit my sweater shopping, which has been difficult because there are SO many gorgeous ones out there!  (I try to stick to cotton or acrylic ones, instead of ones with wool, until the temps really drop.)  This LoveShackFancy Ryland Sweater sold out immediately, but you can get back-in-stock notifications and I found a couple sizes left at Farfetch (links above).  I'm not surprised it sold out... the cotton candy colours, the balloon sleeves and the mixed star details.  Since it's still quite warm here, I paired the pretty pink and purple sweater with a pair of white eyelet shorts.

I've come across so many pretty sweaters.  I'm a sucker for anything with a pretty ruffle, embroidery and/or a balloon sleeve.  Below are some pretty sweaters that are at the top of my list:

ZARA has too many beautiful ones to choose from:

ZARA Oversized Wool Blend Cardigan (baby blue! balloon sleeves!)

take me to the beach (a look back)

Spell & The Gypsy Folk Town Blouse (similar here, love this one by Cleobella,
eyeing this peasant blouse from Anthropologie, which comes in 11 colours!)
Brixton hat (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

I love this Spell blouse.  One of my favourite pieces I've owned for sure.  I love the colour and print.  I bought a couple of pieces from the Folk Town line and I really hope Spell brings the print back in the near future!  I'd love this colour in a boho midi dress.  Just putting it out into the universe!

Free People lace top (similar here)
J Brand Maria High Rise Skinny Jeans in Blanc
Brixton hat (similar here)

I love an all-white outfit, any time of the year.  We loved going to the beach in the evening, after grabbing a bite to eat down the road.  I mean, look at that sky.

Show Me Your Mumu Rosarita Romper (similar here and here)

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know I love a good romper!  I read someone say you shouldn't wear a romper past the age of 8 or 12 or something like that, but I disagree and refuse to give them up!  They're easy to slip on and head to the beach.  What could be wrong with that?

Free People Embroidered Swingy Jacket (similar here)
One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt (similar here)
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

This Free People Embroidered Swingy Jacket is probably in my top 5 favourite purchases of all time!  It came in 3 other colours and I wish I purchased at least one more colour.  I found several for sale on Poshmark here!

Show Me Your Mumu bonfire sweater (similar here and here)
Brixton hat (similar here)

I think this was my first Show Me Your Mumu piece and I instantly fell in love with the brand.  I couldn't get enough of palm trees, clearly.

Spell & The Gypsy Kombi Folk Dress
(similar here in white eyelet, similar sleeveless style here, this Spell x Revolve dress is 50% off!)
Brixton hat (similar here)

Another beautiful Spell piece.  I love the colour, print and flowy sleeves.  I wore it again with a black hat, which shows the beautiful back.  It's hard to find anything like it, but I did my best to tag items that were as similar as possible.

Free People midi dress (similar here and here)
Free People denim jacket (similar here and here)
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

I love an off-the-shoulder dress.  Floral dress + denim jacket is a combo I will always love.

Lovers + Friends Malia Romper (polka dot version on sale here and love this floral one)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

I love the drop shoulder on this Lovers + Friends romper.  It's a nice change from the off-the-shoulder style.

Free People Nora Jumpsuit (similar one on sale by Line & Dot here, love this one by Bobi, this check-print one by dRA and how pretty is this floral-print one by Farm Rio?)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

As much as I love a romper, I love a jumpsuit!  Most are hard for me to wear because I'm so petite, but thankfully you can find a lot of cropped versions out there.  I love anything colourful so I immediately fell in love with this Free People jumpsuit.

Jen's Pirate Booty Casanova Top (love this top)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

I think this top was my first Jen's Pirate Booty piece.  They quickly became one of my favourite brands.  This top is the perfect beach top.  It's easy, breezy and so comfortable to wear.

Spell & The Gypsy Folklore Blouse  (love this off-the-shoulder top by Jen's Pirate Booty, similar top by Free People here and here, love this one by House of Harlow x Revolve)

I love an off-the-shoulder top.  This was a unique Spell piece that felt different from their other pieces.  I love the embroidery.

Spell & The Gypsy Folk Town Boho Dress (similar here, here, here and love this tunic dress)
Brixton hat (similar here

This Spell dress is probably my favourite piece I have ever owned.  It was my first Spell piece and I instantly fell in love with the brand.  Shortly after I had purchased this dress, I purchased the Spell Folk Town blouse, above.  I'm pretty sure I had never heard of Spell, I just came across the pieces while browsing on Revolve.  Again, I'm putting it out into the universe that Spell comes out with Folk Town line again!

For Love & Lemons sweater (similar here and here by Free People, love this one by ZARA and this one by Sanctuary)
One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt (similar here
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Schutz gladiator sandals (similar by Free People here in brown and shorter version here, shorter lace up style by Madewell here and lace up wedges here)

I am always drawn to a black and white striped sweater.  I love the balloon sleeves on this For Love & Lemons one.  I never understood sweaters paired with shorts or skirts until I moved to the South ha.

...

I really miss living in Myrtle Beach, but mostly I miss going to the beach.  The warmth of the sun and sand, smell of the ocean, feel of the breeze in your hair and the odd dolphin sighting.  It's such a calming place for me.  We had a beach vacation planned for spring break but, of course, plans changed with everything that's going on.  I can't wait to get back to a beach soon.  I know a lot of beaches are reopening in the South, but we're still not ready to hit the beach just yet so, instead, I decided to take a look back at my favourite beach pics and favourite pieces I've worn to the beach over the years!

(Another thing I miss - my Prada baroque sunglasses, featured in all the photos above.  I sadly lost them.  They were my absolute favourite sunglasses!  I wear a prescription and have a hard time finding sunglasses.  I purchased these Free People Zoe Angular Sunglasses and now own 3 colours, although not in prescription, so they're mainly for the beach and/or sitting in our backyard.  I have yet to find a pair I love as much as I loved these sunglasses!)

Since we're looking back, most items are not available for purchase anymore, but I've linked similar items above!

rainbow ruffled sweater

LoveShackFancy Yumi Pullover (also here for 30% off!)
AGOLDE Sophie High Rise Skinny Crop (sold out, similar here and here)

How gorgeous is this LoveShackFancy sweater?!  I love anything colourful and this rainbow print is so pretty.  I also love a ruffle.  But I don't think I've worn a ruffle quite like this.  It's very unique, which is why I was drawn to it.  As per my last post, this is a rental from Rent the Runway (I linked above where you could purchase it).  It was a little chilly so it was a perfect day to wear this sweater as it's quite warm.  I paired it with simple AGOLDE skinny jeans and sneakers.

Happy (online) shopping/renting!

december skies poncho (+ gift ideas!)

Free People December Skies Poncho (comes in 2 colours)

How pretty is this Free People poncho?  I love the bright colours.  This one fits more like a sweater, but a poncho would make a great gift for Christmas!  A poncho is perfect, for example, for a day of shopping in Canada (hello, Boxing Day sales!) so you don't have to worry about carrying a bulky coat around with you in the mall, but at least you're warm from the walk from your car.  I'm eyeing this Free People Stay in Fleece Poncho, it looks so cozy!  This Free People Follow The Arrow Poncho is on sale!  A simple black poncho by Tularosa.  I love a cable knit sweater so I'm eyeing this Corinne Cable Knit Poncho at Anthropologie.  This Rag & Bone Cashmere Poncho would keep you (or someone) very warm and it's on sale!  (It also comes in grey and is a little cheaper than the camel one.)  This UGG Charlynne Poncho at Nordstrom comes in 6 colours and is reasonably priced at $110!

see the rainbow

Free People See the Rainbow Sweater (also here);
AGOLDE Parker Vintage Loose Fit Cutoff Shorts;
Louis Vuitton Palm Springs Backpack Mini

It's not quite sweater weather here and I had to take this sweater off almost immediately, but I am SO excited to shop for sweaters.  I have a slight unhealthy obsession with sweaters.  I love a striped sweater (ZARA is my go-to for striped sweaters!), a cropped sweater (bonus points for fuzziness and/or bell sleeves!), an oversized sweater, an off-the-shoulder sweater, a cable knit sweater (own it and love it!), an embellished sweater, a sweater dress, a sweatshirt, a cardigan, a turtleneck (also love this colourblocked one)... but, mostly, I look for a bright, colourful sweater.  This Free People rainbow sweater is colourful but neutral enough that it pairs well with almost anything.  It's super cozy but thin enough that you could tuck it into a skirt, or a pair of jeans.  What's your favourite kind of sweater?

spring sweater dress(ing)

It's officially spring, which means bright colours!  I love wearing brights so I wear them all year round, but it's especially hard to escape all of the colourful sweaters and dresses in the springtime.  I wore this very bright and colourful Wildfox Roadtrip Sweater (as a dress because I'm petite) on the blog here back in November, this time pairing it with a lighter hat for spring.  We were headed to the park and had to stop and take some pictures by the beautiful blooming trees.

If bright stripes are not your thing, this Free People Ottoman Slouchy Tunic, $148, comes in 7 solid colours and is perfect for transitioning into spring.

Happy spring shopping!

cozy in Canada

Happy New Year!  Hope everyone had a relaxing holiday.  We were in Canada for 2 weeks and thankfully it was milder than last Christmas, but I'm glad I stocked up on sweaters before I left.  This Madewell sweater is SO soft and cozy.  I love the rainbow stripes!  It's currently on sale and going fast, but you can also get it here at Shopbop.  It's under $100 and I think worth every penny.

Madewell is currently offering 40% off all sale items.  The sweater from my previous post (this balloon-sleeve pullover) is also on sale!

cozy & colourful

This Wildfox sweater is SO comfy!!  It's called 'roadtrip sweater' for a reason.  I'll definitely be packing it for our trip to Florida this week.  I love the colourful stripes!  I'm not even 5' tall so I can wear this sweater as a dress, which will be perfect if we get to a beach (but sadly the red tide is not going away).  It's also perfect for weekends by the fire with skinny jeans, or tucked into boyfriend jeans for a day of shopping.

Wildfox's Roadtrip Sweater also comes in other designs and fabrics from lightweight french terry to cuddle fleece here, including one for Christmas!  They're also having an early sale - 40% off sale items!

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving weekend!

retro / striped tee

{Free People Need You Printed Tee (comes in 3 colours);
Brixton Dalila Hat (sold out, love this one);

I'm always on the lookout for a tee that's not basic (I have enough black tees), but that I could wear without a bra.  This Free People Need You Printed Tee is certainly not basic.  I love the colourful stripes!  They're in the front and back of this 'easy, relaxed fit' tee.  Last Friday night we went for a stroll downtown Greenville so I paired this tee with my go-to One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt and white vans (not shown).  I thought of pairing this outfit with my pink Rebecca Minkoff bag, but instead decided to keep my accessories neutral and let the colourful stripes stand out even more.  Also, I'm in fall fashion mode lately now that fall items are starting to appear online and in stores.  This outfit would transition perfectly into fall with a cardigan (I'm obsessing over this Free People Creme Brulee Cardi) and over-the-knee boots (can never go wrong with the Stuart Weitzman The Lowland Boot!  Also love these Vince Camuto Karinda Over The Knee Boots - they're under $250!).

jumpsuit joy

Happy Saturday!  This Free People Nora Jumpsuit brings me so much joy.  I mean, it's colourful and dramatic with the extremely wide legs, which makes it so fun to wear.  It's perfect for this heat in South Carolina.  I want to wear this jumpsuit every day, it's so comfortable.  You just slip it on and go.  I paired this colourful jumpsuit with a pair of wedge sandals, but it also looks great with a pair of white sneakers.

Free People has a wide variety of jumpsuits.  You can shop them here!
