floral romper

When I was choosing items to rent from Nuuly, I was mainly thinking about comfort so this Free People romper was at the top of my list.  It's sold out mostly everywhere, but I did find it for purchase here.  (I've linked it above for renting and linked a similar one from Madewell.)  I've mentioned many times on the blog that I love a romper.  They're so easy to throw on.  (I love jumpsuits just as much but unfortunately they're usually too long on me.)  This romper is flowy, which makes it comfy to wear around the house, but has an open back which fancies it up.  I'd wear it out to dinner with some wedge sandals (I'm eyeing these Soludos Como Platform Wedge sandals).  But we're not ready to eat out just yet, even though they've opened up restaurants here in South Carolina, so I threw on my Adidas slides and we headed back to the park.  My husband and son were throwing the football around and I decided to join them, which proves a romper works for just about anything!

Happy shopping/renting!

take me to the beach (a look back)

Spell & The Gypsy Folk Town Blouse (similar here, love this one by Cleobella,
eyeing this peasant blouse from Anthropologie, which comes in 11 colours!)
Brixton hat (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

I love this Spell blouse.  One of my favourite pieces I've owned for sure.  I love the colour and print.  I bought a couple of pieces from the Folk Town line and I really hope Spell brings the print back in the near future!  I'd love this colour in a boho midi dress.  Just putting it out into the universe!

Free People lace top (similar here)
J Brand Maria High Rise Skinny Jeans in Blanc
Brixton hat (similar here)

I love an all-white outfit, any time of the year.  We loved going to the beach in the evening, after grabbing a bite to eat down the road.  I mean, look at that sky.

Show Me Your Mumu Rosarita Romper (similar here and here)

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know I love a good romper!  I read someone say you shouldn't wear a romper past the age of 8 or 12 or something like that, but I disagree and refuse to give them up!  They're easy to slip on and head to the beach.  What could be wrong with that?

Free People Embroidered Swingy Jacket (similar here)
One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt (similar here)
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

This Free People Embroidered Swingy Jacket is probably in my top 5 favourite purchases of all time!  It came in 3 other colours and I wish I purchased at least one more colour.  I found several for sale on Poshmark here!

Show Me Your Mumu bonfire sweater (similar here and here)
Brixton hat (similar here)

I think this was my first Show Me Your Mumu piece and I instantly fell in love with the brand.  I couldn't get enough of palm trees, clearly.

Spell & The Gypsy Kombi Folk Dress
(similar here in white eyelet, similar sleeveless style here, this Spell x Revolve dress is 50% off!)
Brixton hat (similar here)

Another beautiful Spell piece.  I love the colour, print and flowy sleeves.  I wore it again with a black hat, which shows the beautiful back.  It's hard to find anything like it, but I did my best to tag items that were as similar as possible.

Free People midi dress (similar here and here)
Free People denim jacket (similar here and here)
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Isabel Marant booties (similar here)

I love an off-the-shoulder dress.  Floral dress + denim jacket is a combo I will always love.

Lovers + Friends Malia Romper (polka dot version on sale here and love this floral one)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

I love the drop shoulder on this Lovers + Friends romper.  It's a nice change from the off-the-shoulder style.

Free People Nora Jumpsuit (similar one on sale by Line & Dot here, love this one by Bobi, this check-print one by dRA and how pretty is this floral-print one by Farm Rio?)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

As much as I love a romper, I love a jumpsuit!  Most are hard for me to wear because I'm so petite, but thankfully you can find a lot of cropped versions out there.  I love anything colourful so I immediately fell in love with this Free People jumpsuit.

Jen's Pirate Booty Casanova Top (love this top)
Lack of Color The Spencer Boater

I think this top was my first Jen's Pirate Booty piece.  They quickly became one of my favourite brands.  This top is the perfect beach top.  It's easy, breezy and so comfortable to wear.

Spell & The Gypsy Folklore Blouse  (love this off-the-shoulder top by Jen's Pirate Booty, similar top by Free People here and here, love this one by House of Harlow x Revolve)

I love an off-the-shoulder top.  This was a unique Spell piece that felt different from their other pieces.  I love the embroidery.

Spell & The Gypsy Folk Town Boho Dress (similar here, here, here and love this tunic dress)
Brixton hat (similar here

This Spell dress is probably my favourite piece I have ever owned.  It was my first Spell piece and I instantly fell in love with the brand.  Shortly after I had purchased this dress, I purchased the Spell Folk Town blouse, above.  I'm pretty sure I had never heard of Spell, I just came across the pieces while browsing on Revolve.  Again, I'm putting it out into the universe that Spell comes out with Folk Town line again!

For Love & Lemons sweater (similar here and here by Free People, love this one by ZARA and this one by Sanctuary)
One Teaspoon Junkyard Skirt (similar here
Urban Outfitters fedora (similar here)
Schutz gladiator sandals (similar by Free People here in brown and shorter version here, shorter lace up style by Madewell here and lace up wedges here)

I am always drawn to a black and white striped sweater.  I love the balloon sleeves on this For Love & Lemons one.  I never understood sweaters paired with shorts or skirts until I moved to the South ha.

...

I really miss living in Myrtle Beach, but mostly I miss going to the beach.  The warmth of the sun and sand, smell of the ocean, feel of the breeze in your hair and the odd dolphin sighting.  It's such a calming place for me.  We had a beach vacation planned for spring break but, of course, plans changed with everything that's going on.  I can't wait to get back to a beach soon.  I know a lot of beaches are reopening in the South, but we're still not ready to hit the beach just yet so, instead, I decided to take a look back at my favourite beach pics and favourite pieces I've worn to the beach over the years!

(Another thing I miss - my Prada baroque sunglasses, featured in all the photos above.  I sadly lost them.  They were my absolute favourite sunglasses!  I wear a prescription and have a hard time finding sunglasses.  I purchased these Free People Zoe Angular Sunglasses and now own 3 colours, although not in prescription, so they're mainly for the beach and/or sitting in our backyard.  I have yet to find a pair I love as much as I loved these sunglasses!)

Since we're looking back, most items are not available for purchase anymore, but I've linked similar items above!

floral print ruffle mini skirt

This LoveShackFancy ruffle mini skirt is so fun!  It's also super comfortable.  We attended Fall for Greenville a couple of weekends ago and I wore this pretty skirt with a simple black tee and sneakers.  It was starting to feel like fall around here so this past weekend I paired the skirt with a knit tee and brown booties.  I love taking summer pieces (a skirt, dress...) and finding new ways to wear them into the next season.  This skirt would look great paired with a warmer sweater (I'm eyeing this Free People Moonbeam V Sweater) and knee high boots (I'm eyeing these Sam Edelman Indigo Boots).  You could also pretty much throw a cardigan on and you're good to go.

Other floral skirts I'm eyeing for fall:

Free People From the Valley Mini Skirt
  Madewell Ruffle-Wrap Mini Skirt
Sezane Carolina Skirt

embroidered midi dress

We went out for pizza and what better dress to wear than a shapeless one?  You can eat all of the pizza and still be comfortable.  I especially love this dress because of the embroidery.  I'm a sucker for anything embroidered.  Free People always delivers in the embroidery department.  I'm eyeing this blouse, which also has puff sleeves (!) and this blue midi dress with contrasting embroidery, which also has puff sleeves (!).  I'm obsessed with this embroidered maxi top, which I'll feature on the blog soon!

fall neutrals

I love wearing neutrals in the fall (see here and here).  It's still warm here but I was itching to start dressing for fall so I paired these white Free People shorts with a knit top and brown boots.  These shorts are super comfortable and now on sale!

mostly meadow blouse

Some more florals and puff sleeves on the blog today!  This time in yellow.  I'm always drawn to yellow since I read in a magazine once that light yellow is a good colour for brunettes to wear.  So when I saw this Free People blouse, which also has a floral print and puff sleeves, it was a no-brainer.  It's a great transitional piece too because it has long sleeves, but it's also very light and airy.  I paired the blouse with a pair of Levi's, but it would also look great with a skirt and a pair of booties!

Speaking of yellow (and florals), I've also been eyeing these:

Faithfull the Brand Jeanette Dress
Faithfull the Brand Farah Midi Dress
Faithfull the Brand Dolores Jumpsuit
Auguste x Revolve Olsen Belle Mini Dress
Free People Dazey Shirt Dress

oversized tee

Fernandina Beach, Florida

Do you ever get to the point where you suddenly realize you need something desperately in your closet (i.e., jeans, underwear...)?  For me, currently, it's t-shirts.  I wear t-shirts so often because I'm a stay-at-home mom and live in the South and the other day I realized 95% of my t-shirts are worn out.  So I was/am on the hunt for the perfect everyday tee.  (C'mon sweater weather!)  I was drawn to this Free People tee because it's oversized but originally did not like the fit.  But because I'm in desperate need of t-shirts, I decided to keep it.  I'm so glad I did because it's SO soft and comfy to wear and the colour is so pretty!  Bonus: it comes in 8 colours!

p.s. I happened to pick up this FRIENDS tee while I was in Florida last week.  It's also super soft!

#OOTD / shopbop sale

shopbop sale

Happy Friday!  Today's #OOTD is inspired by Shopbop's spring sale where you can save up to 25% (depending on how much you spend) on almost everything on their site.  The sale ends tomorrow!  I literally have been shopping online this entire week (mainly because they get new items every day!) making sure I order the things that are missing from my closet, or need updating, along with some trendy pieces for spring.  I'm still loving the off-the-shoulder trend (love the colour of this Free People tube top, above) and, as I mentioned earlier, the bigger trend this year - off-the-ONE-shoulder (I ordered this BB Dakota one-shoulder top - it's under $100!  I also love this striped Splendid one-shoulder top, also under $100).

One item on my list was a new pair of light-coloured jeans for spring.  I started shopping early Monday morning (email subscribers get to shop a day early) and was lucky enough to scoop up a pair of the Miranda + Mother The Super Stunner Ankle Jeans before they sold out (you can check out the collection here).  I'm so glad I did because they are AH-mazing!  I also ordered these Levi's Wedgie Straight Jeans, which are budget-friendlier and also amazing.  If those did not work out, I was going to try these CoH Liya High Rise Classic Fit Jeans, above, but I'm all set for jeans for spring.

I also have been wanting to buy a new pair of sunglasses since it's been a few years since I bought a new pair.  I've been eyeing these Sunday Somewhere Yetti Sunglasses, above, for a while now, but decided to go with a pair of Karen Walker Number One Sunglasses since I need prescription lenses.  I did order a similar pair to the ones above, at a much budget-friendlier price, and won't bother putting in prescription lenses and will just use them for the beach, but they're sold out.  You can check out the budget-friendly brand, Quay, here.  I've also been wanting a circle bag for a while and was excited to come across this BAGGU circle bag, above, which will go with everything.
