layers

{GAP Herringbone Fleece Shift Dress; blouse: Madewell (sold out, similar);
hat: BCBG (in-store, love this one); sunglasses: Prada; boots: MICHAEL Michael Kors (in-store)}

It's all about layers these days.  One piece just doesn't cut it.  It's almost 0 degrees and it's even freezing in my office.  I have been trying to get as much use as possible out of my jackets before I freeze to death, so I'm layering my outfits as much as I can before I have to wear a winter coat.  I've even managed to stay away from toques (or beanies) so far.  I thought this BCBG hat was a great transitional piece.  But I almost caved this morning and put on a toque.  I think I just have to face it.  Winter is here.

eversoft

boots: MICHAEL Michael Kors (in-store, leopard version here); sunglasses: Prada}

Today was a chilly, rainy day, but this GAP sweater kept me warm.  I'm all about cozy sweaters for fall and this one is also super soft.  I've been seeing beautiful sweaters everywhere that it's been hard to choose which ones to get.  I'm obsessed with this Free People one.  I'm drawn to sweaters with pretty details, prints, or colour.  If it has polka dots, I'm 'checking to cart'.  I'm starting to stock up because I'm usually freezing up until April.  What are even better than sweaters?  Sweater dresses.  They are my favourite things to wear in the fall because they're so easy to thrown on and keep you super warm.  This Viktor & Rolf has everything one (I) would need in a sweater dress.  It's a beautiful colour, has a big bow and dolman sleeves.  It's perfection.  (Except for the $800 part.)

coco

booties: MICHAEL Michael Kors (old); sunglasses: Prada; nails: Essie 'Chinchilly'}

My first Chanel piece.  Many years ago I ripped out a page from Instyle with these amazing Chanel heart shaped rings on it that I regretted not getting.  I still have the page up on my bulletin board.  So when I came across a similar vintage cuff to mine online, I thought it was the perfect piece that would help me get over not buying that ring, but someone had already added it to their cart.  It said 'check back in 3 minutes'.  I waited anxiously, but it was gone.  So I stalked the LXR&Co. website until I spotted this cuff and immediately added it to my cart, jumping for joy that I was able to get to it before anyone else.  It fits perfectly with the black & white trend, but it's also a piece that will never go out of style because, well, it's Chanel.  I also love that it could be worn with a dress, or with jeans and a tee.  It might be time to take down that page off my bulletin board.

A picture I posted earlier on Instagram showing more detail of the cuff.  Follow me @marikachi!
