sunshine after the rain

{coat: ASOS; tunic (worn as dress): Anthropologie (old, love this striped one);
boots: Hunter Boots; umbrella: Coach (old); sunglasses: Prada}

Yesterday started off gloomy and it was raining, but by the afternoon the sun was shining.  It officially feels like spring!  (Until next week, when it's supposed to be closer to 0 degrees again.)  Of course I wore my new Hunter Boots, and I've been wearing this red ASOS coat this week because I'm no longer wearing my puffer coat, but I did not mean to match my umbrella.  But let's just say I planned it that way.

spring

{blouse (worn as dress): Anthropologie; coat: ASOS; boots: MICHAEL Michael Kors (silver zipper);
hat: Local Heroes (flipped down to not show 'Bad Hair Day' writing); sunglasses: Prada}

It's the first day of spring!  It's still in the below 0 range, but we're getting closer.  I thought I would celebrate by wearing this cute Anthropologie "blouse", which I'm wearing as a dress because I'm petite and it's quite long for a blouse.  I love the mixture of stripes and florals, but I especially love the sleeves (see below).  I'll be living in this dress over the next few months.  Plus, it's a perfect piece to transition into spring with because you can add tights for now.

It's way too cold to take pictures of this dress without a coat on, but I managed to take one on our porch.  The sleeves also look great pushed up.

red & pink & hearts

boots: Marc by Marc Jacobs; necklace: Coach (gift, old); sunglasses: Prada}

I love mixing red and pink together and what better day to do it than on Valentine's Day.  I'm also wearing my favourite Valentine's Day gift my husband bought me years ago - this adorable Coach necklace that remains my favourite necklace.  Other than looking like a walking Valentine, I plan on sitting on my couch and eating chips tonight.  My idea of the perfect night.

Hope everyone has a happy Valentine's Day! xo

two-tone / printed pants

{top: Mango (old); pants: MICHAEL Michael Kors; ASOS Popper Skater Coat;
sunglasses: Prada; shoes: Nine West (old)}

I rarely buy pants because I'm petite and I'm too lazy to hem them.  Plus, all the money I would spend on hemming, I could buy more clothes!  (I love that GAP has petite sizes and buy most of my pants there.  But my size sells out pretty quick.)  It became so cold last month that I knew I needed to invest in a couple more pairs.  When I walked into Michael Kors, I instantly saw these pants hanging at the back of the store and I'm pretty sure I ran to them so that nobody would steal the last size (they probably had more pairs in my size but I did not want to take any chances).  I tried them on and fell in love.  (Thankfully they're straight pants so I can tuck them under, which is great because I can tuck them according to the shoe I wear.)  I LOVE the print, but am obsessed with the fact that they're two-tone.  (I'm also obsessing over these black and white ones.)  I thought about pairing these pants with some colour but found this navy top in my closet and thought it was a perfect fit.  I added a pop of colour with this amazing ASOS coat (last seen here), which is now only $60!  I think I might have to pick it up in the navy or black.  Or both.

red

{ASOS Popper Skater Coat; pants: Bebe; turtleneck: GAP; beanie: Guess; sunglasses: Prada;
Silvy Ankle Boot (silver zipper), Mini Hamilton Saffiano Messenger: MICHAEL Michael Kors}

Red is one of my favourite colours to wear, even though I don't wear it often.  My grad dress was red (I had it made after seeing this amazing Cindy Crawford dress.  I told you I was obsessed with her).  So, of course, when I came across this coat I couldn't resist buying it because of the colour, but also because I'm obsessed with the hemline.  It's super flirty and fun.  Last week it was mostly about black pants because I was too cold and tired to even think about what to wear, but for this week (because I knew it would be another chilly week) I pulled out pants that I've had for years (the above Bebe ones), bought a new pair - amazing MICHAEL Michael Kors patterned ones (post to come) and pulled out my Paige plaid pants that I've only worn a few times (post also to come).  I've been cleaning out my closet over the past couple of months (yes, months!) and thought it was time to take a break from shopping (well, for the most part) and give more love to the pieces already in my closet.  Plus, I'm SO over shopping for this weather.
