fit and flare

hat: Urban Outfitters; Stuart Weitzman The Lowland Boot; sunglasses: Prada}

Hope all the mothers out there had a lovely Mother's Day!  We had a birthday party for both of my kids the day before so it was nice to relax at brunch on Mother's Day with my mother-in-law, while my hubby and father-in-law watched the kiddies.  I wore this dress Friday night and almost wore it again on Mother's Day because I love it so much (but I had a beautiful Anthropologie blouse set aside that I had yet to wear).  I saw this dress on Instagram and instantly fell in love.  I immediately checked The Bay and they had accidentally received one in stock with another shipment but it was not my size, so I basically stalked the Free People section daily to see if they would get more sizes in and, thankfully, on my last day of work there it was - my size!  This dress is so beautiful.  I am obsessed with the sleeves.  I was going to pair it with little black booties but it was a bit cool so I paired it with my favourite over-the-knee boots.  But I'm actually glad I got the chance because it started getting hot again the next day and I'm sure the next time I wear this dress it'll be with sandals.

nowhere everywhere

{Wilfred Beaudry Blouse; shorts: One Teaspoon; hat: Talula; sunglasses: Prada;
sneakers: Converse (similar here}

Happy Friday!  I was so excited that I was able to wear shorts this week.  Of course it cooled down today.  Spring weather is unpredictable and it drives me crazy sometimes because you never know what to wear, but I appreciate the warm days and it only means summer is around the corner!  I'm obsessed with these One Teaspoon shorts, from the wash to the distressing.  I also like that they're longer at the back so your cheeks aren't hanging out.

spring things

{tee: Sundry via Anthropologie}

Perfect weekend tee.

{top: Wilfred via Aritzia; jeans: Free People; bag: Urban Outfitters;
bracelet: Coach; shoes (not really seen): Steve Madden}

My favourite spring blouse.  I might buy it in every colour.

{shoes: ZARA}

The perfect gladiator sandal.

{top: ZARA (love this floral one); jeans: 7 For All Mankind (similar); bag: Urban Outfitters;
jacket: Anthropologie (old, love this and this one); shoes: Valentino (love these pink ones)}

Spring layering and colours.  (My last day of work outfit.)

{shorts: One Teaspoon via Aritzia; shirt: Madewell (similar)}

Denim on denim perfection.

I bought the Sundry 'Saturdays and Sundays' tee, above, because who doesn't love a Saturday or Sunday.  I actually bought it when I was in Myrtle Beach and visited the Anthropologie store, which is in such an adorable area called the Market Common - a must-see!  Today is officially my first day as a stay-at-home mom.  So everyday will feel like Saturday and Sunday and I feel so blessed.  (She even asked to take a nap early!)

flared

{Free People Isabelle Embroidered Flare; tee: Maison Scotch; sweater: Wilfred Free (sold out, similar);
hat: Urban Outfitters; booties: MICHAEL Michael Kors; sunglasses: Prada}

I wouldn't say my style is '70s or 'boho' (to be honest, I love so many styles that I don't have a particular one), but I'm definitely drawn to those pieces: flared jeans, high-waisted pants, flowy blouses, head pieces, etc.  Flared jeans have always been my favourite, whether they're 'in' or not.  I was told (or read) that because I'm petite, I shouldn't wear flared jeans, but I think as long as they're long and you wear wedges or platforms, I think they could actually make you look taller, especially with a darker jean.  But it's spring and I'm tired of wearing dark blue jeans.  Bonus: these jeans also have a built-in embroidered belt.

spring plaids

{top: ZARA; jeans (similar): 7 For All Mankind; shoes: Steve Madden;
bag: Urban Outfitters (in-store); bracelet: MARC by Marc Jacobs (old); sunglasses: Prada}

It was quite windy on the weekend, but it was so beautiful!  I even wore open-toed shoes.  And today it is snowing.  (Snowing!!)  Normally I would be complaining, but it doesn't bother me so much because I know next April I will be in beautiful South Carolina.  I picked up this cute plaid ZARA shirt with Myrtle Beach in mind.  Everything I buy now will be easy, breezy, just like this past weekend.

spring layers

{jeans: Frame Le Colour Ripped; top (old, similar here), jacket: Free People;
sneakers: Vans; hat: Urban Outfitters; sunglasses: Prada}

This Free People jacket was the best investment I've ever made for a jacket.  Sometimes I'm not in the mood for a denim jacket but want that casual vibe and this one is so comfortable because of the knit sleeves, which makes it the perfect jacket.  And I feel the same way about these jeans.  I usually look at skinny jeans (the really, really skinny ones) and think to myself after picking them up, I will never want to put these on because they will be so uncomfortable.  But these are SO comfortable.  They have a stretchy material.  They are the perfect jean to transition into spring and will take you right into fall.  (Or in my case, because I'm moving to Myrtle Beach, wear all year round.)

sunshine and palm trees and life changes

{sandals: Adidas; shorts: Levi Strauss & Co.}

Classics.

{Free People Rayon Hi Rise Culotte; top: Mendocino (old); bustier (similar), hat: Talula via Aritzia;
sandals: ASOS (last year, love these similar style); sunglasses: Prada}

These pants are supposed to be below-the-knee, but I don't mind them this length.

These.

 {sunglasses: Urban Outfitters (in-store); hat: Talula via Aritzia}

Vacation essentials.

{Free People Isabelle Embroidered Flare, top: Free People; bracelet: J.Crew (old)}

The perfect flared jean - my favourite type of jean.

My husband and I went back to Myrtle Beach a couple of weeks ago.  We were supposed to head to Mexico for our 10th anniversary (which is actually in June), but we decided it was a good idea to go back to Myrtle Beach to look at more houses because we're moving there!  I have been so busy planning for this huge change in my life that my blog has taken a backseat - but hopefully not for much longer.  My husband is being transferred for work from Toronto and it will give me the opportunity to stay at home with my kids.  I'm so excited to live somewhere warm, which I have always dreamed of (if you've been reading my blog for some time you know how much I hate the winters here in Canada).  I hope this will also give me the opportunity to focus more on my blog, which I have not been able to do because 1) we have had really, really, really long winters lately and 2) I will have time.  That is what I will cherish the most: time.  Time with my family (I currently am doing 11-hour days), time outdoors (in the sunshine!), time in shorts and sundresses (and less time being dressed up), time on my blog (which I'm really passionate about).  I love Canada and I especially love Toronto - it is a great city - but I'm so excited for this adventure!
