#OOTD / velvet crush

#OOTD / velvet crush

'I would drape myself in velvet if it were socially acceptable.'  -George Costanza

Same, George, same.  There are SO many gorgeous velvet pieces out there, it's hard to choose just one!  I LOVE this Free People Velvet Mini (it comes in 3 other colours).  If you're not quite wanting to drape yourself in velvet like George and I, you can stick to an accessory: a velvet choker (ASOS has many to choose from), a velvet handbag (this Rebecca Minkoff Love Quilted Velvet Crossbody Bag is stunning), or velvet booties (how gorgeous are these Aquazzura Velvet Ankle Boots?  These L.K. Bennett Pellino Floral Booties are also gorgeous and more budget-friendly.)

lovebird

So now that it's finally starting to cool down here, Spell comes out with the beautiful 'Lovebird' collection.  These pictures were shot in Santorini and I'm now dreaming of a vacation, even though I said I was looking forward to cooler temps.  I think we all need a vacation after yesterday, amiright?  It's not Santorini, but we are taking a mini vacation and heading to Greenville, SC, which looks beautiful!

You can view the entire Spell 'Lovebird' Lookbook here and shop the items here!

floral tunic & chuck taylors

 {Free People Violet Hill Printed Tunic (comes in 4 colours!)
Urban Outfitters Fedora (similar here);
Converse Chuck Taylor All Star High Top (also here - a pair of pink ones are next on my list!);

I fell in love with this Free People Violet Hill Printed Tunic as soon as I came across it on the Free People site and it's even more beautiful in person.  I love that you can wear it so many different ways.  I'm lucky because I'm so petite I can wear this tunic as a dress.  I paired it with classic High Top Chuck Taylors because it was very warm out, but mostly because I love the contrast to the plunging neckline and feminine details.  I will also be pairing it with these Jeffrey Campbell pink booties for a night out and over-the-knee boots, as shown on the blog here.  When it gets cooler here I'll also be layering this tunic with a boyfriend cardigan and it also looks great layered with a black turtleneck and skinny jeans.

#OOTD / fall uniform: slouchy sweater, high-low hem jeans & booties

#OOTD / fall uniform

Happy Friday!  It's sweater weather today and I could not be more excited!  I'll probably have to take the sweater off later in the day, but this morning is cool and I can actually wear a sweater and a pair of jeans.  Today's #OOTD sums up my fall uniform: slouchy sweaters, cropped jeans (I'm a huge fan of the high-low hem!) and booties.  I'm also a big fan of bright colours, especially red, for A/W and this Free People All Mine Sweater looks SO cozy.  (It comes in a bunch of colours if you're not a fan of red.)  I'm obsessing over these Citizens of Humanity Liya Hi-Lo Hem Jeans.  Last, but not least, a pair of booties to complete the outfit.  These Steve Madden Pistol Booties are currently part of the Nordstrom sale that's happening until November 13!

folklore

ZARA Sandals (old);

I recently said I was over summer and wearing sandals and all that, but if you can't beat 'em join 'em, right?  We headed to the beach again and I wore this beautiful Spell Folklore Blouse (sadly sold out in navy) and paired it with a pair of bandits.  I've been buying pieces lately that I can either layer with or with long sleeves to prep for fall.  I'll be swapping out my beach hat for a fall hat (love this fedora by Brixton) and pairing this beautiful top with a pair of flared jeans (love the Free People Denim Super Flare - they come in different inseams!).  It's supposed to cool down this weekend and I cannot wait.  This blouse will definitely be on repeat.

seeing stars

seeing stars

Seeing stars, everywhere.  You can either go small and subtle (my pick are these AH-mazing Saint Laurent Rock Suede & Leather Boots, top, or this Marc Jacobs Star Patchwork Small Saddle Bag, which also comes in white), or even smaller with a clutch, choker or ring.  Or go big and bold (I've been eyeing this Wildfox Lennon Seeing Stars Sweater, bottom left, forever now and this Free People Lone Star Denim Jacket has a big star patch on the back!)  These Stella McCartney Star Print Skinny Jeans (middle, also in a boyfriend jean here and kick jean here) have stars allover, but you can even go bolder with these After Party by Nasty Gal Star-Crossed High Waisted Jeans (top left).  Next on my list are a pair of Golden Goose Mid Star Sneakers.  They look SO comfy!

cold shoulder tee

{Free People Bittersweet Tee (9 more colours here);
One Teaspoon Bandit Shorts (similar, style I'm wearing sold out);

While I wait for this cold shoulder sweater to arrive, and the appropriate weather to wear it, I'll be living in this Free People Bittersweet Tee.  On a day-to-day basis, I usually wear a black tee.  Not because I'm a fan of black, quite the opposite, but I'm lazy and hate putting on a bra.  The cold shoulder at least gives a black tee some life.  You can dress this tee up, but I paired it with One Teaspoon Bandits because this past weekend was SO gorgeous.  We spent all weekend at the beach.  (And then went for ice cream - ice cream not shown because I don't even attempt to take cute ice cream shots in this heat.)  As much as I'm ready to dress for fall, I'm appreciating every hot day we get.  It's hard to believe it's November tomorrow!

Hope everyone has a fun Halloween!
