minnie

jacket: H&M (old); shoes: GUESS; necklace: Coach (old, gift); sunglasses: Prada}

My daughter turned two this past weekend!  Her middle name is Minnie and her great aunt sent along these Minnie ears.  She did not want to wear them but I couldn't resist!  (I went to Disney World when I was about 8 and the only thing I remember about that trip was meeting Minnie.  At the end of this year we're taking our kids to Disney World and I cannot wait for my daughter to meet Minnie Mouse!)  I normally don't wear jeans when I have company over for a special occasion, but I felt these Marc by Marc Jacobs polka dot jeans suited the occasion.  My daughter was taking a nap so I drove my sister home and she took these pictures for me.  It was a lot of fun!  I mean, how could you not have fun wearing Minnie ears?

sunshine

{skirt: Zara (old, similar here and love this yellow skirt for fall); tank: GAP (old, similar here);
hat: Roxy; shoes: Marc by Marc Jacobs (also here); sunglasses: Juicy Couture; bracelets: H&M}

Holy heat wave today!  Way to go out with a bang, August.  I still can't believe it's almost September.  It made me want to bring out my brights since I bought very few brights for fall.  I usually don't dress in black, or if I do wear black pants, I pair it with a bright sweater.  But I'm finally feeling the black and white trend and think I'm going to run with it this fall.  I just bought my first Chanel piece - a vintage black and white cuff - and I'm DYING for these Prada wedges and am hoping they go on sale before my size runs out.  So I'm basing most of my wardrobe around those pieces.  I don't know if I'm drawn to it all of a sudden because it'll be easiest now that I'm going to be getting myself ready, plus two little ones, or I'm just obsessing over those wedges.  Either way, I usually find black and white boring, but with my new Chanel cuff and Prada wedges (that I believe will be mine one day), I'm excited to wear black and white.  But knowing me, I will throw in some colour somewhere like this amazing Zara coat I just came across.

(p.s. These adorable Marc by Marc Jacobs slingback mouse flats were definitely a favourite this summer.  They are so comfortable and the bright pink makes any outfit fun.  I'm going to have to get my hand on a pair, or two, for fall to add to my collection.)

insta-outfit

{romper: Dolce Vita (similar here); cardigan (love this one for fall), bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs;
Double Wrap Turnlock Bracelet: Coach (other colours); sunglasses: Prada}

A quick post of my insta-outfit from Monday night, heading out to a casual dinner.  I said I was going to wear out my rompers since the warm weather finally returned to us after a week of WTF weather.  Welcome back, summer.

romping around

(Marineland, Niagara Falls)

{romper: Marc by Marc Jacobs (similar here); sunglasses: Ray-Ban (similar here);
hat: Roxy (similar here); sandals: G by Guess}

Today was one of those 'wake up in the morning, throw something on quick and get out the door to try to beat traffic on the way to Niagara Falls' days.  So I threw on this Marc by Marc Jacobs romper I've had for years that I still love.  The last weeks of summer are upon us and I'm trying to make sure every summer piece in my closet gets attention.  And the ones that don't means I have to throw them away/donate, right?  Yeah, that's not going to happen.  I do donate a LOT of clothes but, for the most part, there's just not a lot of hot weather days in the year.  So it's Mother Nature's fault that some of my clothes get neglected.

head-to-toe marc

sunglasses (old), head wrap: Marc by Marc Jacobs; t-shirt: TNA (old)}

The last few days have been extremely humid.  I've been spending my days either by my aunt's pool, or at the mall.  (Living the life on maternity leave!)  Man, there are amazing deals out there right now.  I was so disappointed because I found a Marc by Marc Jacobs dress at Holt Renfrew for less than $200 (originally over $400), but it just didn't fit right.  That never happens with MBMJ.  I even tried going up a size.  So I ended up only walking away with a pair of shoes (a great pair of BCBG gladiator sandals I've been eyeing that just happened to go on sale).  But I realized how much I love shopping in person.  Basically, everything you see here I bought online (except for the tee and sunglasses), including this super cute polka dot denim skirt I just bought recently, and basically everything is Marc by Marc Jacobs.  Some days you just want to wear Marc from head to toe.

mixing patterns: stripes & polka dots

{top: Wilfred (old); shorts: J.Crew (also here); shoes: Guess (old, but love these);
sunglasses: Juicy Couture; bracelets: BCBG, H&M (in-store); nails: Essie 'Blanc'}

Of course when I saw these J.Crew polka dot shorts, I was all over them.  (I also love these.)  It's safe to say my polka dot obsession is getting out of hand.  It's taking everything in me not to buy the other pair.  But they're so cute!  I know, I have a problem.  Well, my friends do call me a shopaholic, so it's safe to say that I'm also a polkadotaholic.  Speaking of which, I wore my Marc by Marc Jacobs polka dot jeans yesterday with a simple white tee and it reminded me that sometimes something so simple is so perfect.  But, for the most part lately, I have a hard time not mixing patterns.

electric

{Chale Neon Dots Romper: Dolce Vita (also love this one);
head wrap, Rubber Standard Supple Bracelet, sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs;
bracelet: Coach; wedges: Guess by Marciano; lipstick: Smashbox 'Fuchsia Flash'}

I'm lazy when it comes to my hair, especially in the summer.  I usually let it air dry, but my hair is partially wavy and has a mind of its own so I put it up most of the time.  So when I saw these Marc by Marc Jacobs head wraps, I knew I had to have one.  The colours are beautiful.  You can wear them so many different ways and look put together, even if you just tossed your hair up into a bun.  I'll probably pick up the 'shocking orange' colour too.
