jen's pirate booty

Tularosa Shorts

Ok, I was bummed at first that I could not start my fall shopping because it's so hot here, but then I came across Jen's Pirate Booty's Summer/Fall Lookbook with the stunning Joanna Halpin.  (My favourite images / pieces from the lookbook are below.  Pictures are NSFW.)  After looking through the lookbook, I wanted to 1) move to Bali and 2) live in every piece for the rest of my life.  So, needless to say, I started to embrace the heat here in the South.  I had a hard time deciding on which piece to buy, but I saw the Casanova Top on Instagram and thankfully scooped up the last one at Planet Blue (I signed up for their emails and received a discount - score!).  The colour of this top is SO beautiful.  The pieces are on the pricier side, but now that I bought one piece, I will definitely be buying more.  So once this top arrived, we headed to the beach and I have to say the weather was perfection.  (Very breezy so it was hard to take pictures - most of my pictures are NSFW as well because of the sheerness of this top ha, but the breeze felt SO nice and this top was perfect for it.)

wear to work: fall shoe edit

fall shoe edit

I was asked by a friend (hi, R!) to do a post on work clothes so I thought I would start by doing a fall (work) shoe edit.  In some offices you can get away with wearing sneakers, but the key IMO is to keep the sneakers clean and simple (the square medallion on the Acne Studios Adriana Naplak Sneakers (top, left) is detachable! I picture them with black dress pants and a camel sweater like this Demylee Jet Sweater with camel sleeves.)

I used to be a heels-only girl, but definitely since having kids I have welcomed flats into my life.  The Chloe 'Lauren' Scalloped Ballet Flat, which comes in 11 colours, is SO pretty and I especially love them in the pink pictured above (second from the bottom).  Sam Edelman has a budget-friendly pair (top, second from the left) that are very similar and also come in different colours here.  I'm obsessing over the Valentino Embellished Suede Ballerinas (bottom, second from the left).

Mules are a huge trend and what's not to love about them?  You can slip them on and go!  I personally have been eyeing the Jeffrey Campbell Apfel Tassel Mules (third from the top) but in pink (also in black here), but sadly my size is sold out.

Last, but definitely not least, the bootie/over-the-knee boot.  My favourite to shop for.  If I had to choose one, I'd pick the Schutz Boralila Bootie (top, right) since I don't have a bootie in that shade.  Although I also don't have an over-the-knee boot in the shade above so I might have to scoop up the Dolce Vita Neely Boot.

peplum & wine

Prada Sunglasses}

I'm finally back with a new outfit post!  I've been busy spending the past several weeks cleaning out my closet and I'm selling about 75% of it on Poshmark (and a couple of other sites, but Poshmark has been the most successful - and fun!).  Not only switching careers from working in an office to becoming a stay-at-home mom, but also moving to the South, I realized most of my wardrobe would just be sitting there.  Previously living in Canada, I own about 100 sweaters.  So I decided to sell most of my clothes.  And then I did some online shopping.  I've been dying to buy fall clothes so I was having a hard time shopping, but I found a balance with clothes that are meant for the A/W season, but light enough that I can wear now (and then layer with later in the year).  First up, this Free People peplum top.  I went with this wine colour, which is actually more purple, because it felt less summery.  Plus, I explained my obsession with wine in my last post, here.  Later, this peplum top will look great with black skinny jeans, booties, a cardigan and a felt hat.

wine o'clock #inspo

wine o'clock

Ahh wine o'clock.  This is probably my favourite colour of the fall season.  Does it ever go out of style?  Jewel tones in general are always beautiful for fall, but wine is my favourite.  Maybe I'm partial because I love red wine.  But I love white wine too.  And blush.  Coincidentally(?), I love those colours too for fall.  I've been doing a lot of online shopping lately and (thankfully) keep coming across this beautiful colour.  So I thought I would share my favourites.  I ordered the Free People Continental Peplum tank (above, bottom left) since it's still very hot here, but I'm obsessing over the MSGM Ruffle Cotton Sweatshirt (above, left) and LPA Sweater 217 (above, right) and praying they will still be available once it cools down here (and possibly on sale!).  But if I had to choose one piece for fall, it would be this ZARA bomber jacket.  Bomber jackets are huge for fall and this one is under $50!
